New thread. Hopefully the last one for us!!

OP posts:

All our offers have been declined and only one of those was below asking price. Sad

We have one more option but it’s much smaller than we could ever cope with - huge garden though

AmmoniteMum · 30/10/2020 13:19

Could you extend Badger or put in a garden room/office type thing?

I can’t believe they won’t accept your offer when the house was is such a state.

Badgerbadger22 · 30/10/2020 13:23

@AmmoniteMum potentially- although nobody local has. Wondering if it’s a NIMBY area.

I know - their house was disgusting. Bodily fluids on the floor kind of disgusting and they were in good health and of good mind.

The estate agent was very apologetic as she thinks they’re just lazy and greedy.

And if we want we ought to pay for it. Just shows what kind of vendor they’ll be too Sad

Seeing another house later and I know I’ll fall in love hard. And I know our offer will be rejected despite their asking price being well above the local ceiling price. Sad

Badgerbadger22 · 30/10/2020 13:24

12 miles away we can buy a mansion with our budget. But we desperately don’t want to change schools Sad DS is autistic and would never cope

PointyMcguire · 30/10/2020 13:28

@Badgerbadger22 or the grubby buggers rejected your offer as this next one is the one for you! Honestly I really don’t think £10k below is in CF territory (hoping I’m remembering right) just go for it, highlight all the reasons you’ll be a straightforward buyer and see what they say. Keeping fingers firmly crossed you find the right house soon.

Bells3032 · 30/10/2020 13:29

@Badgerbadger22 i know the feeling. Live on the outskirts of London and like 20 miles away i'd be able to buy like a castle rather than a 4 bed semi.

Sometimes i put in like glasgow or York as somewhere to buy and make myself depressed haha

Thanks Pointy! Send me positive vibes at 3pm x

@Bells3032 I did that last night and got thoroughly angry. I was showing DH all these beautiful renovated homes with off-road parking and huge gardens - nearer beaches.

It’s so frustrating!

Baxdream · 30/10/2020 13:39

Oh I totally understand that @Badgerbadger22 . We're buying in the posh end of town. Lovely detached house in a close with even lovelier houses. We viewed a detached house last week about 5 minutes away, when things were on the verge of collapse. It was over £100k cheaper. Both houses need renovating.
It's madness really. The one we viewed is a lovely estate (we used to live there) but just not as exclusive . It's silly really but I just love where we're buying...

DareDevil223 · 30/10/2020 14:21

WE'VE GOT THE KEYS!!! (so many of them). We've just spent an hour or so there looking around and working out where to put stuff (we're in rented currently so moving in gradually) it's only a mile from where we are now as well.

It's been left lovely and clean and tidy with an information pack etc.
DP and I are very, very happy.

Thanks to everyone for your support and best of luck to everyone.

Tomatoandbasil · 30/10/2020 14:22

@DareDevil223 congratulations!

Congrats @DareDevil223 🥳

PointyMcguire · 30/10/2020 14:50

@Badgerbadger22 sending early positive vibes as I have a call at 3pm 🥰

Badgerbadger22 · 30/10/2020 14:52

Thank you! Also just found a house to rent in the perfect location!!

We can’t afford it but our equity will help - I actually want to rent the house and buy it too!! But the letting agent was a bit miffed at that idea.

😆 have enquired about it anyway

lollypop345 · 30/10/2020 14:59

Just informed my solicitor that we can move in with family at any point now to break the chain on sale and purchase. Not sure if I should have said this directly to my buyer though and not my solicitor?

Wish we had some idea of dates but no clue yet except my buyer is desperate to be in early December. Not a smidge of an idea about when vendor wants to ideally move but seeing as they had already sold and chain fell through I'm hoping they are desperate to move soon too! They already had secured a new house which I believe is empty and waiting for them..... being very pregnant is definitely adding to the stress.

StormyLovesOdd · 30/10/2020 15:16

So ....... completion/exchange has all been done, the funds exchanged and receipt of the money all gone through. The flat is legally ours now but my seller is still moving his stuff and won't even agree a time to hand over the keys 🙄. I've tried to be nice and patient but I'm so pissed off with his attitude. The estate agents are only open for another hour and we need our keys

They have to give us the keys today right? The sale has completed so the flat is legally ours isn't it?

MollyButton · 30/10/2020 15:20

Hi! So much has happened since I was last on the last thread.
I really feel for you Badger.

Here we have had the Environmental survey back - fine except possible Geological issues/subsidence risk. The Surveyor was in yesterday, so I'm waiting for his report and then will question him about it.
The buyers of my house have a specialist survey coming in next week to provide dimensions etc for their architects - most houses (perfectly good ones) are bought and then either knocked down or an extension adding a 1/3 to the present house added.
I've just had to send of some signed declarations about access too.
And the buyers are champing to exchange.

Fingers cross that Subsidence isn't an issue... Or I might need a plan B.

Simonsaysitschristmas · 30/10/2020 15:22

Oh god @StormyLovesOdd yes they absolutely can’t withhold keys from you. It’s your property! How frustrating for you - it really spoils what should be a great day doesn’t it?

Bells3032 · 30/10/2020 15:25

@StormyLovesOdd yes legally it's yours. They need to hand over the keys today. TBH we had the same issue when my dad moved. we didn't get the keys til the owners son drove over the keys at 6pm. It was so stressful and that was a flat that was already empty

OP posts:
MollyButton · 30/10/2020 15:26

@StormyLovesOdd talk to your solicitor - but yes you should have the keys.
Last time I moved we were moving in the back as they moved out the front.

StormyLovesOdd · 30/10/2020 15:39

I'm giving him another half an hour and then I'm ringing my solicitor 😡. Luckily we don't have a buyer for the flat we're in as we're renting but that's not the point is it.

I hate our seller so much, he's been a total nightmare to deal with from the start.
