No movement here yesterday, just lots of emails and calls back and forth. We’re all waiting on the half of the vendors that messed everything up last Friday to confirm for definite the new completion date of next Monday so we can re-request mortgage for that date and get things rolling. Everyone (me, the ex, all solicitors, agent) seems mightily annoyed. I should be in the house by now! I just want to exchange pronto and get this locked in because the uncertainty is driving me potty, there’s been so much emotion and drama in the last week and I am exhausted.

Gonna have to do a whole load of expelling bad vibes once we do finally get in to the house!

Wherewhatwhy · 29/09/2020 09:15

Congratulations @Jujuball! So pleased that you can start to proceed now.

Things going terribly here. Our buyers have gone completely silent so we have no choice but go back on the market. I'm devastated that we are now at risk of losing our purchase that we've already paid out for surveys and searches for. We really need to move this year and this was our third buyer (previous two fell through as we couldn't find an onward purchase prior to market picking up). I'm trying not to be angry at them but it is so cowardly to pull out without letting us know! We were in limbo for a week trying to give them the benefit of the doubt but now it's getting ridiculous and we have no choice to remarketing and pray for a cash buyer. I feel like giving up but I can't because we HAVE to move Sad

littlecontis · 29/09/2020 09:27

Good morning everyone, we finally completed yesterday and have been cleaning and unpacking since. Thank you everyone for giving me a space to rant and very best of luck to you all for a smooth ride ahead. Wine

Skittlebug · 29/09/2020 09:41

Can I join? Put in offer and had offer accepted at beginning of August and since then everyone bar me has been dragging their ass. How often do you ring agent/solicitor? I don't want to be annoying but I want to know what's going on ffs

Notyetthere · 29/09/2020 10:02

@littlecontis Congratulations! We hope to join you soon. Please send some good vibes our way.

@Jujuball congratulations! Are you sure you not my solicitor? Mine was off yesterday afternoon. It could have been you working on your sale/mortgage applications, etc... I know . I know Wink

@Lemonylemony I feel you. Exchange is very imminent today for us. Even if we are exchanging and completing sooner than we would like, we really just want to lock into our sale so that I only have to focus on our purchase. Limbo has not been great for my waist line and lack of sleep is taking its toll. Never mind the wine consumed! I will join you in the bad vibes expulsion ritual.

ChristmasTree999 · 29/09/2020 11:59

Omfg 🤬 is there any reason why a solicitor would be deliberately obstructive?! Not mine, but the solicitor of my landlord who has needed to deal with a lease extension. Didn’t do what he was meant to have done weeks ago, and is still dicking around posting documents for signature when everyone else is emailing. Ffs- I might literally explode - we’ve been trying to exchange for weeks!! 🤬

Yippeeforme · 29/09/2020 13:09

Sigh... Waiting for response to our second offer. It's 245k. Our first offer was 238k which we thought was reasonable as a starting point. They rejected it with no counteroffer, and EA said they wanted something over 240. I figure if that's the case, then they're fixed on price and don't want to say so, and I figured we should just give them what they want and stay in their good books and get on with it, but DH said no let's try 242. So we've put that offer forward and are waiting to hear back. I feel silly quibbling over 3k and am worried we'll just annoy the sellers.

ChristmasTree999 · 29/09/2020 14:15

Any news yet @Yippeeforme? I think 242 was a good higher offer

AmandaHugenkiss · 29/09/2020 14:18

Update from our EA: essentially no update. STILL waiting for nationwide to approve our buyers mortgage amendments. They asked for another form yesterday apparently which I don’t know is good or bad 🤷🏼‍♀️ but I’m thoroughly sick of it. We’ve been trying to exchange for two weeks, the house is a messy state of half packed and my DP now can’t take time off to move due to buyer dragging his feet for so long and us cancelling leave twice. I’m frustrated to tears.

Bumpandus · 29/09/2020 14:36

Hi I am awaiting a completion date for my house having had offer accepted 24th June and all enquiries finally answered.

We were just waiting for a deed of covenant (from housing association) to be sorted but as I’m in touch with the vendor he confirmed this was done yesterday and we are just waiting for a date and funds to be cleared.

