OH and me are hoping to move to Wiltshire and have spotted this. Would love some opinions if anyone lives nearby and can offer some info about the local area. We're currently in Hampshire and trying to do as much research as possible to avoid unnecessary journeys!

It's very dated and dark. Why is there a kitchen upstairs ?

Ohnonotnow · 25/05/2020 18:51

Grinit's a utility 🤷🏻‍♀️. Wouldn't be my preferred choice for upstairs!

I love the outdoor space.

user1519475227 · 25/05/2020 18:52

You will have to drive everywhere! It's near Porton down - (Public health england/DSTL/MOD) not too miltiatised but some mikitary houses around. No takeaways in village but a 15 min drive into Salisbury. And nearest supermarket is aldi a 10 min drive or big waitrose a 20 min drive.

Ohnonotnow · 25/05/2020 18:53

@Crikey0000 me too. That's where you'll find me 😆

@user1519475227 thank you, that's the kind of stuff I'm after 👍🏻

It's lovely!

reefedsail · 25/05/2020 19:03

I'm not keen at all, and I love an upstairs utility.

Do you need to be near to Salisbury and what's the budget? I think you could do better than this one.

Ohnonotnow · 25/05/2020 19:06

@reefedsail I need to get to Salisbury for work. Absolutely max budget is 5k but all those bedrooms aren't necessary. Somewhere reasonably quiet and a decent outside space is more important

That’s a lot of house for the money.

You’re near Old Sarum, lots of happy childhood memories running around the ruins with the dog.

reefedsail · 25/05/2020 19:17

Don't know how you feel about thatch, but this has a great garden and Cranborne Chase is just beautiful.

Waitingforboristoletusfree · 25/05/2020 19:20

I love it! Has a lovely feel about it, sorry that’s not much help though

Elsiebear90 · 25/05/2020 19:20

I think it’s lovely, but would need a lot of work and money to get it modernised as it’s very dated. Definitely liveable while you do it though, garden is beautiful.

Ohnonotnow · 25/05/2020 19:21

@reefedsail absolutely beautiful but OH won't entertain a thatch 😆

FoxglovesRosesandPeonies · 25/05/2020 19:25

That thatch is divine 😍

user1519475227 · 25/05/2020 19:27

Have a look at planning as i think they might be some new housing estate being build near

oiboi · 25/05/2020 19:28

Do you want so many bedrooms? It's an absolute maze of rooms and that would really piss me off, especially as it all needs work.

Garden is lovely tho.

Swifey40 · 25/05/2020 19:43

Do you both need to get into Salisbury? The traffic is awful!! Which area do you work in? Will schools be needed etc?
I agree about being near Porton down, it's bleak and there isn't much there. South and West are much prettier.

Waitingforboristoletusfree · 25/05/2020 19:48

All those saying it’s dated and need work are we looking at the same house? I love it 🤣 only thing I’d change is the red carpet

intheningnangnong · 25/05/2020 20:00

It seems to lack natural light. However you could ditch the 2 downstairs bedrooms and use as a study and gym which would be good.

Upstairs a dressing room and en-suite could take over another room and your back to a normal number.

daisypond · 25/05/2020 20:03

Nice kitchen. Nice garden. Ceiling height and small windows make some rooms look a bit oppressive.

OneNewName · 25/05/2020 20:11

I like the hall tiles - are they limestone?

squiglet111 · 25/05/2020 20:37

I love the upstairs utility room. Genius! Why do we cart our clothes down stairs to wash and dry them to take them back up again, when we could have washing machine and tumble dryer right next to bedrooms! Great idea!

LilyFromTheValley · 25/05/2020 20:38

I would LOVE a utility upstairs! Trying to persuade my husband to make a bedroom smaller so we can use the extra space for a utility. He keeps saying it's a bigger job than i think.
I love the garden and the view too!

SlightyJaded · 25/05/2020 20:41

Not for me, sorry. It's the low ceilings and lack of character - it makes me feel claustrophobic.

Lots of house for your. money though.
