I've just read the thread on Valspar paint problems, having spent a small fortune on their unnecessarily large tester pots.

I'm back to the drawing board. I had kind of chosen Tea Party but wasn't entirely happy with it. So far paints are either too blue, too yellow, too minty or too dark. I want a nice lightish sage. Probably Dulux (quite like Kiwi Burst on their website). Can't afford F & B. Any suggestions anyone?

I'll come back to this tonight - I've tested a few recently. IIRC Crown Period paints do a pretty one.

VickieCherry · 10/08/2017 14:45

P.S. We used Valspar in our living room and it was absolutely fine. Maybe a bit patchy, but it's a medium blue so I'd expect it to be more tricky than something like cream to get looking perfect. No particular odour, would use again.

Thanks Vickie.
Apart from the smelly problem I've also heard that it's really thin and it needs to cover a very boldly printed feature wallpaper.

Get f&b colour matched at your local Johnstones store, it's the only paint I use at around 1/4 of F&B. They will also match any Little Greene paint co so tons of colour choice.

I can't get my camera to show a true colour, but in my living room I have Putting Green by Crown. I like it that much that I've had it this colour twice! It's definitely green, not yellow or blue, it's not a pastel, it's pale but still warm. Looks lovely with pink roses next to it.

I would paint every room in my house this colour if DP would let me.

Vert de Terre, Ball Green or Lichen from F and B. I like a silvery green which reflects light.

I have F&B Breakfast Room Green colour matched in Valspar and it went on perfectly. Got the slightly more expensive one though - love it!

fredabear · 10/08/2017 20:23

we used F&B stone white

We've got a lovely sage green from Zoffany.....Celadon, although it's described as a grey-green. We've got it in our hall, stairs and landing and get so many compliments on it.

I've used Crown Mellow Sage in my bedroom in our last 2 houses. Lovely

GeorgeTheHamster · 10/08/2017 20:59

I have had kiwi burst, in a toddler's room. It is LIME.

freelancedolly · 10/08/2017 22:29

F&B or Little Greene matched at Leyland.

Redyoyo · 10/08/2017 22:31

I have a tin of putting green by crown sitting waiting to go in my kitchen.

24HourPartyPerson · 10/08/2017 23:45

Thanks for the replies - have a day of tester pots coming up tomorrow! Crown Mellow Sage looks duck egg blue on my walls which is a shame because I thought it was perfect. And Kiwi Burst comes under lime on the Dulux chart but looks nice on the website - so thanks for the heads up! All others noted - thank you Smile

Laura Ashley willow?

Jurassic Stone, Dulux easy care, is beautiful. My house sold in 4 days with it all over the house!

Bobbiepin · 11/08/2017 00:02

Homebase do their own range, we have spring sage in our bedroom and I love it. Saved a fortune over the crown/dulux etc paints.

Excuse the unnecessary view into my bedroom but couldn't be bothered to take another picture!

I mentioned in a previous post that our bedroom has been Crown Mellow Sage (there's no hint of blue in it at all on our walls), but another poster has just reminded me that the other two bedrooms are Dulux Jurassic Stone. Not stone at all! Stunning, calming peaceful green.

Goosberry Fool by Dulux (one that has 1-6 shade variations)

Goosberry Fool 3 is a nice soft sage green

Allthebestnamesareused · 11/08/2017 12:18

Gooseberry Fool 3

You need 'sage' by wickes, ask at any local johnstones store to match.

marmiteisgod · 11/08/2017 12:49

Or maybe 'garnet' from fired earth, also can be matched by johnstones

Another vote for Farrow & Ball Vert de Terre. Gorgeous colour.

^^ Sorry, just reread your post. Obviously F&B can be colour matched!

jennylindinha · 11/08/2017 13:05

I used to have a room painted in Dulux Eau de Nil which was absolutely lovely - I looked on Dulux site and cant' seem to see it. It was a Heritage colour many moons ago... But this site seems to have it!
