Lovely to look at in a magazine but how closer can you park the car?!

AND£1.3 M in an isolated spot in Suffolk!

thenightsky · 13/08/2019 17:24

I love it!

Bluntness100 · 13/08/2019 17:25

I actually don't like that. It looks cold and univiting, and the pictures taken on a cold day don't help. I think it's the stone floors and brickwork, it's all hard surfaces, with no softness or warmth.

Also why is there no land, it seems the only outside area is the patio area built in?

alwaysdressedinyellow · 13/08/2019 17:47

I love it. It's currently a holiday let, but even that for a week is beyond my reach!

soberfabulous · 13/08/2019 17:53

I adore it! I'm from jersey and we have numerous Martello towers. I've never seen one as beautiful as that.

Whoseagooddoggiethen · 13/08/2019 18:00

That is the home of my dreams!!! I would love it. Im a circle person - its everything i would want!

Riddleofthesands · 13/08/2019 18:13

We stayed there a couple of years ago. Top floor is truly fab, views, light, space. Middle floor was fine, kinda fun no actual rooms. Sofa and lots of cowhide and sheepskin rugs scattered around. Bottom floor was bedrooms and bathrooms, kids loved the incredibly thick walls. Bathrooms were a bit cramped but designed to within an inch. By the end of the week I was claustrophobic (rest of family fine) and kept trying to get the rest of the family to sit on the fab bleak (in a good way) pebble beach. If you like bird watching it’s good too. You need a 4x4 to get to it.

Homely it isn’t - but I LOVE IT 🥰 💕

Riddleofthesands · 13/08/2019 18:44

With a 4x4 you can park at the bottom of the entrance steps if you like. Not sure how long the track was, a few hundred yards, perhaps 1/2 a mile. Maybe you could do it without a 4x4 it’s just very bumpy so you’d need to go at snails pace, lots of partridges etc to contend with. It’s very near a village so not that isolated really. I don’t think it has land or very little, parking for a few cars but no real garden. The pebble beech is very close.

Oddly it does feel homely in that the brick is warmer than it appears in pix.

Someone needs to tell them that the cat in the window in picture 20 is dead.

VenusTiger · 13/08/2019 19:14

Can’t see out though... nicer to look at from the outside

I really wanted to like it, but it's dark, oppressive and creepy. It feels more like an office than a home. No homeliness at all.

BlueSkiesLies · 13/08/2019 20:46

I’ve bikes past that!

Super cool but only as a weekend Airbnb party rental (or if mega rich as your countryside party bolt hole) but wouldn’t like to live there full time.

DurexCertified · 13/08/2019 21:17

I hope the brickwork doesn't need repointing this lifetime. Lol!

SweetMelodies · 13/08/2019 21:21

Needs some rugs and colour and cosiness!

lboogy · 13/08/2019 21:24

Horrid. I'm anti social at the best of times but if feels like Quasimodo would be right at home there

GreyGardens88 · 13/08/2019 21:30

Oh come on, it's a monstrous eyesore

MollyButton · 13/08/2019 21:43

Oh come on, it's a monstrous eyesore

You do realise that it is probably listed in some way and is a historic structure that has been adapted? It was built to repel the French - and aesthetic appeal probably wasn't their primary concern. And now its important history - to remind us just how real that threat of invasion was.

I do think it is more a weekend cottage/holiday let type place. Its the kind of thing the Landmark Trust offer for lots of money.

JellyPeanut · 13/08/2019 21:52

Beautifully done but an eye-watering asking price for something that is probably £££ to upkeep

Ohyesiam · 13/08/2019 21:54

I’ve seen a terrible conversion f a Martello tower, quite chintzy with straight walls plonked in to divide the space.
This has been done with amazing sensitivity and vision.

Mumtofourandnomore · 13/08/2019 22:55

Urgh, I only got to the lounge pic and it made me feel dizzy !

Constance1234 · 13/08/2019 23:00

It beautiful, but I would find it super creepy to be the only dwelling in the vicinity. Be great to stay there on holiday for a long weekend though!
