Anyone fancy posting pics of their open plan kitchen/living/dining rooms? I'm after inspiration. Also to be extra cheeky can you add room dimensions if you know them to help me visualise my space. I have an architect coming next week who will do cad drawings but I want ideas to discuss when I meet her. Many thanks 🙂

I would also love to see that. Combining photos and dimensions is really helpful so do please share!

Ooh nothing to post but I would love to see people's open plan kitchens - we are planning ours this year..

Baxdream · 16/01/2019 09:20

Here's ours. We decided not to have a sofa in it but have a separate lounge and snug instead. Don't underestimate how big the space needs to be to fit all of it in

Dimensions are 11 metres by 5 metres ish in dining area and 7ish in kitchen

Hoppahouse · 16/01/2019 16:04

Baxdream - can how do you access your kitchen?
I'm having a massive design wobble and wondering about changing entry in to the kitchen through the snug / dining area so the kitchen will have more wall space... but I'm just not sure!

Baxdream · 16/01/2019 17:17

This is our way in. It's a 50s semi with big side extension.
Good luck it's really hard getting it right!

Thank you Bax. Is this entering in to the dining room? Does it feel ok that way? So worried about our kitchen plan now and whether to move the door opening or if it will be awkward. 🤷‍♀️
Yours looks great btw!

Baxdream · 16/01/2019 17:41

Yes. We don't have any other way in. The snug is just behind me on the left and the lounge on the right.
It feels right it working this way.

Rhica · 16/01/2019 19:33

Baxdream it's beautiful. Thanks so much for posting. 🙂It's been really helpful especially the tip about the size. One of the builders that quoted me made me have doubts about the size of our extension but what I definitely don't want is to produce another cramped room. It's why we want an extension in the first place

We have kitchen with an island, dining table area and a tv and sofa area. Knocked through kitchen and dining room. Blocked up lounge and added single storey extension. We love it.

Any other pictures from anyone. I would be very grateful 🙏😊

This is ours. It’s an 8m x 7m room I think? Kitchen not entirely finished yet but you get the idea.

You enter the room by coming down the stairs.

Can’t upload more than three photos. Length of room (which was three rooms knocked into one) is about 11 meters long and at widest 15 meters wide (there’s various widths (bear kitchen is laundry room). I painted the units and all furniture myself.

@Linguaphile,

You changed the splashback?

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 19/01/2019 17:04

@Baxdream Are those real Eames dining chairs or repro?

Linguaphile · 19/01/2019 17:19

@mum2015

No, we just haven’t put one in yet! Still deciding. Blush

mum2015 · 19/01/2019 17:38

I liked those grey stone tiles a lot which you had posted in a different thread. They looked lovely and fresh and cool, just I thought might be hard to clean. But they were behind sink and not hob so may be cleaning not much of an issue.

wishingitwasfriday · 19/01/2019 17:50

Wow! Those are some seriously beautiful kitchen/diners. We are just waiting to complete on a 1930s house and will be knocking through to make a kitchen diner. Unfortunately the room will only be 4m by 7.5m so not as big as any of the ones shown. Can't wait to get started!

Linguaphile · 19/01/2019 19:07

@mum2015 Yes those are still in the running, just need to do down and make a decision once we catch our breath. 😅

Baxdream · 19/01/2019 20:55

Oh definitely repro. We'd pretty much used up our budget at that point. I'd love to change the chairs to softer material ones

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 19/01/2019 21:09

@Baxdream Would you mind sending me a pm re: where you bought them (assuming you like them!)
I've seen loads of repro Eames online and I guess some will be ok, and some will be crap!

Rhica · 20/01/2019 09:05

Oh these are all so beautiful. Thanks for posting! You've been really helpful and given me lots of ideas 😊. They look like pictures out of magazines. That's what I'm aiming for lol.

Adore the beach- I'm intrigued- I assume that is the external wall you had removed? Am I right in assuming the pillars are in the middle so they don't need to be at the end? My architect said we need to leave 60cm of wall at the end because it's the corner of the house but that seems like loads. I've spoken to a friend who builds extensions and he says they only leave 20cm 🤷 he lives 200 miles away do wondering if building regs differ from region to region

@baxdream love the flooring! Would you mind me asking for the details please?