I contacted my solicitor but have had no reply really hoping they are just getting everything together then going to confirm and ask about dates.

I’m losing hope on ever getting a date :(

Yippeeforme · 29/09/2020 15:30

Spoke too soon, they accepted!!
Now here's hoping everyone gets their stuff together asap and we can get moving...

ChristmasTree999 · 29/09/2020 15:48

@AmandaHugenkiss @Bumpandus sounds like a few of us stalled at the exchange point then - so frustrating. I can totally sympathise with the half-packed chaos- I’m surrounded by it.

Lemonylemony · 29/09/2020 16:34

So nearly there..... many phone calls and emails today, the poor EA is tearing her hair out, but we’re very nearly there now! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

DareDevil223 · 29/09/2020 16:37

Just had seller's EA on the phone saying that the sellers are worried because they are being pushed by the developers of the new build that they are buying who wanted them to complete by the end of this week. I did point out that we were being delayed by their solicitors not answering queries not by us. We are ready to exchange and complete asap.

My solicitor says that they have had the central heating serviced but won't send the report ? Which sounds petty and I don't know whether that should worry me or not. I was feeling okay but now i am filled with existential dread about the whole thing collapsing because of the developer pulling out.

We are very close so it would be really stupid of them to do that at this stage. Biting my nails now.

ethelredonagoodday · 29/09/2020 16:44

Pleased can I join?
5 weeks since we accepted offer on ours, and a couple of weeks longer since ours was accepted. 2 weeks since we had mortgage call with HSBC, where they said transactions were potentially taking 3-4 months from start to finish. So much for being in for half term... 🙄

ethelredonagoodday · 29/09/2020 16:45

*please...

AmandaHugenkiss · 29/09/2020 16:50

@ChristmasTree999 it’s awful isn’t it? I can see why they say it’s as stressful as getting married or divorcing!

AmandaHugenkiss · 29/09/2020 16:57

@Lemonylemony I hope you get it over the line now!!! It’s so close.

Iseeyoulookingatme · 29/09/2020 17:05

I'm now 9 weeks into the process and our searches still haven't come back, our solicitor isn't replying to emails and our mortgage still hasn't gone to the underwriters. I'm ready to give up now. Although I have quite a bit packed away already. I'm hoping we have moved into the new house by the end of October.

llamallamallama09 · 29/09/2020 17:42

Offer on the house we desperately want has gone into best and final - we went over, but I know other people did too so doubt we will get it :(

There's another house we saw that might work, and they're going to best and finals on Friday.

Notyetthere · 29/09/2020 18:39

We have exchanged on our sale! Now it's a race to keep the gap between our sale and our purchase as small as possible. In the meantime, we are looking at alternative accommodation. We are open to all options. We have even looked at holidays away for a week but not sure whether DH can get the holiday approved at such short notice.

NewHouseNewMe · 29/09/2020 19:14

Congrats @littlecontis! I hope that champagne is truly cracked open tonight.

@Notyetthere oh that's exciting! Did you not name the completion date when you exchanged? Given Covid how about airBnB and ask for a deal given you're staying longer than usual.

Jujuball · 29/09/2020 19:38

Congrats @Notyetthere! Fingers crossed your purchase catches up soon!

Good luck @llamallamallama09, I honestly believe in things happening for a reason so if you don't get this one, there will be another just round the corner

You sound soooo close now @Lemonylemony it's got to be your turn soon surely!! Sending all the good vibes your way Smile

Just filled in all my paperwork for the new purchase for our solicitors. Feels very strange being on this side of it but so exciting seeing our new-address-to-be in black and white Grin I'm so nervous about the mortgage application with everything going on at the moment but just really trying to be positive and hoping we make it through to the end of this whole process OK!

Lemonylemony · 29/09/2020 19:46

Congrats @Notyetthere!!! Halfway there!

We’ve all agreed now on completion next Tuesday, my solicitor has re-requested the mortgage money back, and has reassured me that as soon as we have that then we exchange 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

ChristmasTree999 · 29/09/2020 19:59
