Only Good Homes Magazine, but quite exciting! Still can't believe how well the building work went and how great all of our tradesmen were....Sorry cant really show off about this in real life, so posting here Smile

That is exciting. Have they taken photos yet?
Let us know which month so we can drool.
Love a bit of kitchen porn.

Marmitelover55 · 29/11/2014 09:31

Thank you eastwickwitch Smile We have had a photographer round but he needs to come back for a few more shots. I think it's going to be a spring issue.

Good for you!

I'm can't wait until our building work is over. It's all going pretty well, but it's still so disruptive!

....and we're getting through shed-loads of sugar and tea-bags.

Marmitelover55 · 29/11/2014 09:56

It will all be worth it Arya Smile Our builders liked rather too many choc hob nobs and magnum ice creams...

Oooo exciting. Just out of sheer noseyness do you get paid for it or get any vouchers etc? I've always wondered.

Apatite1 · 29/11/2014 12:02

Nice! Do you have a pic?

TeddyBee · 29/11/2014 20:38

Well jell. We've been idly considering writing in with pictures to see if they'd 'do' our house (basically total refurb, loft conversion, side and rear two storey extension). It would give me a kick up the arse to do those last little bits of painting. Did you write in or did someone suggest you?

Marmitelover55 · 30/11/2014 09:39

Thanks everyone! Here is a link to a couple of pics!

I don't think we will be getting paid as no one has mentioned it... It was the architect's idea to submit the photos to a journalist she knows. Thd journalist sent round a photographer who took some more pics (much fancier than these with the room a bit staged), and then they offered them to a few magazines.

The photographer was keen to feature other rooms in the house until he realised that they all need decorating...

It's gorgeous Envy.

Greencheese · 30/11/2014 10:01

Wow, that's amazing, I love the space and light. Beautiful, well done you!

TeddyBee · 30/11/2014 10:06

Wow. Ok. Maybe we won't write to them, ours is much less glossy and beautiful.

laurentperrier · 30/11/2014 10:07

It's gorgeous!

aftereight · 30/11/2014 10:09

Wow, it looks amazing! I love your office nook!

Lelivre · 30/11/2014 10:30

Looks great, what is on the wall behind the sofa please, is it a paper? I may pinch that idea Smile

Eastwickwitch · 30/11/2014 11:04

Wow, what an amazing space.
Where's that gorgeous sparkly light from I need it?

SqueezyCheeseWeasel · 30/11/2014 11:07

Very nice, marmite

Apatite1 · 30/11/2014 11:15

Beautiful you must be so pleased!

elvislives2012 · 30/11/2014 11:17

That's lovely. How much was it if u don't mind me asking? What a lovely space

ClaudiaNaughton · 30/11/2014 11:27

Love it! What kind of floor do you have? It has been beautifully thought out by the architect and looks amazing. Also love the office nook.

Hollyhocks7 · 30/11/2014 12:37

It's really lovely. I like the way you have a clearly defined kitchen 'cooking' area so it won't spread into living/ dining area. We're planning a side return extension next year, though I don't think ours will look as good as yours because there's a step down from the middle room to the kitchen. What are the dimensions of your kitchen/ dining space?

AryaUnderfoot · 30/11/2014 13:13

That's gorgeous!

GoodKingQuintless · 30/11/2014 13:18

Oh it is gorgeous. I love how they have livened up the white with turquoise, and blond wood.
The sofa is so nice. Where did you get it?

I take it there is a front room too?

Marmitelover55 · 30/11/2014 14:26

Wow thanks everyone Blush

The wall paper, which is on one of the study walls and one of the dining area walls is called Pintura Topaz and is from John lewis.

The sparkly light is called Cosmic and was from local electrical shop but I've also seen it online.

The sofa is a G Plan vintage 1967 and is also from John lewis.

The flood is Engineered Oak from a local fitter. Think it is UV lacquered.

Sorry cant remember dimensions off hand but will check (am on train home after Morrissey concert last night!)

Costs were roughly as follows:

Construction £50k (included demolition, new boiler, all plumbing, electrics, veluxes.

Kitchen £15k including fitting, granite, appliances, custom made splashback.

Flooring £3.5k

Bifold doors, single door and 3 windows in powder coated slate grey aluminium including integral blinds £7.5k

Furnishings about £8k

Alcove units £2.2k

Decorating £2k

Architect and other fees £4k

So in total about £95k Shock

Am trying not to think about that bit...
