If you had a "spare" room that you could do anything with, what would it be?

I need some inspiration.
My house is slightly different, cellars were converted into kitchen, dining room, and living room so we spend all of our time down there.
On the entrance level of the house, there is another living room that we never use , a small room with toilet & shower, and the "non" room.
It's empty, I have no idea what to do with it, it's a large-ish room
I need some ideas!!

Craft room with all my cake stuff neatly arranged and stored in a giant craft cupboard.

Table for cake decorating, chair, radio,

Shelves with all my cake boxes and boards

Ooh I'd love that

Who lives in your house and if children, what ages are they? What are your family's interests?

WeeMadArthur · 15/10/2016 17:22

Steam room? Totally impractical but I would love one and spend all winter in it

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 15/10/2016 17:23

We have a spare bedroom (downstairs as we have a bungalow) which we converted into a home gym which I really should start using again

Library! With a double bed settee.

I would have a minimal relaxing room with everything hidden away. I would use the room for yoga and chilling out. It would have no children stuff in it and I don't even think I'd let me husband in. Plants, calming decoration with wooden floors possibly a mirror for yoga and a hidden tv which I could watch Online yoga classes and guided meditation. It would be immaculately clean and calming and also soundproofed so I couldn't hear the noise from the rest of the house Grin

Library/study, just for me.

TotalPerspectiveVortex · 15/10/2016 17:29

Craft rooom/library. Big comfy squishy chairs, bookshelves on all the walls full of books, yarn & fabric, sewing table & manequin. Cozy & crafty!

Loyly · 15/10/2016 17:31

Traditional sauna for sure!

Daffodils8 · 15/10/2016 17:36

Another vote for library!

tickleyourpickle · 15/10/2016 17:37

I do have children, age 3 and 6. They have their own rooms upstairs and a play room already.
I use the living room in the entrance level as my relaxing space to go and read a book not that that ever happens

I like the idea of a craft room, I used to do a lot of crafts and sewing but with two young children i don't really have time to do it anymore, but will store that idea for when they are less demanding Grin

Office/library - would love to work from home more but don't have the right set up currently.
For you - spare bedroom? With bathroom & living room it's like a mini flat

tickleyourpickle · 15/10/2016 17:38

Actually I'm loving the idea of a library, there a sealed up fireplace with floor to ceiling cupboards either side, I could take the cupboards out and replace with shelves.

Muddling, I don't think it would get used, nobody ever stays over at our house all our family are quite close by.

I have a craft/sewing room, it's a tip brilliant! Being able to leave the sewing machine set up all the time really makes me use it more. I'm intending to have a few comfy chairs by the fire too for knitting. Smile

JenLindleyShitMom · 15/10/2016 17:41

I have one and I'm torn between making it a gym and a craft room. or a spare bedroom.

Salmiak · 15/10/2016 17:46

We had a spare bedroom which was never really used (about once a month friends stay) but it's empty apart from that. We now have a projector set up there, and watch films together snuggled up in the bed, and also let the older dc (she's 6) play there with toys that she doesn't want her younger sibling destroying.

Linnet · 16/10/2016 01:09

If I had an extra room it would be an office/music room/craft room/spare room for in laws visiting.

DollyDuck · 16/10/2016 07:58

We have a spare room downstairs which has two desks - one with the computer and the other with my sewing stuff. It also has the ironing board constantly up (means it's much easier to just quickly iron something on your way out rather than the faf of setting it up everytime you need it) and all the children's toys are stored in there too. If it was just mine it would only have the sewing stuff, rather than everyone else's too Smile

Joinourclub · 16/10/2016 18:47

Activity room. I'd love proper space for the piano, my husbands decks, my sewing stuff and the kids arts and craft stuff. We could each have a wall of stuff!

Justwanttoweeinpeace · 16/10/2016 18:50

Wardrobe / dressing room. I'd have all my shoes and accessories visible. All my clothes so I didn't have to do the season change. A big mirror and a big sofa to sling things on.

No one would be allowed in it Grin

Spottyladybird · 16/10/2016 18:53

A music room/ library. A piano set up in there, shelves for music and instruments, gorgeous wooden music stand etc.
Then shelves for books on the other walls.

DadOfThreeGirls123 · 16/10/2016 19:57

A study; a place for my kids to have quiet time to do their home work and a place to store my many boardgames properly (If you know what just happened in Essen, Germany, you know what boardgames I play!).

museumum · 16/10/2016 20:01

A treadmill and a yoga mat. No question.

LineyReborn · 16/10/2016 20:03

Beautiful guest room.
