That's it really. Has anyone had one fitted. It's either that or magnet. Any opinions would be fab. Thanks!

Not really much of a response though, is it. "..more details.." every time.
Then.... nothing.

If anyone's interested, I didn't get a call today either. Gasps of shock!

Merry Christmas all.

Cleverkid1552 · 25/12/2014 22:57

Go to magnet they are all very professional designers who know what they are doing. All you will get from wrens is a hard sell.

thenest · 29/12/2014 11:37

Dear andyinnorwich

You may have provided your details internally but all we have to go on is Andrew based in Norwich and unfortunately that would be impossible to find on that information alone.

We are more than happy to assist however unless more details are supplied to us on social media we wont be able to locate your details. Thank you

Sherlockspal · 29/12/2014 12:56

Do you have so many Andrews in Norwich with the same issues that you are unable to match the customer with the complaint lodged in the Store?
If this is the case your Company is in dire straights!

Do try and be a bit more proactive, in fact you could try that approach across the whole business.

Dinosaurporn · 29/12/2014 14:18

Apparently when you call them to ask to speak to specific people they'll always be "in a meeting". Permanently.

thenest · 29/12/2014 15:39

Dear Sherlockspal

We have over a hundred customers in Norwich called Andrew and it has nothing to do with problems. It is simple logistics and due to Data Protection that the customer provides their order details.

Thank you

Phoenixfrights · 29/12/2014 21:34

Arf at someone saying "unless more details are supplied to us on social media we won't be able to investigate" then going on to cite Data Protection legislation!

Am researching kitchens at the moment and this thread has been...illuminating.

bubblyfish · 03/01/2015 19:30

hello

New to mumsnet but I came across this thread when googling wren kitchens. Here is our experience of them.

Had a design booking confirmed for 4pm today. Husband and I show up at 4pm sharp only to be told by Roody at their Hayes branch that he wouldn't be able to see us and asked if we could come back another day. (I thought that was the point of booking an appointment?!). Should've guessed something was wrong when he insisted we move away from other customers so he could talk to us.

Didn't even bother to call us so we wouldn't have to drive 35 mins for nothing.

Pretty shocking really, but it made our decision easier as we've completely written off Wren for life. Shame for them too since we planned to spend about £30,000 on kitchen and other furniture.

AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE and spread the word!

DeewithDun · 06/01/2015 17:50

I would not recommend WREN to anyone who is looking to have their kitchen ‘designed’ or fitted by this company; based on my own experience of course.
That said, if you do use this company, CAVEAT EMPTOR!

The company policy and contract you sign admonishes the company and any of its employees from any blame for any mistakes they make.
The salesmen / designers obviously know this ‘get-away-with-it’ clause that anything THEY oversell to you won’t be accepted for a refund.
Over 30 years of fitting kitchens, I have always placed my faith and trust in the designers and sent clients to companies to quantify the units and material needed to do the job. It is part of their price built into the sale. For me to do the design, I would have to charge for this service.
With WREN I have never had a designer get it so badly wrong in carrying out this task.
I had a large kitchen to fit and it was not cheap. But to be charged over £1000 for material which should not have been put in the order is shocking to say the least.
The Over-charge List:
Using decor-end panels as spacers between a wall and the units.
I only needed one tall unit and two wall unit decor-end panels as these would be the only ones that anyone would see; hence decor-end.
I had one large (£198.99) two base (@£99 each) and a wall panel (£84), all extra, added to the list. I cut down the extra kickboard (part of the list) and used this instead.
An extra length of cornice (£69)
An extra length of kickboard (£48.99)
An extra length of plastic strip (£5)
An extra 3m length of 40mm Oak WORKTOP (£354.99)
Queried at the time I was told it was short by 100mm and would need to buy another 3 meter worktop as they do not have anything shorter. I had a 400mm cutting AND a full length worktop spare!
Four extra worktop bolts (@£2.04). 9 bolts were included in the worktop price.
Five extra handles (@£8 each) I needed 33 and was sold 38.

I had read of others in this situation and the ‘lip-service’ replies from WREN, ‘Sorry you feel this way but you signed the contract, no refunds,’ I didn’t even bother to contact them. I was rather fortunate though, I had enough space for an additional ‘broom’ cupboard and utilised the over-subscribed material. As for the extra worktop – chopping boards for all next Christmas methinks.
I responded to the feedback email with a zero for the quality of the designer. Zero for the recommend WREN and nine for Quality of Product. It is good quality but some niggly things that bring it down a bit.
A few days later the Designer contacted me to query the feedback and was given the explanation. ‘It was not my intention to add all that extra stuff to the list,’ he said, ‘It is the computer programme that does it.’ No offer of a refund on the excess bits either!
So there you have it. It is the computer programme that has been badly put together, badly tested, and left running badly in situ to be blamed by the employees: NOT the company policy, nor the designer that has to make a commission that are responsible!

So, if you have had your kitchen designed and fitted by WREN, and are happy with it, then you are lucky to be in ignorant bliss as to what extra you have paid. I’d be a very happy joiner walking away with all that ‘surplus.’ Brings a whole new meaning to ‘cleaning up’ after themselves!

