Help me find a home...

What do MN's think of this house...

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-62476386.html

£550k is our max budget really... would have preferred 4beds? But lovely kitchen? Hmmm... trying to find a house is exhausting.

It's definitely only 3 bedrooms so might not do the job. Personally, I'd find it too many levels to run up and down, especially to the loo. And the outside space is tiny. And parking must be a nightmare.

Do you have any practical requirements or just want something cute?

Ladymargarethall · 18/06/2019 17:47

Never had this happen before but the pictures made me feel cold!

Lookingforanewhome · 18/06/2019 17:54

Looking for 4 beds - two spare and one office space (I work from home). We are planning on starting a family in the future, but not for at least a couple of years. Yeah loo on the top floor, my DH wasn't impressed with that.

I like 3 floors, not sure why... just like having separate spaces. Probably because I work from home. Not into New Builds. We don't drive so dont need a car space :)

@Ladymargarethall oooh how come? It's very modern.

Not a great layout for when you have a family to be honest- toilet training would be a nightmare

Lookingforanewhome · 18/06/2019 17:59

@CatToddlerUprising Gosh, you don't think of these things when kids aren't on the horizon. Good point. Shame, I was hoping to use this post to convince hubby. He didn't like it AT ALL - both set on a town house though. Market seems really slow!!!!

When I see houses like this that are obviously ' very staged ' I think they are desperate to sell and have employed a professional to do it for them.
At the end of the day of it floats your boat go and see it unless it's already owned by you

LuLuLuLuLooooo · 18/06/2019 18:01

I really like it!

It's three beds plus an office, so you wouldn't need to use a bedroom to wfh.

And there's pleantly of space on the ground and lower floors so you might be able to add a downstairs loo.

I do worry about those lower ground floors being really dark though (it doesn't look it in the pics but they have all the lights on!). Perhaps visit on a grey day to see how it feels?

Lookingforanewhome · 18/06/2019 18:01

Already seen it! I liked the location too as we don't drive! Wish some new houses would come on. It was immaculate and they have kids! I can barely keep mine like that when its just me!!!

OP posts:
Lookingforanewhome · 18/06/2019 18:02

@VictoriaBun what do you think is staged? Because its so lovely and clean?

OP posts:
Lookingforanewhome · 18/06/2019 18:04

Its rained every day here for 2 weeks... it was quite dark but when the lights were on it was fine. I feel like my DH is saying no to everything!

Bedroom three in that is beyond tiny. It's not really a bedroom. It's really a two bed house. And with kids the split level will be difficult.

OliviaBenson · 18/06/2019 18:04

I love it and it has an office so 3-beds would be ok? I think it's great!

Bluntness100 · 18/06/2019 18:06

This one looks better for your needs.

78percentLindt · 18/06/2019 18:06

Only having one loo would put me off.
In effect having a designated office would probably mean 3 beds are enough?
WHat does the PP referred to in the details add to the property.

Lookingforanewhome · 18/06/2019 18:10

@78percentLindt WHat does the PP referred to in the details add to the property. - what does that mean? Sorry...

@Bluntness100 it does! I wonder why its only £530k... thats a lot of house in that area for that price??? DEFO worth a view.

OP posts:
Lookingforanewhome · 18/06/2019 18:11

How can you tell how long its been on for? @Bluntness100

PP = planning permission

tinkywinkyshandbag · 18/06/2019 18:16

Not a bad price for a house with parking in that part of Cheltenham. Lovely kitchen and bathroom. Bedrooms a bit on the small size. What age/stage are your kids?

78percentLindt · 18/06/2019 18:16

The estate agent details refer to planning permission for an extension being granted last year. You can check it online using the applcation details
application number 18/02325/FUL f

JoJoSM2 · 18/06/2019 18:17

So what did your husband not like about the house?

I'm just cringing at the thought of living in that type of property with a baby or toddler. Not sure where you'd even put a buggy?

Or how do you entertain? With everyone in the basement? Or guests upstairs, and hosts running up and down?

I'm sure people make it work somehow for the sake of living in a cute house in a lovely town but it does sound really hard work...

Heratnumber7 · 18/06/2019 18:19

I love it!

Although if you need 4 bedrooms it's not the right house for you.

I'd buy it if I could afford it.

JoJoSM2 · 18/06/2019 18:21

That other house look great! DEFO have a look ;)

Sirrah · 18/06/2019 18:24

The plans are here. publicaccess.cheltenham.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=PI69EAELMWG00

They are to turn the lower ground floor into a master suite, the ground floor looks more modern with a large kitchen diner.

PinkOboe · 18/06/2019 18:48

Our friends used to live just down the road from there. It’s a handy location but I always found it very noisy and densely populated. Parking was a nightmare (consideratin for guests even if you don’t drive) and once they started families they moved out as catchment schools weren’t great.
