Clean, but lacking character.

MairzyDoats · 24/01/2016 08:55

It's a bit bland but could be a nice light and bright family home... I can't work out why you have to go through the living room to access the kitchen though. A couple of the bedrooms look a bit cramped. How much is it going for?

Snoopadoop · 24/01/2016 08:57

It's boring, but I think it has tonnes of potential. You want to buy it OP?

SmellTheGlove · 24/01/2016 09:13

Sorry I'm not keen. But I know nothing about the area and it's not my style so I'm not the right person to answer! It's a good size though, I also think the upstairs looks a bit crowded. I'd also see if I could knock the kitchen and dining room into one. How much is it?!

darkbrown · 24/01/2016 09:18

It sold for £195K, 20 minutes into the city centre.

Nope. Dull and bland. Would struggle to make that look at all homely.

ftm123 · 24/01/2016 09:22

After the "if you could buy any house" thread my standards of property porn have been set very high. This I am afraid is very very soft property porn. Definitely pre watershed material.

As a realistic house, I think it has layout issues as pointed out above, so would suspect something better could be got for the price range - as in my experience layout is not taken into consideration when setting prices, but can make a big difference to usability of the property.

vestandknickers · 24/01/2016 09:22

Nice family house, but looks as if it's been done up by a developer which woul always put me off.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 24/01/2016 09:23

I like it but I guess due to lack of character it's more of a head house rather than a heart house as Kirsty would say.

wowfudge · 24/01/2016 09:23

Looks like a lot of house for the money, but the downstairs layout is not good as you have to traipse through two other rooms to get to the kitchen.

NattyGolfJerkin · 24/01/2016 09:28

I think if you gutted it and went with a full on mid century aesthetic it could look really great. There's plenty of light and it looks in good structural condition and in a tidy, well looked after area.

RatOnnaStick · 24/01/2016 09:28

I like it a lot. It ticks a lot of practicality boxes for me - not old so less likely to have maintenance issues, spacious, enough bedrooms of a reasonable size. Garden's a bit small. I agree some judicious reordering of walls and rooms could be done but for the price it seems a lot of house for the money (coming from someone living in the southeast).

RatOnnaStick · 24/01/2016 09:32

It looks like you could knock through that closet at the end of the hall if you wanted direct access to the kitchen then knock the wall out between the kitchen and diner and have one large sunny room across the back.

MangosteenSoda · 24/01/2016 09:33

The rooms look spacious, so it has potential. Would want to do some work on it. Don't like the outside, but if the location's great, that'd be a compromise I'd consider.

NattyGolfJerkin · 24/01/2016 09:34

On a practical level, it does have a few layout issues - strange chopped up hall with no access to kitchen and ensuite making master bed tiny. They could be sorted out though.

PrimalLass · 24/01/2016 09:35

I think I know something about that house but am not sure what you are getting at by posting it. Unless it is the wrong one, of course.

NattyGolfJerkin · 24/01/2016 09:35

That's what I'd do with the hall & kitchen, Rat

darkbrown · 24/01/2016 09:46

primall, no it isn't the house you think. Nearby though.

OP posts:
PrimalLass · 24/01/2016 09:55

Ah ok.

MairzyDoats · 24/01/2016 09:55

Oh will you put us out of our misery?! Did you buy it, sell it, or what? And what happened in the house that you and Primall both know, was someone murdered there?

PrimalLass · 24/01/2016 09:57

Someone was murdered nearby. I thought this was perhaps the house of the person who committed the crime. There was quite s focus on the street at the time (ex boss lived opposite).

MairzyDoats · 24/01/2016 09:58

Oof. I wasn't actually being serious, feel a bit guilty now! Blush

RatOnnaStick · 24/01/2016 09:59

Oh. l'm not sure that would put me off though unless the area itself is less than savoury. Is it?

darkbrown · 24/01/2016 10:00

It's a house not far from me. I own a similar property, but layout downstairs has been altered dramatically, including kitchen extension. Similar house has a gruesome history, teenage girl murdered and body mutilated.

OP posts:
SansaClegane · 24/01/2016 10:01

But it's not property porn really is it?! Confused
It's a house at which you wouldn't look twice.