If you are thinking about WREN for your next household project you have two options;

  1. Go elsewhere. 2. Take their drawings and go elsewhere and give them to another company to check. Like me, your measurements might be spot on but their quantifying certainly won’t be.
Roger50 · 06/01/2015 20:55

Had our kitchen fitted by Wrens. Contractors were absolutely useless. After continuous complaints on their fitting skills, we told them they were never coming into our house again. I finished the kitchen myself , even found food debris behind one of my plinths!, nice touch that eh. We have complained to Wren, been offered a paltry £250 compensation, take it or leave it. Still haven't signed kitchen off. Total nightmare from start to this stage. Anyone thinking of using this company get your heads tested and go somewhere else. They use contractors to fit, Rush around and leave ASAP. I know two other people who have had more trouble than us, so you have been warned, hope this saves you from the crap we have had to put up with. This was supplied from the Bedford branch ok

Munger · 10/01/2015 20:43

A further update on our Linda Barker Wren Kitchen experience;

Previously;
2 broken pan-drawers &
3 front panels with paint defects requiring replacement.

Wren came a fitted new front panels. But, 2 weeks later the paint is already starting to chip & peal.......

They cannot make kitchens.. DO NOT buy from Wren and if you have had a bad experience make you put a review on Trustpilot. It is the only way I have found to usefully communicate with them..

Wren kitchens. Yes? No? Good? Bad?
Maggox16 · 13/01/2015 23:06

Hi Selks. I live in Yorkshire and are looking for a kitchen planner/ fitter. Could you give details on the one you used. Thank you.

Emberdaisy1 · 14/01/2015 16:08

I bought a kitchen from Wren, the Mali Wenge; over 14 months ago. 3 months after having the kitchen, problems started to arise with the doors bowing and bubbling. They came and replaced them, not only once, but 3 times. Things have just gone from bad to worse with these units. I've been fighting this with trading standards as well as wren, at this present time they've put me in a corner telling me I either take an all cream kitchen or I take a white kitchen and I have to pay for new splash backs and a new sink (white) along with, yet again fitters fees. Which would cost me an additional £1,700 for these new splash backs, sink and fitters fees. They are not willing to back down in compensation so I can buy the doors from some different company, including the splash backs etc. Basically if I don't take either of the options I am going to be left with a kitchen that is a total copout, that is only going to get worse over the years.

I have read your comment about Wren, I have discovered that you worked for wren in the past and I'm just enquiring for advice, help or any other path I can take to resolve this ongoing problem as I have paid £8,000 for the Mali Wenge kitchen but they want me to take the offer of an all cream kitchen, which in fact is much cheaper than the one I currently have.

I would really appreciate it and be very grateful if you could give me some sort of help/advice on the next step to take.

andyinnorwich · 14/01/2015 20:33

ROFL!

andyinnorwich · 14/01/2015 20:39

Oops. That was actually supposed to be a response to Sherlockspal's message back on 29th.

Absolutely!
What a load of rubbish.

I made dozens of calls to their customer (victim) support lines and left my FULL NAME and PHONE NUMBER every time.

Taken that I have stated my name and city in this thread also, does it really take that much working out who I am?

I DO NOT BELIEVE it is impossible to find me.
Why don't you tell us how many complaints you had from someone named Andrew or Andy Norwich in December 2014.

I bet it's somewhere between 0 and 2.

Oh... and by the way... still no phone call!

"Arf at someone saying 'unless more details are supplied to us on social media we won't be able to investigate' then going on to cite Data Protection legislation!"

Not just me, then?
What rubbish!

Quite apart from MY data protection in an open forum... How exactly does data protection apply to a company looking through it's own records for a name?

If there was any intention of resolving my problem then I would have been called back by now.

I can only assume that the 'meetings' that all the managers were in have been going on now for nearly a month!

That's got to be some sort of record.

ihatethecold · 14/01/2015 22:22

Go Andy!

Sherlockspal · 14/01/2015 23:09

andyinnorwich I bet they would find you PDQ if you owed them money

Sherlockspal · 15/01/2015 10:38

Yehhh, good result last night I put the grief dump on "Trustpilot" and to my amazement I had a reply from Wren already. It seems they worry about that particular site. Give it a try!

thenest · 15/01/2015 13:56

Dear DeewithDun

We are sorry to hear of you experience and would like to see what happened regarding the overstock. If you could supply some order details we will take a look.

Kind Regards

thenest · 15/01/2015 14:18

Dear Munger

We are sorry to see that the paint quality is not correct. Can you please forward your order details and we can speak with our quality control team about this and see what appears to be going wrong in this process to get this resolved for you.

Thank you

Dinosaurporn · 15/01/2015 14:59

Oi Thenest you forgot Andy. He lives in Norwich, which is a town in England, if you are having difficulty locating him!

ihatethecold · 15/01/2015 15:44

Poor Andy. Sad
Destined to be forgotten about.

DeewithDun · 15/01/2015 16:55
