And all that black weatherboarding looks very forbidding. Grimmo. Imagine that on a wet day in February. Yikes.

TunipTheVegemal · 20/01/2012 20:04

another poster from previous threads here.

second house:
That's one helluva garden and you would have a nice time doing up the downstairs to make it as nice as your current house.

If it gives you what you need in terms of accommodation, fine, it's ok. But it is not a stunner like the one you're selling.

rockdoctor · 20/01/2012 20:05

Honestly? No, don't like the barn conversion for all the reasons listed above. Have looked at a few barn conversions in my time and I think they are tricky to get right. You really need to work with the light and the space and that one doesn't seem to do either. All the ceilings look quite low so I'm not sure how they've used the original barn structure or if they have just worked around it to create a fairly standard floorplan. Even the big "barn" window is recessed so not making the most of the light.

The second one? Yes, much more my cup of tea although I didn't look in detail. Far more homely and doesn't look quite so boxed in.

Auntiestablishment · 20/01/2012 20:07

Second one - much nicer house, though the Essex marshes are one of the few places in the country I'd really hate to live again. Feel like you've fallen off the edge of the world.

IslaValargeone · 20/01/2012 20:07

Although the kitchen/dining area looks quite large as a whole, the actual kitchen itself looks small, with very little storage and cupboard space. I am however a bit of a Lakeland porn queen so need lots of storage. If you don't cook it's probably fine.

MadameCastafiore · 20/01/2012 20:07

Supposed to be going to look at frist one tomorrow - DH says second one too far away and he wouldn;t be able to get to work in the snow!

HOW MUCH DOES IT SNOW EACH BLOODY YEAR!!

I think I love them both, but prefer the first. I also think you get a lot more for your money in Braintree than round my way Envy

peggyblackett · 20/01/2012 20:08

I prefer your current house to both of those MC.

The second is better IMO, but a lot of the decor is too fussy for my liking i.e. kitchen, so would want to be able to update it over time.

FriskyBivalves · 20/01/2012 20:09

Oh sorry we're moving swiftly on...can't keep up with this high-paced property porn.

Oh the second one is luffffly. Homely but sleek in important places like bathrooms. Original features etc. They do seem frightfully pleased with their conservatory which is indeed v nicely done. Gorgeous garden. Haven't looked at no of bedrooms - is it about the same size and as good an area??

FriskyBivalves · 20/01/2012 20:11

Ah. Marshes. They sound scary.

OrmIrian · 20/01/2012 20:11

Second one.

maddiemostmerry · 20/01/2012 20:12

I prefer the first, second one seems very cluttered and twee downstairs. Think second would sell better though.

MadameCastafiore · 20/01/2012 20:15

Second one would mean new school for both DCs!

First one I already don't like!

Cluttered and twee is more homely though.

What would inspire anyone to add a roof to their fireplace (picture 4, second house). "the fireplace is nice, but it's missing something. I know, we'll build it a roof".

miserablemum · 20/01/2012 20:15

Agree with previous poster. I love your current home! Not that that is any use to you....

oohermrs · 20/01/2012 20:16

I prefer the second one. Looks more homely and has more character Also not overlooked.

MadameCastafiore · 20/01/2012 20:16

Fireplace rook would have to go!

Beautiful house, I am not sure about the area in equation to the price, Braintree, Stisted=Could not justify spending that amount in that area, sorry.

bibbitybobbityhat · 20/01/2012 20:23

Sorry, I think it is ugly. Especially the rear elevation.

loopydoo · 20/01/2012 20:26

Much more prefer the second.
I couldn't get over staring at the weird headboard in main bed in the first.

I think it overdominates the space.

The second house looks like it flows better and purely from the pictures online, it looks way more homely (to me).

MadameCastafiore · 20/01/2012 20:28

current house bran.

not sold yet though!

ThatVikRinA22 · 20/01/2012 20:29

love the second house.

Auntiestablishment · 20/01/2012 20:31

Your current one is far nicer than either! Do you have to sell?
