If you have a shaker kitchen, what type of worktop do you have?

I'm pretty much decided on some kind of light quartz but can't decide whether to go white white (might this look cheap?) or a white/grey marble type effect...although I just got a sample and I'm not too sure about it.

Any thoughts/pics gratefully received!

I have a stone coloured shaker kitchen with a white quartz top that has grey flecks in it.

@Whereareyouscooter that's gorgeous! Can I ask where you got it from and how much it cost? Thanks so much

It's from Jewsons but I'm sorry I don't know the cost - the house was built by a local developer and he put it in. We were able to choose it but could only choose from there. I don't think it's a very expensive shop though.

We're having silestone crema stellar with our off-white shaker kitchen. It's lovely - kind of sandy coloured with a tiny bit of sparkle. I am very excited!

I have a slate coloured shaker kitchen with Carrera marble patterned quartz. I just had it done and I'm so pleased!

We have a grey/white flecked granite. It’s bombproof and doesn’t show marks. Units are antique white for the island and grey for the rest of the kitchen.

Our doors are off white (grey hue instead of cream) and washed oak worktops. We didn't get to choose (new build) and probably not what I would have picked but I have to say it looks lovely together. We've had grey flooring put down and it ties it all together quite nicely

sue51 · 06/03/2019 21:01

I have black sparkle quartz on cream units and grey marble worktops on the blue island. We have a limestone floor and all the elements work well together.

Notname · 07/03/2019 00:08

Our units are light griege and dark green (island) and we have white quartz. I wasn’t sure about having white with light units but saw it in a briachure and it looked good, and am v v pleased with it.

I went with oak as my budget couldn't stretch to quartz. I didn't want an orange look though so stained it with osmo oil with a white tint. I'm chuffed with the results

@Whereareyouscooter that looks amazing. We currently have ivory shaker style cupboards we are keeping but are having new floor and worktop. I was struggling to think what the combination of pale floor tiles and work surface would look like. I wasn't sure if it would be too bland but yours looks fab.
I had been thinking of light grey tiles to go on the floor and a grey coloured quartz worktop to coordinate but I think I may change my mind now.

Jencottage · 07/03/2019 07:21

Excuse the morning mess we went dark grey with dark wood counters white stone around sink / copper mosaic around oven (matches floor colour)

I have a light grey kitchen and white quartz with a small fleck. It is pale though - but was advised to get the fleck to avoid noticing every single crumb etc and from a friend’s worktop with less of one am very glad I did!

(Pic is my utility not main kitchen as don’t seem to have one of that on my phone but it’s the same throughout so you get the idea.)

Thank you so much for all the replies! @Stylinit @dazzlingdeborahrose @Jencottage @boredboredboredboredbored @BubblesBuddy your kitchen are all absolutely stunning.

@Stylinit I think yours looks most similar to what mine will be colour-wise, great tip about the grey flecks-I hadn't thought about being able to see all the crumbs so that is super helpful.

I think I will go for the carrara quartz 😊

If anyone is thinking of using The Shaker Kitchen Company, I'd avoid.

Advice to potential customers: think carefully before handing over 100 % before your cabinetry is even in the UK. There's absolutely no incentive for TSKC to ensure customer satisfaction 😢. Lovely kitchens though!

RogueV · 08/03/2019 19:16

I have a sage shaker and off white subtle marble quartz worktops.
They’re beautiful

fishseddy · 08/03/2019 19:26

Thanks for the tip @StandingOvulation! After much deliberation I'm going with handmade kitchens direct.... although a little part of me is wondering if I'm making a mistake to not get it from DIY kitchens as it's so much cheaper 😱 So difficult making all these decisions!

@RogueV that sounds gorgeous!

Whereareyouscooter, can I ask where your units are from?

AlexaAmbidextra · 09/03/2019 01:18

Bubbles. I like your little dog. 😄

ChocDee · 09/03/2019 01:41

I have an IKEA shaker kitchen that I am just doing the finishing touches to now - I am still playing around with the splash back.

We went dark charcoal with shedloads of lovely flecks and gorgeousness.

Some gorgeous kitchens on here. Good luck OP in getting sorted. Just for reference here's a closeup if the quartz in our kitchen. It's called hailstorm. It's a bit darker than we planned but turned out to be a happy accident as it has the greys similar to kitchen doors but also some brown which picks up the oak too.
