Completed this morning but vendors still in!

Aargh, I could cry.

Completed and money wasn't received by the vendors solicitors at 9:30am.
We are all ready and waiting, it the eatat agents say they need a few more hours. No chain, and they have somewhere to go, so no idea why.
Is this common? When do we start kicking up a fuss about wanting to go to our house?

How frustrating, have you managed to call the solicitor ore.a. to fi d out what time they were told to hand over keys, if they were given a time. Is there somewhere you can drive out to for a break.

AjasLipstick · 22/06/2018 14:42

AS Crisps says, have you actually gone up and said "Hello....how are you all doing?" or anything? Or just parked some distance away and glowered?

WindyWednesday · 22/06/2018 14:42

You might not be able to chill. You may be in for a cleaning session. If the are CF they’ve probably left a mess.

PeppermintPasty · 22/06/2018 14:42

Sorry, I should clarify, I DO tell people when they can expect to be in-by the time specified in the contract if not before. But they only get in before if circumstances allow it, i.e. As said, if the property is already vacant.

The reality is that there is little you can do if they take an hour or two longer. That is unsatisfactory on their part, but the law can really only intervene if they now decide to break the contract by staying put or something. Doesn't sound like they're doing that, sounds like they're very unprepared.

Passmethecrisps · 22/06/2018 14:42

Any damage done would be theirs to fix in believe. It would be in Scotland. You get 30 days from moving in where any repairs are the responsibility of the seller. Not sure what counts as a repair - we had a shower fixed for example

Passmethecrisps · 22/06/2018 14:44

Oh! So sorry - I missed the finger bit. That’s appalling.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 22/06/2018 14:45

In that case, they clearly are feeling harassed, even if that isn't the intention of your husband and inlaws sitting in the car looking at the house.

Hmm some people are just arseholes you know.

Sorry I have no advice OP it sounds really stressful.

NotAnotherUserName5 · 22/06/2018 14:45

Solicitors are contacting theirs. No update yet.
We've left them to it. Obviously they must be stressed, as this day took them by complete surprise...

OliviaStabler · 22/06/2018 14:48

OliviaStabler-they came over to the car and gave the middle finger to them shock

How awful!

TwoBeaversAreBetterThanOne · 22/06/2018 14:49

So what time was in the contract?

NotAnotherUserName5 · 22/06/2018 14:52

TwoBeaversAreBetterThanOne-I don't know. Solicitor spokd to my husband at 2pm and said they should of been out of the property by now.
Whdh they call back will ask if there was a time.

^ this unfortunately

Pretty sure they wont be running late because they are busy cleaning.

HeGotManFlu · 22/06/2018 14:53

I would ask the solicitors to tell them they have to be out by a certain time, maybe 4pm at the latest. You want to move into your new home, get the baby settled, clean the place, it will be late by the time you have sorted yourselves out. We were out by lunchtime, we left the place spotless. I think it's unfair, they should have been given a deadline. I hope you have gone and found somewhere quiet to sit, can you go to your in-laws for a bit. Hope it gets sorted soon.

SharpieHorder · 22/06/2018 15:01

If they're rude and dragging their feet it sounds as if it may have been a forced sale or the vendors dislike where they are going. It's personal and petty if that's the case, and I hope you don't have to deal with them again for any reason. Its horribly stressful, all of this, and I hope it goes smoothly from now on, OP.

foresthas · 22/06/2018 15:02

We haven't being harassing them. In laws sat in the car with my DH.
Not right outside or spoken to them.

Why are they all sitting outside the house in a car saying nothing, just waiting? Confused They obviously know who it is if they went up to the car to give the middle finger.

What time was agreed upon beforehand?

NotAnotherUserName5 · 22/06/2018 15:02

Really hope it's been left ok. It's going to be a long night as it is.

We've been good buyers-not messed them around or done anything that could have warranted a shit in the fridge etc

It's my little girls birthday tomorrow and we've been all excited about having it in the house. At this rate, they'll be there asking for a slice of bloody cake

OliviaStabler · 22/06/2018 15:02

I agree about askling the solicitors to agree a mutual time if the can. If they can state, right we will be out by 4pm then, you will at least have a time to work towards.

Monkeypuzzle32 · 22/06/2018 15:04

start charging themrent if they are not out by a certain time! If they had spoken to you nicely instead of giving you the middle finger this could have been resolved easily!

NotAnotherUserName5 · 22/06/2018 15:05

foresthas-we were to is my condors at 10am they needed 2 more hours, and then would be gone.
They went up there 2 hours later expecting them gone, or about to leave.

OP posts:
NotAnotherUserName5 · 22/06/2018 15:06

Stupid iPhone typing!

We were told they needed 2 more hours at 10am so inlaws went up expecting them gone

NotAnotherUserName5 · 22/06/2018 15:08

SharpieHorder-beginning to think they didn't want to sell but had to for some reason.

I completed on a property in February, we didn't get keys to 1pm and our poor purchaser couldn't get the keys to our house til we had cleared it out which was around 2/3 🙈

CrochetBelle · 22/06/2018 15:16

Come on, you were kind of expecting it...

ThatsPoker · 22/06/2018 15:19

This happened to me - we completed by 11.30, we rocked up at the house at 1pm, vendor was moaning they hadn't finished packing (the packers came late the night before) and by 3pm they were still loading the lorries that clearly couldn't fit all their stuff on.
So, shed was emptied onto driveway and all contents left behind.

It was FILTHY. Literally all they had done was chuck bleach down the loo, and i was itching to clean, so in the end, i literally walked into the house, and said i was going to clean while they continued moving stuff out. Vendor was super pissed off by this, even though legally it was now my house. The house reeked of wet dog, and was utterly filthy i can't tell you. Found a collection of toe nail cuttings in the corner of the living room.
