I like it, good size rooms, blank canvas.

darkbrown · 24/01/2016 10:02

Area is lovely. very quiet, mostly professional types, lots of woodland.

Similar house but not the same house? Not a problem.

There's nothing that size for that price local to me. Good or bad areas.

AgathaF · 24/01/2016 10:21

Probably ok with an altered layout. I really wish developers wouldn't chop a substatial amount off the master bedroom just to fit in an ensuite though.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 24/01/2016 10:44

Did it go for less money because of the history? I think estates agents have to disclose such events.

Lucidlady · 24/01/2016 10:52

Not sure what the point of your post is, OP? Are you saying it shouldn't have sold because a similar house had someone murdered in it?

Pipistrella · 24/01/2016 11:24

Confused here too.

In response to the original question, no, I think it's ugly and boring and the layout is insane - the hallway is claustrophobic with only one door into living space.

What's the murder thing got to do with it?

Pipistrella · 24/01/2016 11:25

This is really bizarre

WidowWadman · 24/01/2016 11:29

The "immaculate presentation" that brochure bangs on about is contradicted by the manky carpets.

ExasperatedAlmostAlways · 24/01/2016 11:30

I don't like the outside of it. Inside has good sized rooms but they need decorating as totally boring. I'd personally need to replace the kitchen and the floor in there and the bathroom too.

Would be a good rental property.

JemimaMuddleDuck · 24/01/2016 11:42

£195k?

I need to move north... Very similar house around the corner from us is £720k!!!

NattyGolfJerkin · 24/01/2016 12:54

I'm amazed at people saying this house looks like a "developer" job 😷Confused. What with the 80's kitchen, 90's fireplace, mismatched doors & carpets in need of a change. Empty, yes. Developed? I doubt it.

NattyGolfJerkin · 24/01/2016 12:55

Sorry for random 😷 Emoji there. Unintentional!

Bearbehind · 24/01/2016 13:02

Manky carpets Hmm??

I thought they looked new and the marks were just where the pile is going in a different direction. I certainly wouldn't describe them as manky.

I think it's a fugly house but am astounded at the price assuming 'town' is Edinburgh.

Really not sure about the OP's motive for posting this though?

Bearbehind · 24/01/2016 13:04

Sorry- ignore the carpet comments- was on my phone- looks way worse on my iPad Grin

NattyGolfJerkin · 24/01/2016 13:04

I wonder if OP is looking to sell her very similar house and wants to gauge opinion without posting her own home on the www.

PrimalLass · 24/01/2016 13:34

carpets in need of a change

They look brand new to me.

AnthonyBlanche · 24/01/2016 21:52

Is that 20 minutes into the city centre if you have a helicopter? It takes a lot more than 20 minutes to drive into town at commuting times.

PrimalLass · 24/01/2016 21:57

There is a new station at Eskbank. It is 20 mins to Waverley.

RaphaellaTheSpanishWaterDog · 24/01/2016 21:58

Fairly good sized rooms and obviously represents good vfm - although awkward layout would need changing - wouldn't appeal to me though as too bland/fugly/lacking in character......but I'm a period house girl Grin

ExConstance · 25/01/2016 11:54

Needs new kitchen and bathroom, all that horrible artex removed and new carpets. I know the description says they are new carpets but they are really horrible.

AnthonyBlanche · 25/01/2016 22:51

Oh, I didn't know that Primal!

Titsywoo · 25/01/2016 22:54

It's incredibly ugly. I wouldn't buy it but blimey it is cheap.

NewLife4Me · 26/01/2016 14:14

I don't like it either, but like older houses with character.
You don't spend your time looking at the outside of your house though, so if you like the layout and size of rooms it will be a good buy.
You'd get the same for your money here too, NW, so not cheap at all.

snowypenguin · 26/01/2016 17:37

I am not sure why you have mentioned what you have if it isn't the house relating to the murder. I am assuming the big case about 10 years ago.
