Hands crown over to lubey

Holy crap, how the fuck is this level of ineptitude allowed to continue? We need a Twitter campaign #conveyancershit

Gizlotsmum · 27/10/2017 14:04

So house all packed, monies all moved,DH off to get key to new house whilst I amuse the kids for a bit so they aren’t under the removals men feet. Felt surreal leaving the old house, as much as I have little love for it. First time I have stopped all morning and I ache! Still got to unpack.. it could be a long process! But I am happy!

AnnPerkins · 27/10/2017 14:54

Ah Giz, that must be a lovely feeling.

Even after we exchange contracts I'm still going to feel sick every time I think about completion day. I can't shake the fear that I've done my sums wrong and someone is going to tell me they need something I can't give them and scupper the whole thing at the last minute.

lubeybooby · 27/10/2017 15:56

Oh look how funny. Finally getting to the bottom of it now we know the correct people to speak to...

Our buyer pulled out because it's taking too long. It's a bit different in that it's a housing company, not a person - anyway they have a budget and need to either spend or free up funds by the end of November

Having spoken to the right person we have managed to potentially save our sale if we can exchange in the next two weeks and complete end of Nov

This will not be possible with our current chain but we can and will immediately look at going into rented accommodation and breaking it for the sake of keeping our sale. It's a decent price and the market has dropped so we really don't want to try and sell again.

Also, our sale is pretty much at the point of exchange (has been for a while) so this FX will be actually possible

DP is on the phone to our solicitors now trying to find out that IF we decide yes we'll rent, is it possible to exchange within the given time frame...

If it is then we'll need to discuss where when and how RE: renting. This area or our new intended area? How much do we commit to spending on this? etc etc

LazyDailyMailJournos · 27/10/2017 16:02

Congratulations Giz! Wishing you many happy years in your new home Wine

FX Olivia

Ann I'm with you. At this stage, having been through all the problems and hassle you don't even dare dream that it might all go without a hitch!

Lubey I'm really pleased that you've managed to get to the bottom of things - and it sounds as if there is a decent chance of you being able to pull the sale back.

Good luck and positive vibes to everyone else Flowers

Small update here - managed to get hold of our solicitor. And our vendors' solicitor is now on the warpath because their vendors' solicitor (still with me?!), is the one refusing to respond to chasers or tell anyone what's going on!! Pressure is being applied via the EA and various solicitors so I am hoping we will get an update on Monday. It is just so frustrating that here we are - another week later - and still no further forward. I am fast coming to the conclusion that the people at the top of the chain don't actually plan on ever moving - they've just decided to throw themselves into a chain for shits and giggles...

SerialGoogler · 27/10/2017 16:02

Still glued to my phone. My solicitor says buyers ready to proceed just need to agree completion date up and down the chain. But in an interesting twist, neither my sol nor my vendors sol knew about the completion ultimatum... someone was telling porkies and I know exactly who!

lubeybooby · 27/10/2017 16:15

It is indeed possible to exchange next week if we decide we're breaking the chain.

DP doesn't like the thought, I do... we'll see what happens over the weekend I suppose... could go either way

AnnPerkins · 27/10/2017 17:21

Got a call from my solicitor, expected him to tell me we've exchanged but no, seller's seller's conveyancing co has not been contactable all afternoon, so it's failed for today.

Seller's EA has also just emailed to say the same conveyancers have not yet been able to confirm they will have funds from their lenders in time for the 10th. Which probably explains why they weren't contactable Hmm I've sent a shitty email back telling her they've got to get it sorted.

I am really going off seller's sellers. They've caused every problem in this chain. I think our buyers and their buyers will go a bit bonkers when they find out what's happened and who's responsible.

Serial - who's been telling porkies???

Lubey - I'm with you. For the sake of keeping the sale I would rent in the area I was moving to. Good luck.

