Why hasn't this South Sheffield property been snapped up?

Lovely home, great location, why hasn't someone snapped it up already?
Came up on my Facebook feed, I'm fairly local to it.
What do you think?

It’s really nothing special imo and bloody expensive.

ButDoYouAvocado · 02/07/2019 22:57

It looks dated and cluttered to me.

gettingtherequickly · 02/07/2019 23:00

You might be right, I love it, but couldn't afford it. We're about 15 miles away, and in a much cheaper location, I just like to keep my eye on the local market out of interest and it stood out that this had been reduced.

The photos of the sale in 2010 are still visible on RM in sold prices and all they've done in 9 years is clutter it up! It's a big house but bursting at the seams.

Xmasbaby11 · 02/07/2019 23:02

I live in Sheffield and that's an extremely high price! I'm not saying it's not worth it for the size and location but there isn't that much market for such an expensive house surely. You could get something lovely for less than that.

JoJoSM2 · 02/07/2019 23:04

The decor could be putting people off. As well as the small, sloping garden.

MoodLighting · 02/07/2019 23:20

It's really horrible and very expensive!!

Bunnybigears · 02/07/2019 23:25

Because finding someone who wants to live in that area, likes the house and can afford the price isnt easy.

Ohyesiam · 02/07/2019 23:25

It’s like an exemplar to demonstrate terrible taste.

duckfilledfattypuss · 02/07/2019 23:27

As per PP, it's a very expensive house for the area. I've also heard bad reviews for the house builder.

For me, living over four floors would not be practical - having a kitchen in the basement means staggering down a lot of stairs in the middle of the night for bottles/special cups/ice cubes.

The school checker doesn't come up with any outstanding schools either.

If it's yours, great views! Take away 30% of the furniture and show why you love living there.

And get the estate agents to try again with the blurb - I know I shouldn't be put off by bad grammar on rightmove but they clearly haven't even proofread this one. For such an expensive house I'd expect a glowing five-star description with proper reasons why living there is fabulous.

gettingtherequickly · 02/07/2019 23:31

No it's definitely not mine, I just genuinely loved the location, garden, views and space, unusual to find a relative new build with those attributes. I couldn't afford it at half the price.

You’ve got to really love a property to spend that sort of money.

Orchardgreen · 02/07/2019 23:34

Because it’s hideous, and furnished with ghastly taste.

TiddleTaddleTat · 02/07/2019 23:34

Good schools , but house is cluttered and well overpriced.

Herefortheduration · 02/07/2019 23:36

You can almost reach over and touch the house next door, for £875k there are much nicer houses around for that price.

ladypenelopeplum · 02/07/2019 23:36

Because it's a town house and The bedrooms are on two floors and there is no lounge on the same floor as the kitchen ?

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 02/07/2019 23:37

Seems a bloody lot for Sheffield. And those chandeliers...

BanditoShipman · 02/07/2019 23:40

Why are there two almost identical properties in Sheffield on different threads tonight? Are the ops both estate agents? 🙄🙄

thatonesmine · 02/07/2019 23:43

Too fussy for my taste. I know that road and it's a bit of a bleak and windswept spot, I wouldn't be keen to live there.

GroggyLegs · 02/07/2019 23:44

What's going on with the weird brown bedroom? Its really out of place with it's lumpy curtains & millions of bags o' crap on the pine wardrobes.

Also - Union Jacks! Everywhere! My guess is, its a brexiteer selling up to buy a holiday home in Spain.

On a positive note, the views are stunning.

BikeRunSki · 02/07/2019 23:49

It’s a heck of a lot of money, even for there. Is it in catchment for Silverdale or High Storrs? Because for that much, I’d really want it to be. Rather than say Forge Valley.

MyDcAreMarvel · 02/07/2019 23:54

Do you own both ugly over priced houses op?

AnnieOH1 · 02/07/2019 23:55

I'm also pretty local, the house itself (if you look past the garishness) does look quite nice but the closeness of the neighbouring property would put me right off. For a similar amount of money one could easily buy a property with acreage going out into the Peaks (both new and old). This seems extremely overpriced for a used new build in that area and with such a snug relationship to the neighbour!

PickAChew · 02/07/2019 23:56

Did I count 4 sets of table and chairs in there?

TheRedBarrows · 03/07/2019 00:02

It looks horrible: the worst kind of new build Developer Architecture . For a new house I would want something far more interesting / attractive than tedious little windows with fake lead lights, and stupid little dormer windows.
