About to redecorate dd's room, she turns three in April, and am getting stuck/overwhelmed by Pinterest so would love to see how other people have done theirs please! Despite my best efforts, she loves pink and I was thinking aqua/green would be a good contrast. She also loves animals. I did wonder about plain walls and using accessories for colour - but if you can't have fun wallpaper when you're three, when can you?!

So, what do your kids' bedrooms look like?

We are about to move but keeping the same decor in new house, dd's room is perfectly taupe from dulux, with white furniture. She has similar colour curtains but they have pale pink, blue and greenjoy splodges on ( I am terrible at describing things!)

I painted her some wooden letters of her name when she was very young and they are bright pink, which adds a bit of colour but it's to standout ish plus she loves them.

Other things we've put in were a couple of posters that she liked, just in black frames. Sounds like a mismatch of colours but looks nice!

Sorry post doubled as I got an error message first time 😬

overmydeadbody · 28/02/2017 13:17

Rainforest I love your style. We also use picture rails as bookshelves, but my children are the wrong age and sex to be of use to the OP!!

My personal preference if using wallpaper is to use it on all the walls though, I think it looks more tasteful than feature walls.

TWOBANANAS · 28/02/2017 13:26

RAINFORESTSLOTH - I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE that bedroom!!!!

TheTantrumCometh · 28/02/2017 13:28

I love everyone's rooms. Both kids rooms need redecorating but I'm currently 27 weeks pregnant so we're waiting until baby is born. If baby is a girl they'll be staying in their current rooms. If baby is a boy DS will be moving into the bigger room for down the line when they share.

I'd avoid wallpaper, unless you're set on it, or have children who don't like to draw on walls Hmm. Much easier to do touch ups on painted walls.

Not mine but I love the idea of a Montessori style one.livingmontessorinow.com/how-to-prepare-a-montessori-baby-room-at-home/ Being her my dds Montessori school is so calming

SleepFreeZone · 28/02/2017 13:36

My son never drew on his walls but he did like to paint it with bogeys and those things stick like cement 😩 If I had wallpapered I would have cried.

Loving all these pictures. Dd x2 share a room. Currently they have two walls painted pink and the other walls left white with white furniture and a grey carpet. Dd currently has an IKEA toddler bed but in a few months when dd2 is ready to move from her cot they will be getting white wooden bunk beds.

We did have wall decals, but dd1 who was 3 at the time peeled them all off and lost/destroyed them so we won't be getting anymore for a while.

suzyrut I want that bed for my dd me but dh says it's "impractical" :'(

Misty9 · 28/02/2017 19:28

I must admit chocolate I did look at that link and think 'how on earth would you change it?!' So I too am too practical Grin

rainforestsloth that is a beautiful bedroom - I LOVE the wardrobe. Alas, I am not remotely arty so rely on what I can buy. I want to do a similar picture wall for dd with her initial, framed artwork etc.

Loving the flamingos but sadly dd has no interest - scion do an amazing print here

For now I'm slogging away with taking out the (very solidly installed!) fitted wardrobes and it looks like the ceiling may need replacing too... Shock so I have a while to dream about decor yet!

struglling is that bed a day bed with a trundle underneath? Do you find it wide enough? I tried dd on one in Ikea but it was too high and seemed too narrow. We could do with the ability to have a double bed in that room but only have visitors overnight about 1-2 times a year.

This was DD's room just after we had finished decorating. It's never looked this clean and tidy since!

I meant to add, DD loves pink which I wanted to avoid so we went for aqua with purple / pink accents.

Ironwoman123 · 28/02/2017 21:43

This is my DDs nursery but I'm hoping it'll last a few years and I'll just update the bed/photos.

Just noticed, her shelf is empty - it now has photos and ornaments on it and there is a few more photos on the walls and things on the windowsill.

It has white wooden blinds and some paper lanterns round the window. She also now has fairy lights wound round side of day bed.

MortifiedinAsda · 06/03/2017 17:58

My sons share this room - they both love Fantastic Mr Fox ❤️.

You can get names in Disney style writing wall transfers which she has as well now. Only about £4 on eBay.
