What colour shall I paint my front door?

No funds available for a nice new door (sob) so I've decided to paint it instead. Our house is 1900 Edwardian(?) terrace, with soft cream painted brickwork. Door furniture is brass and the door itself is currently a navy blue.

Any ideas on what would look nice on this type of house? I like a bit of colour so dont really want grey or black. Anything too pale will require more cleaning right?

Ooh different opinions . I honestly can't decide between them.

I did the front door of my last house in Fire Engine Red - I think it was called that. It was Crown and a proper red. It looked great and then the new owner painted it dark blue within weeks of moving in It's supposed to be the best colour if your selling a house
I also tried out one called Red Barn recently by Craig and Rose, I think. Very Scandinavian - it's lovely

Well thinking about it - our living room is a blue not dissimilar to cook's blue so it might end up looking a bit samey as you walk through the door.

We have 2 blue rooms in the house so maybe red would be a bit different? It is a big statement though.

So go for Orange instead - it's Blue's complimentary colour and heck, no one will notice it. ;)

I would love an orange front door but DH says no.

It's currently green and he doesn't like that either though.

There is a street in henley on Thames which has wonderfully painted front doors.
Yellow, fuschia, turquoise. They all fit so well together

I've just done ours sort of blood red. Looks ace. Did the garage door, also at the front, too.

Wow, orange! Hadnt thought of that. Although was planning on painting the hallway a shade peach...
