I mean still allowed to move even with lockdown

Happy new year, fingers crossed for smooth house moves for all!

We had sale contract and title deeds through to sign for current house along with preliminary enquiries. Searches hopefully back this week.

Packing with two kids at home, while OH is lecturing via Zoom and I’m trying to work could be ‘interesting’ (and that’s before we consider the logistics of the actual move, I see me stuck in the car bribing the heathens with snacks and/screen time while trying to stop the cat escaping the carrier...)

What does the lockdown mean for house selling?!?! Can surveys etc still go ahead?!

Just checked guidance and house moves are still allowed.

This is full guidance I've not read in full but says house moves can go ahead:

We will still try and push everything through at speed of light as every few days there seems to be more restrictions now though hopefully this is it for a while now. It talks about school closures to at least Feb half term so hopefully no more changes before then though guess it will depends on hospitals / deaths etc. Would have thought if schools closed should start to improve in a few weeks. So hopefully out of the woods.

Anyway, we are just waiting for “further enquiries” after our searches are back.

I’m absolutely terrified of the thought that our buyer or vendor have changed their minds thanks to lockdown.

Asked my buyer for an update yesterday. They normally respond ASAP. No response, haven't slept a wink - not sure what to do now 😰😰

Had an update from our solicitor. Apparently our solicitor have never heard anything from our buyers solicitor. They've been trying to contact them since November and no reply . I was already so worried about this sale and now this has made things even worse as we need to complete ASAP.

We got an update yesterday from our buyers via EA that they are trying to push exchange through asap but neither us or them could get responses from solicitors who are presumably buried in e-mails / calls of similar.

@badgerbadger22 got the estate agent to call buyer - mortgage rejected, said they were appealing / applying somewhere else and that their mortgage broker would call me in the next few days.... nice of them to get in touch with me to let me know 🤬🤬 no idea what to do now, a call in the next few days isn't good enough when everything bar their mortgage has been ready since start of December.

I have been waiting for a management pack from the front of the chain for a month now, we sold 5 months ago and have not been given a reason for the delay, I have said today I want an exchange date confirmed or I will be making a formal complaint and giving a deadline to when I’m pulling out and putting my house back on the market, my MH cannot take this any longer, the no information for weeks on end 😅

We got an offer on our house abd had ab offer accepted at the start of July, only 3 of us in the chain and I've finally got a completion date of next week. Its been such a long, stressful process.

We are exchanging and completing today... my nerves can't handle waiting for the call to come in!

We are completing on Friday. The house is an absolute horror at the moment. Boxes, packing tape and chaos everywhere but slowly slowly we are getting there.

Hope all of you who are waiting for news get good news soon.

Nothing from our solicitor, but EA said vendors are going to look for rented accommodation, so at least we've heard something 😁

Supposed to be moving on Monday so want to book removals and full packing service but we haven't exchanged yet, what is this madness when removals are nearly a grand plus extra £100 for insurance if things get delayed. It's so ridiculous and stressful

@CherryDocsInYrBalls we are in the exact same position. Our buyers then suggested today exchanging on Friday but it’s a lot to lose on removals if it doesn’t happen

It's been a nightmare finding removals today, and no idea when exchange will happen, what do people do? It seems absolutely crazy, that you have minimal notice for a moving date

We're selling a business and home , and the legal work is going to be a lot more problematic and costly than we thought .. however , we want to move on and hopefully retire and downsize
Buyers came today for another look , just checking a few things outside ( we have a field and paddock )
Survey next week , and they hope to move in April ( after Easter )
All we need to do now is find somewhere to live !

We finally exchanged and completed today. We have been waiting since July. We are so so relieved! It's been one hell of a slog and I wasn't sure this day would ever come.
