New job in Ellesmere Port where to buy?

Looking to move as new job in Ellesmere Port. Haven’t visited the surrounding area yet but have been scouring Rightmove and am very confused re areas! So budget up to £650k, detached at least 2+ bedrooms, large garden with room to extend if needed, kids grown up so just myself and husband. Have been looking at Chester and surrounding area, and now thinking of Neston/Wirral or Deeside as Chester pretty pricey. Any suggestions of good areas? Thanks

There's a gorgeous pub within walking distance and I think there are shops reasonably near by

Lower Heswall is lovely, move to the Wirral, not Hawarden, you won't regret it!

TokyoSushi · 17/11/2019 22:13

Ooh Raby Mere - also lovely!

The biggest problem with Heswall is public transport. You mentioned buses to Chester earlier - the service is dreadful and on the bus it'll take an hour to get to Chester. The last bus back to Heswall leaves Chester at 19.00. And the house in Christleton is lovely, but that road is an absolute nightmare!

Movein2020 · 17/11/2019 22:28

Steam fan is the Road very busy?

yes, Move it is, it's one of the main roads out of Chester and in the early hours is constant HGVs. I have a friend who lives in Waverton, and trying to get out onto that road can take a considerable amount of time. Don't think the buses are much good either.

The commute from Chester to Ellesmere Port is fine as long as you’re on the right side of Chester. Upton is good place to look in Chester. Otherwise you’ve got the villages outside Chester with easy access to the motorway or A roads. Mickle Trafford, Backford etc.

Ness, Neston, Parkgate are ok. Willaston is good. Ledsham and Capenhurst can be awkward for traffic. Mollington is good.

Have a look at Eastham and Bromborough too. There are some gems out there

Im from the wirral. Heswall has nice eateries and places to drink and supermarkets but is easy to get to other places by car. However the public transport is pretty poor. West kirby has lovely coast line. Few nice places to drink and is a bit quieter. Also has a train station. If you are thinking youll socialise more chester way and spend time in wales id head more neston, burton, paddington way. Neston being best for public transport into chester or liverpool.

Working my way through all links you have posted. Id avoid the spital road one. Its only road that leads up that way with everyone going from bromborough and bebbington towards m53. Unfortunately the m53 closes often for crashes and what not and that entire road can be gridlocked all day. It also is on a hill that regularly floods. They also for some unknown reason regularily dig it up. Always some kind road works that cause no end hassle.

Christleton is generally pretty good and about 15 minutes from Ellesmere Port. Unfortunately, looking at Rightmove most of what is on the market at the moment around your price range is on the A41, which is a horrendously busy road and best avoided. It's much better in the village centre or in some of the outlying areas which are micuh quieter and more rural. Of course, people may be holding back from selling now until after Christmas, so there may be more choice early in the new year.

Runkle · 17/11/2019 23:12

I think they're my faves too! 😍
