Been on the market 24 hours - waiting for some viewings now!

I was secretly hoping for a call today with some viewers lined up for this weekend. I think I need to amend my expectations in the current situation!

So are actual viewings allowed now.

lastqueenofscotland · 29/05/2020 16:20

Viewings have been allowed since the 12th May in England.
Have there been any calls at all to register interest? The first 7 days are the most busy.

whatsthatnow74 · 29/05/2020 16:21

Yes! We're viewing something tomorrow. Obviously there are precautions in place so only two people allowed to view, sanitise hands etc, don't touch anything. Viewings have been allowed since the housing market was reopened.

I didn't realise. I know some first time buyers and the fact viewings are now allowed passed me by.

@lastqueenofscotland I haven’t heard anything from the EA. It went live yesterday afternoon but we have no For Sale board up yet. It’s a lovely house in a popular area and would normally generate a lot of interest, but I expect it may be slower in the current situation. We’re moving for school catchment reasons, otherwise we wouldn’t bother.

I’m feeling stressed about viewings! House only been on since Monday - and only one booked in! Argh! I don’t know what would be normal at the moment. I think estate agents are being stricter about who they show to, but feels like I’m clutching at straws...

ICouldHaveBeenAContender · 29/05/2020 21:25

People may be nervous of visiting an inhabited house (as opposed to one where the last owner has died and is therefore empty)?
Or perhaps not everyone realises viewings are allowed yet?

ElephantsAlltheWayDown · 29/05/2020 21:37

Even in normal markets it's hit and miss. We listed our house with one EA and it took a week for any viewings. As soon as our contract expired we listed it with a different EA and accepted an offer the next day. Don't assume it's due to coronavirus!

Mama12345678 · 29/05/2020 21:41

We went back on the market on Wednesday after our buyer pulled out during lockdown. We’ve got a viewing booked in next week 🤞🏻

We went under offer in 3 weeks in Feb/March but no viewings for the first week. You never can tell. Trying not to hope too much for an easy ride this time around but I’m impatient.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 29/05/2020 21:43

How proactive are the agents? Ours started ringing round the people on their books who were looking for what we were selling the second we signed the contract.

Adjeoebfwh · 29/05/2020 21:47

I think EA makes a huge difference. From buyer’s perspective we have had EA calling back same day confirming viewing as we requested, even proactively “there is a slightly bigger house on nearby street if you are interested...” and other EAs not getting back to us and when we called to follow up “sorry we are extremely busy” and viewings never materialized.

Note that we are proceedable buyers so really no reason EAs won’t want to show us the house. I am making a list of good and bad ones for the future when we need to sell...

DeeplyMovingExperience · 30/05/2020 09:30

Interesting. We are selling and we were messed about last week with cancelled viewings. I was starting to wonder whether the EA was grasping at straws trying to make it look like they were doing their job.

First viewing is happening today, so we shall see. We are in the 1M bracket, so obviously people have quite a lot of choice for that kind of money.

GreyGardens88 · 30/05/2020 09:31

Lots of delusional sellers on this thread

francienolan · 30/05/2020 13:40

How proactive are the agents? Ours started ringing round the people on their books who were looking for what we were selling the second we signed the contract.

This is important. We bought early this year and when we were looking we had agents calling all the time about new houses coming on the market. Most of the houses we saw, and the house we bought, were based on agent recommendation and not our own Rightmove browsing.

whatsthatnow74 · 30/05/2020 16:12

We've got three viewings booked in for Monday, so I'm happy with that for now :)

Mama12345678 · 30/05/2020 19:39

Three viewings is great! We had our first today. Don’t think anything will come of it but it feels good to have got the ball rolling.

DeeplyMovingExperience · 31/05/2020 07:26

@Mama12345678 - same here. Felt very weird seeing people wandering around the house. They are looking a loads of houses over a wide area so I don't think we'll hear from them.

whatsthatnow74 · 31/05/2020 16:08

That's good @mama12345678 - got to start somewhere!

OP posts:
Mama12345678 · 31/05/2020 19:50

Absolutely. Another one on Tuesday, and hoping a few more will roll in over the next few days as people have browsed Rightmove over the weekend 🤞🏻

Patch23042 · 31/05/2020 21:19

Good luck for tomorrow OP.

Bluesheep8 · 01/06/2020 06:33

24 hours?

Mama12345678 · 01/06/2020 10:43

Good luck today @whatsthatnow74

whatsthatnow74 · 01/06/2020 11:04

Thanks @mama12345678, we've got some more tomorrow too - exciting!

whatsthatnow74 · 01/06/2020 11:04

Good luck for yours too @Mama12345678!