SerialGoogler · 27/10/2017 17:23

Didn't exchange because sellers solicitors CLOSED EARLY!!! Their slime of an estate agent had me and my buyers tearing our hair our to make what turned out to be his fictitious fucking deadline. Now I have to wait until Monday with completion on the Friday so I can't do any planning or booking removals until then. Which isn't ideal when I have an actual day job to do.
How can they get away with actual lying (I've caught him out before so I should have known better) and still sleep at night???

lubeybooby · 27/10/2017 18:57

today has been spectacular for fuckwittery

Nessalina · 27/10/2017 19:30

Well we did not exchange today! Where's my fuckwittery crown?! Sad

Turns out Mr Vendor was actually in an onward chain of no less than FIVE houses that no one had thought to mention Angry So they couldn't all agree on next Thurs completion, and the top of their chain actually didn't even want to complete until December, so after a LOT of ringing round, finally the vendors EA determined that Mr Vendor was happy to break the chain and complete with us on Thurs.

But then it turns out our incredibly naive FTBs decided earlier in the week to mention to the mortgage lender that there's no building regs for a wall knocked down fifteen fucking years ago in our place, so their case has had to go back for approval Shock The solicitors had been assured that they'd get an email okaying it today, but it never arrived, and our buyers were incommunicado all day. So it's Monday or bust now!!

I missed about ten messages whilst writing my last update!

Yoga WTF is wrong with your idiot EAs! Why would they think you'd want to hear from those fuckwits again?!

Serial What a massive wankbadger! Angry That's just totally out of order.

Ann Thats not good... and hiding to avoid telling the bad news is pretty damn shady too! What happens if it can't happen for 10th?!

Lubey well done on getting to the bottom of things!! It sounds like getting exchanged and breaking the chain is the right call especially if the market is slowing down - you'll be in a good position to move forward at whatever pace is needed. Good luck!!

Giz Huge congratulations! SmileFlowers

Be back when caught up fully...

LazyDailyMailJournos · 27/10/2017 19:34

Bloody hell Ness Angry

I am sitting drinking prosecco. Curry is in the oven and I am not going to think about house buying or selling all weekend. We will start again on Monday, full of optimism (ha!) Grin

Nessalina · 27/10/2017 19:53

Lazy - I'm so annoyed on your behalf, how is it acceptable for your chain to be held up by one set of muppets? Is there any chain-breaking opportunity for anyone to cut them out of the equation?

yoomoo Your story of people not getting it probably explains why our FTBs were oblivious that we needed them to move by month end despite it being explained to them by several parties Hmm

Stormy It sounds like you've done the right thing, good of your agent to take half the hit. I hope that's the last cheekiness from your buyer...

Bunny I have crown envy Grin

LazyDailyMailJournos · 27/10/2017 19:58

Ness sadly not. We'd already asked if the people holding us up would break the chain. All we got back was a rather patronising "They are grateful for your patience and it will all be resolved in a few days" - i.e. No, go away, fuck off, we'll go when we're ready and not a moment before!

I just want to be in my new house! I want to be able to walk through the rooms thinking about curtains and candles and cushions! I want to be in my new kitchen and look at my lovely new dishwasher (that I have been waiting 11 years for...)

WhatwouldOliviaPopedo · 27/10/2017 20:14

Bloody hell, what a day it's been for everyone!

Lubey That's great you have the option for breaking the chain. I can see why your DH is reticent, but maybe you could get a short-term Airbnb that won't be as costly as going back on the market and selling for a lot less. FX you can work something out.

As for everyone else (apologies for not going through name by name, but I'm so exhausted right now my eyeballs actually itch), it sounds like there is so much fuckwittery going on with chains and stupid buyers and vendors that all I can really suggest is get stuck into the Gin and FX for next week.

As for us... OUR BUYER HAS HER FUCKING MONEY AT LAST!!! The funds are all paid in and will show in her account first thing Monday morning so we'll exchange then - everyone's primed - and then complete on Friday.

Thanks for all the hand-holding. I honestly wouldn't have made it to this stage without all you lovely lot Flowers.

perhapstomorrow · 27/10/2017 20:27

Congratulations giz. Hopefully we will be in a similar position next Friday. I do keep worrying that something is still going to go wrong. I am just immersing myself in all the packing to try and take my mind off it.

To all of you that haven't exchanged today, I hope you get some rest from the moving process this weekend and you have better luck next week.

