A 'waiting for viewings and offers' support group?

Not quite ready for the 'in a chain' support group (please please don't let it be too long!), but we have just put our house up for sale and are waiting for viewings. Mostly cleaning and primping and procrastinating, with occasional adrenaline bursts when the phone rings.

Anyone else in the same position wanting to share the angst?

Oh how gutting bringme! The markets pretty much at a standstill right now, hopefully in the New Year you'll get some viewings. We've only had some because we've recently paved our driveway over so the house was remarketed.

Littlemiss they ask permission and we get a text confirming the appointment - apparently it was booked on Monday when we had about four phone calls for separate viewings so reckon they got confused!

Bringmewineandcake · 23/12/2016 12:32

We've got a viewing!! Coming 29th Dec....there will be Christmas crap everywhere Xmas Confused

littlemissM92 · 23/12/2016 12:43

Our viewer cancelled this morning I could cry

Lilmisskittykat · 23/12/2016 14:41

Little miss and bring me... both bad news stories Sad

Let's all hope for a positive 2017!

TheWanderingUterus · 23/12/2016 16:37

Hello to all the new people, nice to see some new faces! Sounds like a lot of you have encountered some total nobs, may they have itchy crevices eternally.

No news here, no viewings, no feedback from the one viewing we had.

We did go and do some drive bys on some houses we saw on RM. One of them saw us outside and came out to get us in for an impromptu viewing. Lovely house, perfect except for location which is OK, not great - and it's just a little over budget. The other house had a busy road at the front, a railway line at the back, a sewage pumping station directly behind the house - all of which nicely complemented the back garden full of rotting cars the neighbour was growing. Oh and it had subsidence.

Trying to keep patient ! X

Cathster · 23/12/2016 21:56

Littlemiss I think a lot of people are thinking they can fit house viewings in and then realising they're too busy this time of year - one of our no shows has rebooked for next Thursday (eek feeling like you bringme - where is all our Christmas crap going to go?!) so hopefully yours will rebook?

Did they give a reason for cancelling? It's so frustrating isn't it?!

Here's hoping it picks up quickly for us all in the new year!

littlemissM92 · 23/12/2016 23:20

That they couldn't afford it as didn't realise the stamp duty on a second home ! Grr research x

Bringmewineandcake · 24/12/2016 01:31

Oh no littlemiss! Flowers our 1st viewing was cancelled 45 mins before they were due. I'd cleaned like crazy, not easy at all with 2 little ones in the house!
For the post-Christmas viewing I'm going to have to be slightly less neurotic...clean loos, mirrors, stuff away where possible and hoovered. That's it!

Cathster · 24/12/2016 07:27

Ohhh fgs! How disappointing for you Flowers

We've had so many viewings now that we are past the point of spending hours cleaning - a quick tidy and making sure the bathroom and kitchen are wiped clean, that's all they get!

littlemissM92 · 27/12/2016 17:48

Cannot wait
For new year and EA back open and hopefully some
Viewings because I have seriously
Fallen in love with a house I am not going to look at it though incase it goes before we can get to it I have everything crossed! Any news with u lot? D

Lilmisskittykat · 27/12/2016 21:38

I'm hopeful for new year too! Some viewing would be nice we've not had one in ages

SantasSackAndJingleBalls · 28/12/2016 13:17

We will be putting our house on the market very soon & so I'm placemarking for now. Fingers crossed we get the viewings (we didn't last time it was up Sad)

TheWanderingUterus · 28/12/2016 14:04

Hello SantasSack, when will you be putting your house up? Fingers crossed for you when the time comes.

Just got a phone call from the estate agent and we have a viewing tomorrow morning! Another renter looking to buy in catchment (or the same one as before wanting a second viewing, the agent was not clear), mortgage agreed in principle. I'll be doing the viewing this time as no agents are available.

Good luck! Our EA is closed til 3rd so hoping he will have some answer phone msgs :) x

Cathster · 28/12/2016 22:14

Good luck santassack! Hope your viewing goes well tomorrow wandering, sounds promising that they are proceedable.

We also had two phone calls from the estate agent today - one to cancel the viewing tomorrow as apparently they've found somewhere else Sad and another to book in a viewing Friday morning.

Here's hoping we all get some good luck in our selling in the new year!

TheWanderingUterus · 29/12/2016 11:51

Viewing over, he seemed enthusiastic.

He didn't actually have children in the end, just liked living so close to town. He wanted the garage for his motorcycle, which coincidentally is what our neighbour uses the other half of our shared garage block for.

Now to wait and see what happens!

Have any of u viewed houses BEFORE having an offer ? D

TheWanderingUterus · 29/12/2016 16:09

We have viewed four or five littlemiss, but parked up and walked up to maybe twenty to check out the location/house. Mostly because we were told we would sell our house quickly, but also because it can take up to a week to get a viewing and some houses had convenient open houses.

It has given us a lot to talk about regarding potential compromises and what we actually want from a house. Also some definite options for when we actually sell. It has been very difficult to stop falling in love with one or two of them, thankfully none of them have been absolutely perfect.

OP posts:
Cathster · 29/12/2016 17:06

Fingers crossed wandering!

We've viewed two properties without having an offer. The first was actually the reason we went on the market, unfortunately it sold a week later. There were niggles about it though so although we were gutted to begin with, I'm glad we lost out on it.

The second is still on the market and we are in love with it (and have made them aware of our interest) but know it needs a lot of work to get it how we want it. I think if it gets sold we may put a pause on the selling unless something else amazing comes up. The reason we have ended up back on the market only 2 years after buying is that we were desperate and compromised too much with this house.

littlemissM92 · 29/12/2016 18:34

We really love the look of one and drove past yest to check location but my partner is being a grump probs rightly so and says no viewing til we have an offer he doesn't want to waste people's time but that's all people have done to us so far grr x

TheWanderingUterus · 30/12/2016 16:23

Another request for a viewing from yesterday's man, he wants to bring his grown children round to view it tomorrow.

Luckily the house is still fairly tidy Grin.

Ooh good luck with your viewings!

I'm going to speak to EA next week. We've had it up years ago and the markets not great but we're moving 2017!! It's going to happen!

Pumpkin16 · 30/12/2016 16:33

P.S changed back to my original name! (SantasSack)

littlemissM92 · 30/12/2016 16:40
