Have anyone hired a removalist to pack (pregnant while moving)?

Currently 4 months pregnant, and looking to move in 1-2 months.
Thinking about hiring the removalist to help with the packing. I will still probably try to pack as much as I can, but will need help I think.

DH is willing to help out, but he prefers to just hire removalist to do the whole lot of packing and we will instruct them what to do (especially with the labeling), and we can do the un-packing slowly by ourselves.
Have anyone used it? What were your experience? Does it cost a lot and is it worth it in your opinion?

Thanks

Worth every single penny! The Packers go through your house like a whirlwind, it's fantastic.

PleasantVille · 06/12/2019 18:37

I've always done my own packing so can't help but had to click on the thread because of the word removalist, I've never heard of that and it sounds very grand, is it an actual job? Smile

Worth every penny.

RiddleyW · 06/12/2019 18:38

I’ve always paid the removal company for a packing service - is a removalist something different?

Toadsrevisited · 06/12/2019 18:38

The greatest thing ever

Honestly

Moved when ds was 1. They packed everything, labelled, delivered to correct room. We went out for pub lunch!

nldnmum · 06/12/2019 18:39

Worth every penny. Moved quite a few times and used them every time since having kids. Takes so much of the stress away and so efficient!

Muddlingalongalone · 06/12/2019 18:39

Best £250 I spent I reckon. Such a small % of total house buying process.
Moved at 8 months.

MustardScreams · 06/12/2019 18:40

I would never move house again without a packing service, it’s amazing. Do it!

zoemelb · 06/12/2019 18:40

[bold]PleasesantVille[bold] [bold]RiddleyW[bold] I always thought calling removal company or removal person as removalist? Blush It sounds totally correct in my head Grin

So I've had a Google as I've never heard it and it appears to be an Australian word, are you on Oz?

I may also adopt it if I ever have the need.

HildaSnibbs · 06/12/2019 18:48

As over have said, worth every penny - it's relatively cheap compared to the total move cost and they are so efficient doing it - we just packed suitcases each with a couple of nights worth of stuff, and a box with kettle tea bags toaster etc so we knew where the essentials were, and left them to it. It was amazing how quickly they managed it!

zoemelb · 06/12/2019 18:48

RiddleyW just realise it's a Australian word, lol. I will start the trend. lol

Best money you will spend! Def do it, don’t need to pack anything yourself

SquigglePigs · 06/12/2019 18:49

Worth every penny and more. We will never move house without them again. Go for it.

zoemelb · 06/12/2019 18:50

Muddlingalongalone I thought it will costs thousand, totally worth it then.
PleasantVille yes, I lived in Australia for 10 years, they use it over there all the time, we don't call them removal company, just removalist. lol I thought the same here.

Worth every penny. It was only about 300 quid and so stress free. But they move at lightening speed so empty your bins and keep your phone, keys etc on your person.

reginafelangee · 06/12/2019 18:56

Yes and worth every single penny. It's amazing how quick they are.

MarshaBradyo · 06/12/2019 18:57

Yes and I was pg too. Definitely worth it.

zoemelb · 06/12/2019 19:02

will they label for your stuff probably? if they pack too quickly?

OP posts:
dreichXmas · 06/12/2019 19:03

They do basic labeling. Sometimes I add more detailed notes on boxes.

zoemelb · 06/12/2019 19:04

and stuff like glass, bowls etc that is easy to break, will they do it probably? normally that takes me the longest to pack in paper?

Worth EVERY penny. We used them when moved with two small DC and it was incredible. I didn’t have to pack a thing and it made the whole process so much less stressful. Any furniture they took apart they then put together again in the new house. They even put DC’s entire playhouse on a Luton van to move it to the new garden rather than having to take it apart! It was incredible and I would never move again without it. Agree that labelling is minimal so you might want to add labels of your own but I doubt you’ll keep up with them as they go so quickly!

Talia99 · 06/12/2019 19:07

They pack everything and label it with the room it came out of rather than the exact contents. I put the stuff that wasn’t to be packed in my car or in the hall cupboard with a ‘not to be packed’ sign on the door. They did the entire two bed flat in about an hour and a half. I don’t remember it being that expensive.
