A 'waiting for viewings and offers' support group?

TheWanderingUterus · 17/11/2016 13:24

Not quite ready for the 'in a chain' support group (please please don't let it be too long!), but we have just put our house up for sale and are waiting for viewings. Mostly cleaning and primping and procrastinating, with occasional adrenaline bursts when the phone rings.

Anyone else in the same position wanting to share the angst?

The house we liked has sstc today...Sad

drspouse · 04/02/2017 20:30

Oh Becky that's hard.

Have been to buy lots of baskets for crp, and a couple of enormous bags for crp. At least we have somewhere to put stuff during photos even if some rooms are not realistically going to be that clear during viewings.

Upstairs living room moved around and we've decided that the spare room, which has a sofa bed, will be made up with a bed at least for photos, don't want to underestimate viewers' lack of imagination!

Blackfellpony · 05/02/2017 07:19

Sorry to hear that Becky, really hope something comes up. It's awful isn't it Sad

EA has taken some new photos of ours, hope it does the trick! We can't afford to reduce again so if it dosent we are stuck here...

Beckyb1 · 05/02/2017 08:02

Thanks. Although iv woken up this morning and don't feel upset so maybe it wasn't the one!
Sounds like you've been busy drs!

Equimum · 06/02/2017 06:54

Sorry Becky. I hope something even more lovely comes up very soon.

Blackfell, I hope the new photos rouse some interest.

That sounds like some impressive progress Dr. When do you hope to get the photos taken?

We had a disappointing weekend. On Saturday morning the EA confirmed that we had three second viewings. He then rang later to say that only one had actually turned up! On the positive side, they were apparently very interested and he's hopeful that they may make an offer, but we'll just have to wait and see. We do have another viewing this evening, but that's the last one booked in. Starting to feel a bit anxious now.

drspouse · 06/02/2017 09:57

Photos this Thursday. No child allowed to play in the house till then (oops DS has already played Lego).

DS helped me put on photos of the toys that go in each box, yesterday. DH put down the carpet (cheapo felt backed stuff) in the attic and put the sofa bed out. I've got 2 evenings at home Tues and Weds to hide stuff (where, though??!) but have just realised that we have a few more things that need to go in storage and basically no time except DD's nap time on Tues to do that. Aaargh.

trevortrevorslattery · 06/02/2017 10:21

Hello everyone and I hope viewings over the weekend turn into offers this week!

I would second the idea of using your car to store clutter away for viewings - we do this. We have 2 dogs and all their crap (beds, toys etc) goes in the back of our car when people are coming round. Also one of us takes them out for a walk during viewings so people can look round unhassled (is that even a word).

We've actually got loads of storage but day-to-day have loads of stuff out that we are too lazy to tidy up for ease of access. But we make certain that everything is put in cupboards etc for viewings - as a PP says, if there's clutter lying around then people may assume it's because there's no room to put it away.

Beckyb I am sure you will find another lovely home Flowers.

2 of our viewings sounded positive this weekend but I think half the time people just gush about your house out of politeness... I suppose it's the offer, or lack of, that says what they really think!

Good luck all for this week Grin

Notanotherpawpatrol · 06/02/2017 10:43

Good morning. Just spoken to our estate agent, confident they are now actually working for us, we've dropped the price and booked an open house for a week Saturday (but if anyone wants to see it before then they are welcome to) fx this one is more successful than the last!

drspouse · 06/02/2017 10:55

I could put stuff in the car to go to storage/tip/charity shop for photos if we haven't managed to get there yet - except to get a full load in we have to take out the car seats! So I may as well just move stuff round the house during photos.

We really don't have much storage in the house (hence the half full storage unit with a few more boxes due to go over there).

One tiny wardrobe in our bedroom, three small cupboards downstairs and two small cupboards in the attic. The attic is officially a bedroom but the two other bedrooms on the first floor have zero cupboard space.

There is loft space but the hatches are really awkward and long thin things (the bits to turn the toddler bed back into a cot bed) fit in but square things (larger storage boxes) often don't!

