Argh! Just chased our EA to see if he's heard anything and received an out of office reply saying he's doing a new role within the agency AS FROM YESTERDAY. No warning, no message. So God knows who's in charge of our sale now. AngryAngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

Gizlotsmum · 27/10/2017 09:21

@Olivia oh no... hopefully he has done a hand over but you think someone would have told you

WhatwouldOliviaPopedo · 27/10/2017 09:25

Exactly my thoughts, Giz! I know it'll be fine but not to warn us is appalling. Just when I couldn't think any worse of our EA.

Anyhow, enough of me - GOOD LUCK with your move today. So pleased it's all worked out!

LazyDailyMailJournos · 27/10/2017 09:30

Olivia can you doorstep them in person? When I was getting the run around from my solicitor I drove to her office - surprisingly effective as it turns out that it's not so easy to fob someone off when they are standing in front of you!!

SerialGoogler · 27/10/2017 09:55

Okay, everything in place to exchange but no one has communicated the proposed completion date with my solicitor and he needs another day added to allow for the funds to come in from Lender. No doubt someone in the chain will kick off about that now.

lubeybooby · 27/10/2017 10:11

WhatwouldOliviaPopedo argghh! and FX for lots of good luck

Nessa yep, absolutely. So ridiculous... also positive exchange vibes coming your way. FX

Yoga I would be bloody fuming too!

Lazy FX for you

LazyDailyMailJournos · 27/10/2017 10:17

Serial can you pay a fee to get your funds sooner? Many of the lenders can release within 24 hours if necessary.

yoomoo · 27/10/2017 10:25

Good luck with the move today Giz and those waiting to exchange.

I'm feeling a bit frustrated today, got a reply from my solicitor to say we are nearly ready to exchange (just waiting on final lease for my apartment from the developer) but we're going to rely on snail mail. He's saying he's got to send the contracts to my ex husband first, then he sends them back, then he'll send them to me for signing along with my purchase contracts. This seems horribly inefficient as I thought they'd just all get sent to the house and I'd arrange to meet ex to get him to sign and then drop them back next day. Instead that process will likely take a week, SIGH Sad I just want it done now and don't understand why things can't be done efficiently. I can get them back in a day if they are sent to me!!! Anyway rant over, I'm popping in today to sign some divorce docs so I'll ask him face to face why they can't be sent to me to arrange signatures from my ex.

SerialGoogler · 27/10/2017 10:44

Thanks Lazy off to investigate!

LazyDailyMailJournos · 27/10/2017 10:47

Yoo I agree - ask for the contracts and explain that you and your Ex will meet at the same time to sign and that you'll get them back. Must be quicker!

yoomoo · 27/10/2017 10:53

Thanks Lazy I wasn't sure if I was missing something! Ex is more than happy for me to get the contracts and meet him for a signature. I'll have a chat with the solicitor today, everyone in the chain is keen to move ASAP so I'd rather not delay it all waiting for post to arrive. I live a 10 minute drive from the solicitors office so happy to go there to collect things!

YogaDrone · 27/10/2017 10:53

Wow Olivia - when my EA went on holiday for a week he emailed us to say who would deal with us in his absence. Can you ring the manager and ask them whilst making it clear you think it's pretty incompetent?

Very positive vibes coming your way Nessa Flowers

Oh yoomoo 19th century system for 21st century homebuying - wonderful. Perhaps they don't realise that you could facilitate with your ex? Or, if they have to do it that way perhaps they could fed-ex it rather than rely on royal mail to get the timescales down?

Once again it's lack of communication that causes delay Serial. It's such a common theme to everyone's chains. I hope you can manage to exchange today.

Very exciting Giz Grin hope completion happens quickly so that you can get unpacking!

AnnPerkins · 27/10/2017 11:13

Hi everyone! So our chain has all agreed to complete on the 10th - yay!

Don't know how the EA changed the previously-intransigent people's minds. Don't care either, just glad they did.

My EA has asked bottom of the chain's EA to push their solicitor to start the release. So we will hopefully exchange today, if not Monday.

Giz, how does it feel to be actually doing it now? Have you got the kettle on and a multitude of biscuits?

Yoga, your EA has let you down so badly this time. I hope your vendor comes through with the PX.

Good luck for exchanging today Nessa, Serial, Bunny - hope I haven't missed anyone.

Bunnyfuller · 27/10/2017 11:23

I awarded myself a 'fuckwittery of the day' award yesterday in light of the news that the bottom of the chain is oblivious to deposits, timescales and the entire process. I hope you like my crown

SerialGoogler · 27/10/2017 11:38

Bunny send it to your buyers! Unbelievable!!!

In my news, buyers sol is reviewing file, confirming money in their account and then I should be the call

SerialGoogler · 27/10/2017 11:38

*get

LazyDailyMailJournos · 27/10/2017 11:47

Bunny you look stunning Grin But I agree it's the bottom of the chain who need the award. Do people seriously expect to buy a house without having to pay money at some point?!

As for me, I am currently engaged in the super fun and rewarding past-time of Hunt the Solicitor! A game which is suitable for all ages but may not suit people with short tempers or little patience - i.e. Me.

OTOH hand I feel bad - I know she's busy with completions and everything else. OTOH I feel bloody pissed off, because if she'd called me back on Wednesday like she said she would then I wouldn't be chasing her right now

AnnPerkins · 27/10/2017 12:52

Bunny Grin

Come oooon Serial! We're all rootin' for ya.

Lazy, you're right, you shouldn't feel bad.

My solicitor isn't answering my emails today either. But I'll excuse him (for now) because it's Friday, his secretary is off and I've got a day or so in hand to wait.

