Anyone fancy posting pics of their open plan kitchen/living/dining rooms? I'm after inspiration. Also to be extra cheeky can you add room dimensions if you know them to help me visualise my space. I have an architect coming next week who will do cad drawings but I want ideas to discuss when I meet her. Many thanks 🙂

Rhica,

Whaty architect told me is if you leave part of existing wall, it will be 60 to 80 cm. If you remove it and build a new column, it would 30x30cm. The max span can be 5m between wall and column. You can avoid column if you are using frame beam which is more expensive. Now I don't like my architect because she used to take a long time for everything but to some extent I believed her technically.

These are beautiful kitchens! Linguaphile - can I ask where your kitchen is from? We are looking at the Luca from DIY kitchens which looks very similar.

I was going to post mine but it's a bit more lived in than these ones! Grin I would agree that you need more space than you'd think. Ours is a 30s semi with a full width extension on the back, and there's not really enough room for dining so we use the (open plan to) playroom/middle room. But that's mainly due to the enormous breakfast bar restricting space and needing access to the patio doors.

@rosybell It’s a Next 125 kitchen by Schuller. I think most Schuller dealers will have it on offer depending on where you are in the country!

Wow loving all these beautiful spaces!

We have started an extension and the building work alone is coming to £40,000. On top of that we need to pay for the kitchen, flooring, paint, bathroom etc. I think we're looking at a £65,00+ spend.

We didn’t even do any renovations as ours was a new build, and all in (including bits that haven’t been done yet like the box above the island for lights and extractor) the kitchen cost just under 25k. It was way more than I expected! 😳

Thanks mum 2015. She never told us that but that might gives us so much more flexibility.

Mist9- that's my biggest fear not having it big enough. We are always having lots of people round and don't want to replace one cramped space for another. Yet don't want it too look too big it looks odd for the house. It so difficult

Openup41- where are you based? We live in the NW and was quoted £43-£53k for an 8x3 extension. This involved knocking down internal walls, and £5k for the kitchen

Beautiful kitchens! Do you have separate living rooms too? If not, do you find it odd sitting in such a big space in the evenings? We have a through lounge and dining room and I'd love to close it back off and open the diner to the kitchen instead.

Bax, love your big copper light!