LazyDailyMailJournos · 27/10/2017 20:41

Yay Olivia!!! Wine

Nessalina · 27/10/2017 20:50

Marvellous news Olivia! About time eh! Fx for all going smoothly. At least someone had good news today!

A sexy new dishwasher is not much to ask Lazy!! You deserve one with bells on. Frustrating that upward chain are so bloody laissez faire Hmm

Bunnyfuller · 27/10/2017 21:05

Zero progress here. Well, apart from my trapped nerve/whatever going into overdrive and me a gibberish mess at the doctors at 4pm. Trying 3rd lot of meds, and if no improvement it'll be an injection and referral to hospital. Bone infection was mentioned, if there's any possible way I can give it to my buyer's buyer who has caused all the problems I will do it.

I had happy thoughts for your move today Giz, and my fury knows no bounds for the rest of us suffering with these tossmonkeys.

Let's all have a lovely weekend , everyone must have cake and booze xxx

Gizlotsmum · 27/10/2017 21:29

We are in! Surrounded by boxes and so much to do but stopping for tonight. Beds are made and ready.. kids asleep. After a major hissy fit we have electricity, heat and hot water ( none of which were sorted on arrival)

So many little things have done my head in today and I felt so underwhelmed when we started but I feel better now and am gradually seeing the good through the bad...

More unboxing tomorrow after getting curtain poles and curtains sorted....but we are in and warm and can see so many stars it is worth it.

Gizlotsmum · 27/10/2017 21:42

Oh my word @Ness how ridiculous!

@ann oh no.. hope it can still be done

@lazy i’d Start being less patient

@olivia Yay

@serial oh my word I would go mad!

@everyone else ( sorry my brain is fried) I really hope all the fuckwittery stops soon.

We need to get our mums net agency started soon

Pixiedust1973 · 27/10/2017 22:55

Congrats on the move Giz Enjoy your first night in your new home.

Can't believe the shit everyone else is having to go through. Shock

After our buyers buyers finally having their survey done on Wednesday, (new lender many weeks in due to their original lender refusing to lend after discovering they'd defaulted on a payment on a previous mortgageHmm) we now await confirmation that they have a concrete offer. Hopefully will have that news next week.

Buyer popped over again this afternoon with their parents so they could see what they're buying. Everyone seemed happy enough, despite the place being a bit messy with our stuff that we're sorting out ready to move. Still hoping for exchange within 2 weeks so we don't have exchange & complete too close together. Been there, done that. No thanks!

yoomoo · 28/10/2017 08:46

Morning all, just catching up. Giz glad you got in ok, let the unpacking begin! You’ll be settled in no time.
I heard back from my solicitor yesterday and it’s their protocol that in divorce cases they have to write to both of us at our resident addresses, I suppose to stop potential forged signatures if things are bad and one party doesn’t want to sell? Anyway my ex received the contracts yesterday so he’s signed them and is sending back today via recorded delivery so the solicitor will have them Monday. Fingers crossed all being well I’ll get them along with my purchase ones middle of next week. I think realistically we’re not going to exchange next week but fingers crossed for the week after which means end of November completion. I’m off to try out some mattresses in John Lewis this morning so I know which one to order once we’ve exchanged! Hope everyone has a good weekend.

lubeybooby · 28/10/2017 09:26

Whatwouldoliviapopedo thank you for the Airbnb suggestion, that just might swing it today and YAY for a Monday exchange! Flowers

Well done Giz and congratulations on being in!

LazyDailyMailJournos · 28/10/2017 09:53

Well done Giz - glad you are finally in!!

Quiet weekend I think - nothing more we can do as we are all packed and sorted. So a case of resting and building energy ready for the Monday morning assault!! Grin I am determined to exchange next week - we've been trying now for 3 weeks.

Yoo FX for exchange next week. The separate addresses protocol makes sense but it's great your Ex has already sorted his.

Pixie sounds positive - hopefully they'll get their offer and you can all make some progress.

Bunny Ouch! Hope that they can give you something more effective for the pain.

Ness hope baby Ness is doing well Flowers

Lubey good luck for Monday - I'll see you on the "Let's do this today" bench first thing! Grin
