How much did you pay for your 3/4 bed house and what area isn't in?

Just a light hearted thread. Property interests me.

Buying a 3/4 bed house in Bristol. It's lovely. Clean. Very clean. Lovely garden and space for 2 cars on the drive. We got it for a steal of 150,000 although needs some updating.

Just wondering what everyone else paid in different parts of the country! What area and what condition?

Lingua - have a look in deepest darkest East London. We've got a budget of about £450k and are looking at Walthamstow / Leytonstone. Going to have to be prepared to live in a potentially slightly rougher area than we are now (Peckham).

4 bed detached, small garden, south manchester - paid ?280k 4 years ago, needed work, spent about ?25k. Valued at ?350k. I reckon would sell around ?340k.

Bristol, 3-Bed with vast garden for £325k earlier this year. About 4miles from city centre, so not in an area that is likely to shoot up like other parts. But not looking to move again soon and the garden was the most important bit ( and the house needs a fair bit of work, which will take years to save for).

3 bed semi-detached in a good part of East belfast cost us ?195k in November. The area is really popular at the minute, and there isn't much stock of decent sized-houses.

Needs a fair bit of work, but has the potential for extension and an amazing garden for the area.

WitchofScots · 11/08/2015 13:09

3 bed semi in the south west, 375k, no work needed as newly refurbished. sea views. If I say where it is then I'll be outed so south west will have to do.

120K, Clapham

Sorry

4 bed detached new build near Edinburgh, just under £340k.

We've been here nearly 3 months and I love love love it.

4 bed detached Fylde coast
We paid 170k 5 years ago. It needed a lot doing and we are halfway through all the work

4 bed semi, big garage but small gardens. South sheffield. 150k. Needs a bit of modernising but nothing too drastic doing to it.

Hygellig · 11/08/2015 13:27

We bought a four-bed detached house with quite a big garden in the Midlands for £410k in 2010. It's in the catchment area of a very popular primary and secondary which puts the prices up. We had some work done last year to convert the garage to a utility room and to rebuild what the previous owners called a garden room as that was falling apart.

BreeVDKamp · 11/08/2015 13:30

£350k, Surrey. 10k less than we sold our 2 bed flat for in London.

BreeVDKamp · 11/08/2015 13:30

(that move was 3 weeks ago)

GothicRainbow · 11/08/2015 13:38

We're looking at the market at the moment and in our area (Surrey/hampshire border) to get a good sized, decent condition 3 bed semi it's around £300-315k. You can get a terrace or something that needs work for around £250-280k

IpsyUpsyDaisyDo · 11/08/2015 13:49

3 bed Edwardian end of terrace in west London (zone 3), £450k when we bought it 3 years ago, and has scope for extending up and out. Now worth £600k+, thank you Crossrail!

swillows · 11/08/2015 14:16

3 bed Edwardian terrace in south Bristol with garden and huge garage via a back access lane - 305k this time last year.

regretsihaveafew · 11/08/2015 15:21

North Somerset 3 bed bungalow with kitchen extension and double garage bought 4 years ago for 150k, which was a bargain. Done some work on it and now worth 190k-ish.

babydad · 11/08/2015 18:26

SE London (Zone £), 5 bed terrace for £480k in April 2015. It sounds a lot compared to others, but we had it valued by a different estate agent straight after purchasing who said it was easily £550k.
Spent £25k already making it liveable for us, and its now only 4 beds.
Will be here for 10 years so looking for it as a investment for the next big move.

fireplacenice · 11/08/2015 20:07

midlands market town. 5 years ago 227k. 3 bed 1920s semi. think we overpaid by 7k as the next year a lot of semi detached on this and neighbouring cul de sac went around the 220-224k mark.

KrevlornswathoftheDeathwokClan · 11/08/2015 21:59

3 bed end terrace for less than 90k. We are about to turn it into a 4 bed by converting the cellar. We are in Sheffield.

KrevlornswathoftheDeathwokClan · 11/08/2015 22:01

And I bought two years ago. Its an Edwardian house and the cellar conversion is 15k.

I feel we got an excellent deal.

3 bed detached with potential for 4th bed, lovely garden, beautiful rural outlook, driveway with parking for 3 cars, quiet cul de sac, in catchment for excellent school, walking distance to shops, South West, £375k. Bought this year with inheritance, sale of 2bed terrace, and bigger mortgage. We love it and don't ever want to move Smile

Emochild · 13/08/2015 00:03

mandy214 · 13/08/2015 10:36

3 bed 1930s semi. Nice part of Cheshire / South Manchester.

Bit of a do-er upper (untouched for 40 years), paid £326k 5 years ago. Have spent about £10k so far.

Re-valued about 2 months ago - now £440k.