StormyIsland · 27/10/2017 12:57

Good moving day vibes to Giz! Just trying to imagine what it will feel like waking up in the new house and the whole nightmare is over..

Lubey good luck with the viewings! Hopefully someone will make a nice offer quickly and you'll find a reliable buyer that proceeds quickly and doesn't mess people about. They must exist somewhere!! Your ea should be able to provide you with some explanation though. Seems so cruel just to pull out and leave no reason.

Fx for olivia, ann, serial and nessa!!!

Yoga all the positive feedback must mean your property should be easy to sell though. If none of it gives clear reason I wouldn't worry too much. And the fact you've already got a viewing booked is pretty encouraging. Fx!!! I don't think you're being ott with reacting to what your ea has done. Surely, surely, surely they should have checked with you first before contacting them?!?

yoomoo I agree with the others. I'd just go to them and ask for the contracts and het them signed myself. You could get them signed together and drive them back in no time!

Bunny so were they totally not aware of having to pay any deposit?!?! I'm still struggling to understand what to do about our deposit. I've told the solicitor loads of times we will need our sale or the mortgage towards the deposit as our deposit is 40k. I've asked her what we'll do about this but she's still failing to reply. I've suggested exchanging and completing on the same day but still she just ignores all that and talks about the stuff that needs to be done first before talking about all of that. fair enough other stuff needs to be sorted but I'd still like to know how we're going to sort it.

lazy hunt the solicitor Grin .. I think we all know that game..

Thanks so much everyone for the support. I would totally lose my *hit if there wasn't for this place.. We've slept on the whole issue and the ea has rung and said they'll pay half of the cost of getting the certificates. Turns out it's not even a certificate for the correct installation they want. I told them I've now found out they might have been issued in the first place and I just need to obtain copies of them from the people who did them. And ea said it's not enough as they want the boiler servicing and a proof that the electrocs and the boiler are currently working. FFS. Im bending over and taking it though. I've said we'll get it sorted and pay half of it. She's pissed me off big time though and I'll be taking everything I can when we move. I'll even dig out our lovely raspberry bush and take that! Feeling so petty. I wouldn't be surprised if she'd still have more trouble to cause. Worrying now there will be something wrong with the boiler or electrics and she'll pull out because of it. We've never had any trouble but that doesn't mean it's all ok. Feels like we're still so far of exchanging when a couple of weeks ago I thought we had a chance of completing this week. What a joke!

yoomoo · 27/10/2017 13:06

Bunny loving the crown Grin I'd like to say I'm surprised about the people not knowing they'd need to transfer money but sadly I'm not. I was in the developers office at the weekend talking to the sales lady about my appliances and a lady came in asking what the reservation process was. Sales lady explained you need to have a closed chain and then exchange in 4 weeks (standard for new builds which I think is actually the way to go as it puts some urgency into the chain!) for completion in March/April. The lady enquiring goes off on one completely rude asking how she can be homeless with 2 kids when exchange happens. No matter how many times the sales lady explained that exchange just means certainty everyone is committed the physical move won't happen till the house is ready (and chain will need to agree to that!) she just couldn't get it and stormed out saying they were going to make her and her 2 kids homeless 🤦🏼‍♀️ I sat there so confused!
Thanks for the replies on my situation I have just emailed the solicitor back and asked that the docs are sent here and that my ex will confirm in writing he's happy with that if necessary. Grrr I just want to be exchanged so I can get excited and order furniture!

LazyDailyMailJournos · 27/10/2017 13:13

Yoo I know. ATM I have a washer/dryer, which we are leaving, so I need a new washer, dryer (yay I will have room for separates!) and a dishwasher (no room in current place and boy I am looking forward to having one!). We want to try and get a interest free buy now, pay later deal - as there will be lots of things that need money when we move, so it would be handy not to have to spend £££ in a really short space of time.

I had planned to order with AO but you can't have separate delivery and billing addresses - which means that I wouldn't be able to take the finance out until the day we move. When that means that I have no credit history at the new house - and won't yet be on the electoral roll etc! I think we can get round this by using Argos instead, as they will allow a different address - which means I can order the stuff just before we move out of here and have it delivered to the new house. I just need a date!!!!

lubeybooby · 27/10/2017 13:30

I'd like to put in a late entry to fuckwittery of the day

Turns out the person we've been contacting about the problem isn't actually the person dealing with it all and this is why they know fuck all and we're getting nowhere

Just take a second to take that in

I am absolutely raging (inwardly) with the ineptitude of these people. How can you have no actual concept of your own fucking job title.

THEN the cheeky smegweasel tried to deflect the whole thing onto trying to sell our place again

NO WE'D LIKE TO FIND OUT WHY OUR BUYERS PULLED OUT AND ADDRESS THAT FIRST ID POSSIBLE IS THAT SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND fucking hell

lubeybooby · 27/10/2017 13:32

oh and before the close of business today which you bloody knew and yet still strung us along being a completely incompetent lying worm

yaaaaarghhhhhhhhh...

not going to manage this by the end of today now are we? all because someone doesn't actually possess enough brain cells to maybe tell us we are talking to the wrong person!

LazyDailyMailJournos · 27/10/2017 13:33

Oh lubey there really is a special place in hell for smarmy and lying EAs!! Our EA has been really good and well worth every penny we are paying. Our vendors' EA has been outright bloody useless - and that's before we get into the numerous lies they told us.

WhatwouldOliviaPopedo · 27/10/2017 13:50

So the EA who's changed jobs been shifted aside for a lesser role, I wonder why is still going to see us through to the bitter end. Money is apparently in transit as we speak...
