Dream building has gone up for sale at £1.2 million...

A very historic grade 2, 10 bedroom building that I've dreamed about for a few years now.

I could make a few rooms into a b&b, it has a two rooms perfect For wedding receptions/small registry type functions. 2.5 acres of garden perfect for marquee events. There's also a side building of 7 offices... That's a few grand rent a month there. In my head it can all work out.

It's literally in the middle of the city but hidden away.. you can walk around the garden and not be overlooked by anyone.

God I want it. I have some management experience and I'm currently a (graduate) event planner. But not enough for others to invest in me (I'm just a girl with a dream).

I'm tempted to buy a book of Amazon 'how to achieve the unbelievable at the bank' and see what happens...

I'm somewhat hoping you'll all tell me that this is totally possible and maybe someone has their own success stories?

I'll lend you a fiver to get started Grin

Auntieaunt · 30/04/2018 09:32

Cheers fadedred. What would the interest be on that loan?

Got to make sure you're not an undercover loan shark ;)

Go for it!

Blushlove · 30/04/2018 09:58

I'm in for a fiver too 😃 I wish it could be more, sounds like a great dream x

BigFatBloomers · 30/04/2018 10:00

Mumsnet crowd funder then, once you’re enormously successful you can invite us all for an amazing afternoon tea!!

Auntieaunt · 30/04/2018 10:23

Just over a million and a bit to raise!!

Of course you'd all be invited over for tea and maybe if you donate a tenner I'll throw in a cream tea.

Everyone had to start somewhere right? Shame I can't get a small loan of a million dollars from my dad ;)

Joking aside would it ever be possible to get a million pound loan?

I'll throw a fiver in if I can have dibs on two rooms for a week in summer Grin

Auntieaunt · 30/04/2018 10:29

putacrossonthedoor

You can have two if you furnish them to my liking. Not the kind of place you can have IKEA. Also the rooms are huge, maybe we should put bunk beds in to make them forms so everyone can stay?

Mumsnet holiday!! Smile

FleeceDetective · 30/04/2018 10:30

Can we have a link? I love a bit of property porn

scurryfunge · 30/04/2018 10:31

There's a 13 bedroom house near me for sale for £450k. Is that nearer your budget Grin . Needs a bit of work.

Chanelprincess · 30/04/2018 10:32

Absolutely yes, with a watertight business case. It's really not a great deal on money by today's standards.

Auntieaunt · 30/04/2018 10:37

I'm being greedy incase someone wants to buy it so I'm not posting the link (If I can't have nobody can ;) )

I've included a picture of my favourite room as it has a grand piano (obviously I'd ask for the piano as part of the deal).

😩 I love it! More pictures... 😂

BigFatBloomers · 30/04/2018 10:42

We need a diagram!

ILikeMyChickenFried · 30/04/2018 10:43

Oh wow. It's beaitiful

Auntieaunt · 30/04/2018 10:44

Tbh the kitchen is a good size but would need seriously redoing (but I wouldn't mind as it's clean and totally livable -guests wouldn't see it anyway-).

The bathrooms are bogstandard. Three ensuite and one communal that would need redoing.

The 'house' used to belong to the church so most of it was used as offices.

Auntieaunt · 30/04/2018 10:45

bigfatbloomers I'd need all day to draw a diagram.

FadedRed · 30/04/2018 10:51

That is a truly lovely building, Op! Easy to see why you have fallen in love with it.
I'll raise my fiver to fifty quid and no interest. Cream tea is negotiable......

BigFatBloomers · 30/04/2018 10:53

I’d be happy with just a rough sketch!

Auntie I think you’re safe. Didn’t spot yours.

Auntieaunt · 30/04/2018 10:55

The garden is supposedly the largest in the city. In the hussle of the city you can sit in the middle of the garden and only hear birds. It's honestly such a magical place.

So mumsnetters, any other ideas apart from renting out offices/weddings/b&b/corporate marquee events I could have?

I live near you Auntieaunt, that popped up on my rightmove feed this morning Wink I agree it's a totally amazing building! Shall we go halves??

Auntieaunt · 30/04/2018 11:01

mammabear I almost forget that other people live in this small city.

Maybe ill sell the rooms at 100k each (don't worry easily get a few doubles in each room) we can do this.

Gunpowder · 30/04/2018 11:04

It looks gorgeous! What a fab idea.

fruitbrewhaha · 30/04/2018 11:06

It's lovely OP.

Can you borrow £1 million? Yes absolutely. Most businesses require funding. But you need to put up an amount.

You could rent the offices out as serviced offices. The spaces in the house could be used during the week for corporate events/meetings.

Is there parking? Parking would be a real bonus for city centre.

Crowdfunding works well for property, as there is an intrinsic value, rather than betting on someone's idea/product. You would also need funding to renovate etc, but it's hard to say how much, a building like that will be expensive to work on.

You need to find someone to put up a wedge of cash.
