About £7k if using existing pipes and rads

Haggisfish · 25/08/2020 21:08

We just paid £3500 for new boiler and flush and hive through British Gas. Similar sized house.

GunsAndShips · 25/08/2020 21:17

3 years ago we had central heating installed including a brand new combi boiler, 10 rads, all work etc for 3.5k.

I can't believe the quotes on here!

seven201 · 25/08/2020 22:01

I think ours was about 2k installed. A few years ago in the south east but a 3 bed semi. Using a local heating engineer.

StarUtopia · 25/08/2020 22:05

I paid £5k plus vat (so basically 6k) for a new boiler, 9 radiators and all new pipework - as house didn't have central heating at all.

So for a boiler, I'd expect at least £2k if not a little more.

Shadowboy · 25/08/2020 22:06

We paid £2k for an oil fired Worcester Bosch - but with staff discount on the boiler itself. Large 4 bed house.

Pipandmum · 25/08/2020 22:09

About £2-3000 if it's a straight new boiler with installation and flushing included.

FloreanFortescue · 25/08/2020 22:10

I'm sure our last boiler was about £4K

Atalune · 25/08/2020 22:13

£4-6k depending on what exactly you were getting.

Chewbecca · 25/08/2020 22:14

£3k

MrsBungle · 25/08/2020 22:16

I paid about £3k all in for baxi combi boiler. They removed the old water tank and boiler and put in a new shower. No new radiators.

Hoppinggreen · 25/08/2020 22:16

Ours was £1800 in Yorkshire

ladyvimes · 25/08/2020 22:18

3-4K?

HotChoc10 · 25/08/2020 22:18

Shit I had no idea boilers were so expensive

Murinae · 25/08/2020 22:25

We paid £1900 for a Baxi boiler last year including installation and power flush using existing rads and pipe work. Not a combi as we have a mega flow.

Octopuscrazy · 25/08/2020 22:26

We paid 3k for a combi in a studio flat in London

Murinae · 25/08/2020 22:27

It’s was for a similar sized house and it was a 32 kw Baxi Megaflo System Boiler

AmIAWeed · 25/08/2020 22:30

Ours totalled £10.5k but included some extras.
New oil tank and relocation - required new base, fire boarding
Outside oil combi boiler
Removal of old water tank
Replaced 5 radiators with one relocated

Other extras were hot and cold water plumbed into the garden and electrics for hot tub

RedlightGreenlight · 25/08/2020 22:46

Thank you for the many replies.
To answer some of the questions
Yes 2 bathrooms, one electric shower and one of the system.
No new pipe work needed just replacing Baxi boiler with 35w Worcester one
British Gas quoted 4K but that includes 'flush and filter' . I thought it was a lot but I'm beginning to think that it's about right.

For a straight swap that seems a bit pricey, and British Gas are known for being at the higher end of the scale. I'd look for an accredited installer for one of the big brands (Worcester Bosch are well considered) and ask them to do you an independent quote. I also had the boiler changed in our BTL last year and that was around £2k, including moving the location.

LBOCS2 · 25/08/2020 23:27

(It was a smaller boiler than you'll need though)

doodleygirl · 25/08/2020 23:30

I would get at least two other quotes. British Gas tend to quote high.

Haggisfish · 25/08/2020 23:36

IMO British Gas might be a bit more expensive but the customer service has been really outstanding so far. And the quote wasn’t that much more than others.

m0therofdragons · 26/08/2020 07:40

Ours was just over 4K for Worcester boiler replacement and replacing a kitchen tap/sorting a leaking radiator. British Gas are notoriously expensive though so I’d try a local plumber to compare.

RJnomore1 · 26/08/2020 07:43

British Gas are expensive when I was shopping about last year. We ended up about £3k (scotland) but I got some other bits done at the same time like removing old gas fires that would have been a few hundred of that.
