Settle a dispute please.

I prefer to see a nice looking radiator that's able to do its job properly.

ChochoCrazyCat · 04/12/2020 12:49

We have them, they're great. They double up as a shelf for photos and ornaments. Why would they be naff?

burritofan · 04/12/2020 12:50

A bit, but sometimes preferable to a grotty old radiator or other solution.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 04/12/2020 12:52

I really like them!

AfterSchoolWorry · 04/12/2020 12:54

I kind of like them. But I like old fashioned radiators too.

Bleughbleughbleugh12 · 04/12/2020 12:55

I don’t like them no

Tingalingtortoise · 04/12/2020 12:55

I really like them!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 04/12/2020 12:57

My cat says no! We only have the one in the hall because the radiator is hideous, also considering one in my 3yo bedroom to stop me having to fish small cars/other toys out from behind it every day (he plays with them in the window sill then they drop down).

happymummy12345 · 04/12/2020 12:58

I hate them and wouldn't have them.
Mostly because I need to dry washing

CoronaIsWatching · 04/12/2020 12:58

I don't think they are, they're also really useful in maximising space as the cover doubles as a shelf, saving you having to potentially put in another piece of furniture which would make the room look smaller x

MrsMoastyToasty · 04/12/2020 12:59

I'm of the opinion that they prevent heat circulating properly.

Juniperandrage · 04/12/2020 13:03

We have them to protect the toddler

PrayingandHoping · 04/12/2020 13:04

We bought one because of moving baby and it's so much more attractive than a radiator and isn't effect the heat circulation at all.

laudemio · 04/12/2020 13:06

I like them and good for child safety. They are not contemporary though, never mind modern!

PicsInRed · 04/12/2020 18:48

The fucking naffest. They also prevent direct arse warming - cardinal sin. Two thumbs down.

PontiacBandit · 04/12/2020 18:51

Very. They were the height of style in the 90s. House Doctor was obsessed with them. I don't understand why you would block the heat of the radiator with a cover?

chloechloe · 04/12/2020 19:03

Yes, I’m glad I’m not in UK and have underfloor heating instead!

EnglishRain · 04/12/2020 19:09

I think we will get some to stop little hands from getting burnt. Our radiators get insanely hot, even with the thermostat at the tank set to 60 degrees celsius, and it's recommended to be hotter than that I think.

I don't mind them myself.

Smallgoon · 04/12/2020 19:13

I nearly considered them when I realised how costly it was going to be to replace my ugly rads with nice, traditional ones... I don't think they are naff particularly, but in my case it would have been a cost-saving decision. So I wouldn't choose to have them, no.

SJaneS49 · 04/12/2020 19:55

Honestly they aren’t great but there are worse things and if you like them, who gives a toss?

catsjammies · 04/12/2020 20:10

Only to cover ugly radiators. Prefer a nice radiator though!

TheLadyGrayson · 04/12/2020 20:24

I put one in recently - thought a cover painted the same dark colour as the wall would look better than an obvious white radiator.

wowfudge · 04/12/2020 20:35

I hate them. When we bought our house they were bloody everywhere so we got rid of them. I don't mind a radiator shelf though - they do help direct heat into the room. I've always painted radiators the same colour as the walls so they don't stand out as much.

Usernamey · 04/12/2020 20:40

No but they trap all the heat.

LadyEloise · 04/12/2020 20:43

No they're not naff but they do block a bit of heat. The radiators that were in the house when we bought it are so ugly. The radiator covers cover the ugliness.
