Hello everyone,

We are relocating to Middlesbrough from Hampshire for my husbands work. I don't know the area and would really like some advice on where is a safe place to live. I have a 9 month old and my husband works nights so I need to feel safe in the house on my own. My husband is happy to drive 20-30 minutes to work. We are considering renting or buying. Renting would pay up to £700 a month but only have a small budget for buying £100,000 so really just depends what's available. We want to find somewhere to settle as don't want to be moving again for a few years.

Thank you

I remember how incredulous I felt when invited to a pie and pea evening. "So just a pie and some peas? Nothing else."

My colleagues think I am the weird one though. Grin

What's a yellow top? One last thing guys wondering how easy it is to get childcare? A childminder always seems to be cheaper than a nursery well it is down here.

A lemon top from Pacittos is an unforgettable experience. It's an ice cream cone topped with a radioactive yellow topping that brings tears to your eyes. My boys love them. I love the ice cream but pass on the lemon top.

Actually, if you like ice cream, Suggitts in Great Ayton (a traditional sweet shop) make their own, and that truly is amazing.

Ds is in a local nursery in Marton- we pay 47.50/day for all day including meals. Childminders around 38-40/day no meals we found. Lots of availability (this area anyway) websites to look at would be tiny turners, nunthorpe nurseries group, kids 1st, Montessori.

There is a nursery at the community centre in msg - don't know how much it is as it started after I needed a place for my kids www.msgcommunitycentre.co.uk/msg-day-nursery/
There are also a few child minders about
I used a different one in Darlington that is great and more convenient for my work
We pay £46.25 for a full day session minus our free hours - there is also a discount on that if they are full time

I've found a house in Guisborough to buy it's just been reduced to £85,000 3 bedroom needs updating. Does anyone know any areas in Guisborough to avoid?

Guisborough is a bit hit and miss. It’s one of those towns that has a lot of middle class and a lot of lower working class with not a lot in between.

Saying that, it’s a nice town and isn’t too far out the way. Whereabouts in Guisborough is it?

I like 2 they on Devon Road and Eskdale terrace. Second house is beautiful but a tiny yard

I'd probably stay away from both those areas tbh if you're looking to buy. They are both very close to the town, I'd look a little further out, more hunters hill way. Still very close to town for access but nicer areas.

Ok thank you
