@Jedstre From my own experience, I now understand why those with kids tend not to take that option of temporarily moving out. We knew ours would be a week or two between our sale and purchase but it hasn't been easy. Especially our 3 yr old DD. She hankers for home and it is made worse by preschool being 2 mins walk away from our old home. I cried with her as she had to walk past it and not really understand why she couldn't go in to play with her toys or up to her bedroom. I even questioned. Don't be surprised if your vendors change their minds. What would you do then?

Notyetthere · 13/10/2020 22:39

@Zebrahooves CONGRATULATIONS on your completion.

Jedstre · 13/10/2020 22:41

Thanks @Notyetthere. The vendors don’t have children, it’s me who is keen to move at half term for various reasons, not just our annual leave. They said they would accommodate our preferred date but I’m feeling less confident as the date approaches. I’m just leaving it in my solicitors hands at the moment and keeping fingers crossed.

Notyetthere · 13/10/2020 22:49

@Jedstre We initially wanted to were planning on moving into a hotel but our buyers got fed up of waiting for us. We debated on calling their bluff as to whether they would pull out if we didn't give them a date bu the end of that week but alas we wouldn't be happy if they called it so we moved. Others might still prefer to stay than move.

With regards to our purchase, we are meeting our solicitor to sign the deed tomorrow morning. We will then agree when to exchange. Funds were requested from our bank yesterday for Friday completion.

Bumpandus · 13/10/2020 23:03

@Zebrahooves the best news to hear today!! Congrats !!

How many days before completion did you set the day?

Still no date here :(

notangelinajolie · 13/10/2020 23:06

@Zebrahooves

We've finally completed - just going to pick the keys up now.

Good luck to everyone else.

Congratulations Smile
notangelinajolie · 13/10/2020 23:35

We've got 3 more viewings tomorrow and then that's it before best and final bids come in on Thursday.
Hoping and praying that the market keeps going this winter.

Zebrahooves · 14/10/2020 07:30

@Bumpandus the solicitor only talked about setting a date on Friday! We did a simultaneous exchange and completion, but there was only us moving from rented and the empty property.

Roselilly36 · 14/10/2020 07:51

Still no buyer here, had a second viewing yesterday, but not holding out much hope.

We are seeing out the contract with our agent and will then re-list in the Spring I expect.

Congrats to all that have actually moved, enjoy your new homes.

Same situation I will be in but I didn’t realise you could complete that quick after setting a date maybe depend who mortgage is with

kerrymucklowe2020 · 14/10/2020 09:23

Who was it that said their Solicitors went AWOL? Rang mine on Monday - nothing, emailed yesterday, nothing

I am so bored of waiting and waiting and waiting

Baxdream · 14/10/2020 09:55

Congratulations to those that have exchanged/completed.

No news here! Just waiting!

Badgerbadger88 · 14/10/2020 09:56

It’s usually the enquires that take a long time Sad just hearing the “enquiries” word being said sends shudders and sadness through my body.... this is our second house sale / purchase this year

(Our Circumstances changed thanks to Covid)

Sad
IheartNiles · 14/10/2020 10:06

So we’re a month in the process. The buyers solicitors have been sent the sellers forms. We know their mortgage is in place.

We’ve paid for searches in the house we’re buying but haven’t had sellers forms yet.

No nes about surveys (we probably won’t have one as DH surveying / building background) other than drive past / desktop mortgage ones which passed.

Is this the normal pace to expect?

Skittlebug · 14/10/2020 10:31

Anyone in lockdown areas? how are you expecting to complete on house purchases? Need to book a date for completion but in S.Wales, almost total lockdown

RegularTourist · 14/10/2020 10:42

@Roselilly36 we are in a similar position to you since our buyer pulled out.

Going to go through with more viewings this week then consider taking off the market until next year.

Everything feels so uncertain at the moment with Covid, Brexit etc some calm and stability would be nice

MaMaD1990 · 14/10/2020 10:58

Can I join?! We are soooo close to exchange and our sellers solicitor has been waiting an age for a signed statutory declaration from their buyer. They've been dangling the carrot of setting an exchange date for 2 weeks and this final thing is just taking forever (or certainly seems that way). What do people do to keep their minds off everything? Such a tense time!

MaMaD1990 · 14/10/2020 10:59

Edit! The signed declaration from their SELLER. Not buyer. Too early for a drink?!

Diangled · 14/10/2020 11:00

Hi, may I join you all? Our house has been on the market for almost 4 weeks. We had one offer which we accepted but the buyers circumstances changed & they had to pull out.

Since then we’ve reduced the price as we felt the agents had overpriced it slightly anyway & have had 2 more viewings. One couple want it but are still to sell theirs & no feedback from Monday’s viewing as yet.
It is all so frustrating & I’m sorry you’re all living with all the stress & anxiety of a house move.

We go away (hopefully!) next week & I’m going to try to forget all about it.

Good luck to those trying to navigate this living in lockdown areas!

Maybenexttime08 · 14/10/2020 12:11

Hi everyone - nice to see some progression and sorry for those who have stalled.

I am in that latter category - we have now been waiting over 6 weeks for our mortgage offer, meant to hear yesterday but apparently they are running 'a day behind' so will hear tomorrow.

For those who have just started this process - you need a lot of patience!!

notangelinajolie · 14/10/2020 12:49

Currently sat outside our house waiting for the very final viewer to arrive. It's been a crazy week and I can't wait to get back to having my house back again.

ChristmasTree999 · 14/10/2020 13:54

Hello everyone. I have been absent from here for the last week - I had to take a step back from all things moving house related for my own sanity last week. For those who remember.. after all our buyers strops and demands re completion dates - turns out she wasn’t even ready to exchange as deposit not ready. Absolutely ridiculous. Anyway, exchange maybe Friday and completion now agreed for nov 6th.

Congrats to all those who have made any progress through this god-awful process!

NewHouseNewMe · 14/10/2020 14:05

@Maybenexttime08 which bank are you with? Are they all suffering from long waits at the moment?

Maybenexttime08 · 14/10/2020 14:41

@NewHouseNewMe We are with TSB - porting a mortgage where we are borrowing a little more but have a 60% LTV so thought it wouldn't be too bad. My DH is a Ltd company so that might be making them look a bit more closely. I'm keeping everything crossed!
