I’m considering painting our living room a rich deep dark blue shade. Is this completely insane? Is it about to become hideously dated? And if you have this paint colour up at the moment would you share a picture please?

@comefromaway do it! And I’ll do mine as soon as I get the keys, get rid of the wallpaper, sort the damp issue and pick a shade.

@GemmeFatale picking the shade is the hard part! Blush I lived with this tester pot abstract art mess for weeks...

We’ve recently done our hallway in faded indigo. Not the best light with Edison bulbs.

Hahah I was reading this thread and was thinking mmmmm...how nice! I would quite like that in my house - then I stupidly remembered my sons room (who has left home now) has a dark blue/teal wall! Not a lounge but might help? Dulux Teal feature wall paint or something.

That's pretty! Which paint did you use?

Comefromaway · 18/02/2020 18:19

French Turquoise & Morris Blue. I’m thinking of changing the fireplace to white.

Hopefully once the piano is in it will look classy.

RagamuffinCat · 18/02/2020 19:00

So lovely! I think the fireplace looks nice at it is.

GemmeFatale · 18/02/2020 19:00

@comefromaway it looks so good!

This is Paynes grey from the Craig and Rose range. I really rate their paint

That’s nice supa & I love the windows.

With the fireplace the previous owner did a lot of diy and there is a funny non matching strip along the mantelpiece so the fireplace does need to change.

My dad hates it. He popped round when the painter was there and phoned me to ask was I sure about it.

We love it.

mouldygrapes · 18/02/2020 22:05

Ours is Dulux Breton Blue - similar to Sapphire salute but a little lighter. Love it

@Comefromaway, we had a similar response from parents (mostly OH’s side). my parents weren’t keen on the swatches but like it now it’s done. OH’s step mum detests it and couldn’t bring herself to say a single nice thing

Parkandride · 18/02/2020 22:11

What lovely homes you all have!

littlecontis · 18/02/2020 22:21

@BitOfFun lovely wallpaper! May I ask where is it from please?

FenellaMaxwell · 18/02/2020 22:27

@BitOfFun LOVE that!!

BitOfFun · 18/02/2020 22:56

I feel like inviting you all round for tea now Grin. A good friend put me onto it, and I just swooned! And the price!

Here is the link- it's a fantastic site.

The colour used at the RA for the current Picasso exhibition in the blue and eps period rooms is just what I want but I’m too worried about appearing utterly vacuous to ask them what it is

BitOfFun · 18/02/2020 23:04

Interestingly, a strong blue is the Pantone Colour Of The Year, so we can expect to see it a lot in interior design.

FenellaMaxwell · 19/02/2020 07:09

@BitOfFun I’d kill to have a really bold wallpaper in our hall (and living room, and bedroom....) but we live by the sea. Wallpaper would last about 0.2 seconds on the damp walls here!

BitOfFun · 19/02/2020 11:38

So do I- well, a five minute walk. Have you tried wallpaper before? This is the first time we've done it since the house was woodchipped some time back in the day!

Seemorebemore · 19/02/2020 12:31

This is Proud Peacock by Dulux. I’ve had it about it four years and still like it. I also have a Hague blue bedroom but it shows all the fingerprints.