So we are OK for storage space for clutter (either it's gone, or it will squeeze into a cupboard, or I have a Basket of Crp), DH's medical/grab and go work stuff, my bedside books, bottles from the bathroom - no problem.
Other stuff - drying rack, mop and bucket, kitchen step, printer, toy boxes which are themselves tidy and pleasant to look at (identical wooden boxes) but large, those large plastic boxes for putting larger Cr
p in - no chance at all.

Lilmisskittykat · 06/02/2017 11:23

The car is a great idea.. I often just use my shed.. I decluttered it ages ago and stuff (gym bag, washing basket, dog stuff etc) just gets thrown in their for a viewing.

drspouse · 06/02/2017 11:33

We do have a shed but it's full of bikes! I've slightly misrepresented the cupboard space - I forgot our landing cupboard - it is also full but fortunately is helping in that it's full of gym bags, spare nappies, spare towels, spare loo rolls etc. So no need to hide those.

trevortrevorslattery · 06/02/2017 15:24

Ooh! We've had a 2nd viewing this afternoon (first time anyone's been back!).
They seemed really keen last week but hadn't put their house on the market. Apparently they put it up for sale on Fri and accepted an offer on Sat so are now proceedable - keep everything crossed please xxx

Envy at them selling their house in 1 day though!

drspouse · 06/02/2017 16:58

Wow that is amazing!

trevortrevorslattery · 07/02/2017 10:33

Oh my goodness! they have made an offer and we got them up to the asking price after hardly any negotiation!!!

Wheeeee. So it is possible - hope it all goes through ok and hope our luck rubs off on you all.

Flowers Flowers for those still waiting - you will get there x

Beckyb1 · 07/02/2017 11:35

Wow. Amazing news trevor!! Our viewer on Saturday loved the house but needs to sell hers to make an offer. Smile

littlemissM92 · 07/02/2017 11:46

Fab news Smile we are going to view 2 houses this weekend which look lovely but not in the place we want to be none come up there on market always by word f mouth so for my mum on the case as she lives there fingers crossed something comes soon. The valuation is being done on ours next wed

Notanotherpawpatrol · 07/02/2017 12:59

We have some ftb coming to view!! Aparantly they are really keen. Crossing my fingers firmly for Friday!!

Lilmisskittykat · 07/02/2017 13:26

Well despite a flurry of viewings - 6 last week which has been unheard of so far... nothing

It's such a pain all the cleaning and being on call for nothing to fruit.. I keep getting positive feedback on the house so not really sure why it's not clicking into place ...

drspouse · 07/02/2017 13:32

Good news trevor and good luck everyone else re viewings.
DH is away till late tomorrow night so all two person tidying before photos will just have to be declared over. Final few clutter magnets getting done tonight and tomorrow. Please go to sleep early, DCs.
Have done one more charity shop run but anything for storage will go in the car.

I can kind of understand those who put dog stuff away for viewings but just like I think it's a bit, er, unusual not to own a toaster I have to say if I was viewing a house and things like microwave, wash basket weren't anywhere (not even in a cupboard) it might make me think "is this house so small a wash basket makes it look over full?"

But no racks of washing out, don't worry.

Lilmisskittykat · 07/02/2017 14:11

I have a washing basket in each bedroom so it's not that my house is so small you can't fit it in but, I'm guessing it's excessive Confused I have my decent one out on the landing stupid fabric pop up ones... into the shed they go!!

The show homes I go in don't have washing baskets in each room full of that weeks washing so I figure if it works for them can't hurt Smile

drspouse · 07/02/2017 14:30

We have one for us and one for the kids, both naice baskets. Then a plastic one for wet washing. But our house is a Victorian family home, not a show house!

Lilmisskittykat · 07/02/2017 14:31

Fair enough.. Smile

trevortrevorslattery · 07/02/2017 15:38

Thanks all!

Redglitter · 07/02/2017 17:35

Just put my ever offer in on a house. 2 more viewings tonight - hope they hate it - but I have a feeling it'll go to a closing date.

Fingers crossed it doesn't

littlemissM92 · 07/02/2017 18:35
