need some advice please, been gazundered two days before exchange by ftbuyers. They dropped their offer by 17k this morning stating the reason that it's going to cost them more than they thought to convert the office, outhouse and to do some remedial work like damp course, electrics and repointing.

The house is an absolute bargain already as we dropped the price by 40k to get a quick sale so we can get the house we want in time for my two children to start schools in september. We previously had tenants in there and they have now left, we have given notice on our tenancy for where we are living and are due to move in two weeks (completion date).

I immediately told the ea to stick it straight on the market and there has already been 3 viewings tonight, meanwhile, ea are trying to salvage the buyers offer by pointing out that there is electrical and damp certificates and a new damp course that was installed three months ago.

I am so, so devastated, don't know where we are going to live and god knows what to do about the kids school!!

fuckity fuck fuck

rant over! :(

Oh!
Am so pleased for you!
What utter utter bastards though.
I hope you will now not clean anything in the house at all? In fact if you could leave piles of random junk around that would be good too :)
Good luck in your new home x

BerthaTheBogBurglar · 29/08/2012 16:21

Yay!

And you have the joy of knowing you don't have to bother cleaning when you move out Grin

Yay! Time to come out of lurking mode & celebrate with you.

ThisWeekonFancyPuffin · 29/08/2012 16:36

Make sure it is dark when they get the keys...

Take all the lightblubs Grin

mistlethrush · 29/08/2012 16:36

Our last owners took the light fittings from the dining room (agreed) but put up a single spot light at each point (not agreed!) and left the wall lights' wires sticking out of the wall....

People in the house before that removed all the (many) together with the picture hook and left wonderful rings around them all - I had to decorate the dining room before any of the furniture was moved in properly.

Loosen all the screws in all of the fittings for the kitchen just before you leave?

SoupDragon · 29/08/2012 16:39

Is there some way you can leave stuff that looks like mouse droppings together with smething nibbled around the kitchen?

you have coped with this all so well!
Fair play to you, leave with dignity and show the arseholes what real class is!
(p.s., well done)

SoupDragon · 29/08/2012 16:49

Where is the fun in dignity??

Blackduck · 29/08/2012 16:53

Plim, mega congrats... Grin
We moved yesterday - I am on my way home to put up beds and do the kitchen....

teacherwith2kids · 29/08/2012 16:53

Luckily, I went back to clean our old house after we moved out but the day before the new owners move in.

In the intervening couple of days, a quite large bird had

  • Fallen down the chimney
  • Flown around everywhere in a panic, leaving bird droppings everywhere in its wake
  • Died a sad death in the fireplace.

As it is quite the most revolting thing I have EVER had to deal with on the cleaning front (I rang my muym just to get moral support before attempting it), I am wondering whether there is any way to engineer such a thing???

wheredidiputit · 29/08/2012 16:53

When we move in this house, the previous owner took all the curtain poles.

I can't see why she needed to when she moved from a 4 bedroom house into a 1 bedroom flat.

FairPhyllis · 29/08/2012 16:53

There are many many threads with good ideas horror stories about things people have found on moving in to a new house.

Not leaving any instruction books for the appliances is always a good one.

RandomMess · 29/08/2012 16:57

Thank F* they exchanged so schools are sorted but on earth have they been playing at!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy your glass of wine.

prettybird · 29/08/2012 17:07

Remember to save the empty bottle after you have had your well deserved glass of (hopefully very good!) Wine and leave it with a note saying that you were going to leave them a nice bottle to welcome them in to the house but given the stress that they put you through, you had to drink it Grin

nickelcognito · 29/08/2012 17:14

blimey!
i never thought it would happen!

when do you complete?

SoupDragon · 29/08/2012 17:17

Go with Prettybire's suggestion! In fact, I would by a nice bottle of fizz and leave the empty bottle with a note saying "we were going to leave you this as a gift"
