Oooh good post. I always read a post if I see PigletJohn’s commented cos I know they’re sensible, detailed and really helpful even if of no immediate applicability to a practical matter in my life or house. Thanks PJ!

And another thank you.

I really struggle with knowing how to deal with maintenance issues and always search Mumsnet first. When you respond to someones post PigletJohn I feel that the information Is 100% trustworthy.

You have also directly helped me with a couple of issues.

I do really appreciate your help and responses to all the questions we ask.

Freddiesgirl · 21/01/2019 21:24

@Pigletjohn what first drew you to this forum? Was it a happy accident?

Just echoing this, and all the other sentiments on the thread. Everyone should have a trusted voice of authority on practical domestic matters and you're IT, PJ. And I'm curious why you ended up as the MN guru ...

Thegreatestshow · 22/01/2019 08:36

Calling Pigletjohn or any other building experts. We need to insulate the space between the ceiling and the roof as our house is freeeezing. We have a flat roof with sloping sides. Should we take down the ceiling to do this? I am told that the inside is lath and plaster. Would injections or insulation be better? Don’t want to spend a fortune on this as I know insulation can be a diy job (if we didn’t have a ceiling in the way!). Any ideas on cost or recommendations of people who could do this in London would be great too. Thank you!

Agree as a fellow John i have no idea how he has the time to post such detailed replies nearly every day for the last umpteen years.i think a petition to rename the DIY forum to the piglet John appreciation forum would be approved by the admins straight away!Grin
