While pulling coat hooks and washing posts out is Odd, surely most people take Mirrors and lampshades? I always have?

We once sold a house and the seller got very upset when he saw us taking the pictures off he walls.

His solicitor wrote to us Saying he expected the beds, pictures frames and pictures Inside the frames to be left! Needless to say we Said no!!!

back in the 90s house in blackpool they left us
kitchen cupboards full of food and jars
fitted wardrobes full of clothes, childrens games toys
kitchen carpet full of puppy piss
a back garden with a massive patio covered in rubbish
and the piece de resistance the poor puppy they had got just before the sale went through he was about 4 months old, sat looking very forlorn in the middle of all the rubbish 9we are talking bin bags full of all sorts including dirty babys nappies
rang them up and made them come back for the puppy as we had two dogs and a cat of our own

over the next two weeks all the carpets in the house had to be taken up they were that manky, bagged the wardrobe contents and made them come back for them

4 skips for the food and contents of the patio
found out afterwards if we hadnt bought it then they would have been chucked out and it woud have been a repo so they didnt care as they went into rented

One (a plumber) took the taps, every light bulb and fitting, carpets.
One left a few useful bits (first house purchase) pegs, vases, pots and pans.
One left everything - even used tea bags and dirty pots (four skips to clear it and many trips to the charity shops).

We discovered a top shelf that had obviously been missed. There was a sex manual on it along with a few other things. We gave it back to them when they came to pick up some post

Took the outside street light/lamp (like an old victorian style) from the back garden.

It was a beautiful thing and because it was fixed to the ground we didnt explicitly ask for it to stay. Moved in and she had taken it.

I was heartbroken as I loved it. We haven't replaced it yet as unfortunately it's a cost we just can't justify at the moment.

@gingerbreadfox due to the chain being late we didnt move in till 6pm i had three children at the age where if the puppy (who wasnt house trained)hence pissy carpets everywhere had stayed with us we would have ended up with him permanently and as we had moved to blackpool from croydon i didnt have any numbers for rescues and legally the pup wasnt ours to send anywhere except back to his owners

Umm some of these dont sound odd! Weve sold and are planning on taking 2 of the rooms curtains as we will use them again. We have a large expensive mirror in the bathroom so we're bloody taking that. Ditto some of the lampshades. They were expensive and we'll use them again! Why should we leave them?

Well at the time we completed and got the keys they were still in the process of moving out... the left random washing machine and fire. To be honest I was just glad they'd finally cleared out!

Oh yes, we got left with a cat at one house. He was a lovely boy and we kept him.

I thought you were supposed to take lampshades, mirrors, washing lines etc. Ours left loads of rubbish - 2 broken wheelbarrows, a sledgehammer, a broken hedge trimmer, cans of coke and more, mostly rubbish but they did leave carrots growing in the garden, which I've enjoyed. The house was so filthy with spiders and cobwebs everywhere that it felt awful when we first came, I cried as I was so worried we'd made a mistake, fortunately it's becoming home now!

@MrsSchadenfreude aww i think if it had been a cat it wouldnt have gone anywhere just at the time i wasnt so into animal rescue as i am nowadays and my first reaction was omg come and get your bloody puppy its not my responsibility its yours

I was told by solicitors that it is illegal to leave lights with no bulbs, they don't have to be the original ones from viewings but they do have to be there for h&s. I don't suppose that stops some people though.

They had a kids bedroom with a bed built into the wall high up under the ceiling. Kinda like a bunk bed, but built in. Its big, 160x200 matress. We thought its good for DS when hes older, because it gives him lots of space in the room. so when they asked it if we would like it removed we said no its ok.
They left the matress behind too. It was stained and looked gross and because of the size it was a huge hassle getting it down.

They removed the coals from the fireplace and the pole to pull the loft ladder down 🤔

Keys. In a house where lived 3 adults, plus one had a girlfriend semi-resident who he was moving in with, they left one front door key and 2 side door keys, one of which was very bent and couldn't be used, no keys to the garage. The back door couldn't be open, the handle span round, so no keys to that either. The other adult son (without the girlfriend) was clearly pissed off at his mum selling up, so I imagine refused to hand in his keys. We got the locks changed as a matter of priority.
Oh and spunk on the walls. Same house.

Bags and bags of rubbish which had obviously been there a long time. They were buried under a pile of tree trimmings so we didn't notice them on viewing.
I don't know why they weren't just put out for the binmen week by week, it was further to take them down the bottom of the garden than out the front for collecting.
And the attic was full of junk too, including their wedding album, which was a bit sad.

@Mutunus

*LJC1234
took the bathroom door* Any idea why. Was it special in some way?
Our sellers were instructed to clear the house, but all they did was shove as much rubbish into the shed as possible.

Nope bog standard door! All we can think is they realised they needed one for the new house

In one house, a skip’s worth of old crap that they didn’t want to take, including a stinking used chip pan still with oil in it.
