Hi everyone, not sure if I’ve put this under the right subject but anyway!

I’m due to have my first baby in 6 weeks and ordered furniture from next which is damaged Angry so im having to send it back.

I’ve found a nice furniture set on wayfair but I’ve never been 100% sure on this website due to various things I’ve read.

Has anyone got any personal experience of using this website to purchase furniture? What is the quality like? Customer service? Delivery time etc.

Thanks so much in advance! Smile xx

I ordered a console table from there a few weeks ago.

Came within two days and I would say very similar quality to ikea hemnes. Totally depends though on what you’re buying.

Instructions were shocking though!

Roselilly36 · 15/07/2020 15:44

I have only had a couple of orders from Wayfair, things that I just couldn’t get elsewhere. I was really pleased with the shopping experience the items arrived quickly on both occasions, didn’t have any problems. My items weren’t furniture though. Good luck OP.

Simonsaysitschristmas · 15/07/2020 15:47

I’ve ordered furniture once. Took 4 deliveries as they kept sending damaged or missing pieces. Customer service was good though and we got there in the end. Speaking to friends I think we may have been unlucky - I’ve used them for soft furnishings and not had an issue.

mostlydrinkstea · 15/07/2020 15:50

I've used them a number of times. Twice things have turned up damaged. Customer services are very good so it got sorted but if I were on a short timescale I would buy elsewhere.

catbellz · 15/07/2020 16:19

I've bought from there with no problems in the past. But aren't they more a "marketplace" website now? As in, they do sell some of their own stuff on there but there are also third party sellers who pay Wayfair a £% to sell their own stuff. Much like amazon has become.

doodleygirl · 15/07/2020 16:27

Ive bought a sofa and console table via Wayfair. No isues at all, based on my experience I would highly reccomend.

Wishforanishwishdiash · 15/07/2020 16:31

I've had good luck in the past, but bad luck recently. I think they are over-selling their delivery times. I've had delivery dates come and go, and found it impossible to get an answer when I might expect delivery. They answer email quickly and vaguely.

I tried twice since lockdown, and both times I ended up cancelling and buying from somewhere more expensive, but more reliable.

Had a dressing table a few months ago, came on time and has been fine, just flat packed. Also Due some items over the next few days, so I will let you know!

LoisLittsLover · 15/07/2020 19:36

We've had a few things including our bed and mattress which have all arrived in tact, reasonable quality and no issues so far (bed is 5 years old now)

HighlandPeach · 15/07/2020 19:37

I’ve ordered a number of things from Wayfair. Chest of drawers, wardrobe, side table, long upholstered bench, set of 6 framed pictures, a mirror, a clock and an armchair. The quality of all has been very good. The chest of drawers was damaged during delivery (quickly replaced) and the clock stopped working after a week (quickly replaced).

gotothecooler · 15/07/2020 19:43

I think you have to check each individual company tbh. One company on Wayfair is just one company on wayfair. I would try and get reviews for the actual place that's selling.

As an aside has anyone seen the theory about wayfair selling overpriced things named after missing kids (USA)?

UncertainFuture · 15/07/2020 19:45

@gotothecooler yes, I was just going to mention that!

I know they responded and said they were genuine pieces of furniture but they don't seem to have explained why they were named after missing children!

I don't think I would buy from them after hearing about it to be honest.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 15/07/2020 19:47

I ordered a hammock with wooden stand in the height of lockdown, it arrived in 36 hours perfect condition. It appears to be identical to one I was going to buy from a specialist hammock retailer but for £200 cheaper.

joyjester · 15/07/2020 19:51

I purchased a cabinet from them ..it was really damaged...they sent another one also really damaged. The refund was no problem but I did have 2 damaged useless cabinets to get rid of.

littlelionroars · 15/07/2020 20:00

I've bought loads from Wayfair over the years. Everything from rugs to furniture and even light fittings.

Quality and value can vary as they have 3rd party sellers. Only twice have I received damaged items. Both times they were replaced with no fuss.

DurhamDurham · 15/07/2020 20:05

I've bought several things from there, customer service is excellent but what you buy depends on the actual sellers. It's not all made by Wayfair, as far as I can see it's lots of sellers who sell on the site. The same sellers can often be found on Amazon and EBay so I always double check before committing to a purchase as it's sometimes cheaper on one of the other sites.

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 15/07/2020 20:19

I boycotted Wayfair. They were selling furniture to detention centre where the poor migrant kids are snatched from their parents and held in a jail.
Making money out of poor helpless kids suffering. They dont deserve my money.

BeanbagMcTavish · 15/07/2020 20:25

I've used them for quite a lot of items, large and small, and found them very reliable.

I needed to return a couple of things (arrived broken/didn't like the colour), and found their returns system very good as well.

optimisticpessimist01 · 15/07/2020 20:29

I think they're very hit and miss. I've ordered a couple of things from there but only if they have good reviews and photos of customer purchased products and I haven't had any problems with them.

The good thing about Wayfair is that they don't (at least I think they don't) hide crap reviews, some products had 1 star reviews and appear to be very transparent about some of their worse items

VelvetKitty · 15/07/2020 20:35

They are being accused of child trafficking.

omg35 · 15/07/2020 20:37

I ordered a table and chairs a few years ago- same set. Chairs came separately one month after the table and the table legs were wobbly and couldn't be tightened. I probably wouldn't bother again to be honest

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 15/07/2020 20:49

@VelvetKitty Its not true

Highly recommend

We bought a bed from them previously (c2 years ago) and had no problems at all with it, easy to put together, delivered when they said etc. However, as PPs have said it’s not really one store but more of a market place so might vary by seller.

Recently had good experiences with Made.com as well, surprisingly affordable and nicely designed.
