hmmm...i'm thinking...that i'd like to be able to afford it!

bebumba · 20/01/2012 19:23

It's beautiful and if you want to buy it for me I accept. :)

Lcy · 20/01/2012 19:25

Beautiful and on a massive plot. I assume nothing can be built behind it?

miserablemum · 20/01/2012 19:27

Fabulous. Why do you need an opinion?

What are your concerns?

ouryve · 20/01/2012 19:27

I'll have 2 please.

Then again, the commute for DH might be a bit long.

Gay40 · 20/01/2012 19:28

I don't like new houses, so I wouldn't go view it. Looks spacious and pleasant enough, though.

Slanket · 20/01/2012 19:28

tis nice, dont know much about essex though.

MadameCastafiore · 20/01/2012 19:29

Sounds silly but I was worried about how wide bed is in master bedroom - looks like can only go against that wall and that wall doesn't look that wide!

And there is no proper shower in the ensuite! But I suppose that can be remedied.

Lovely if you've got the money and like the area. I'd like to have that view over the back.

LOL at "dating from the late 20th century"

for me this is property porn. its worth about 5 times what my house is! i think its beautiful, in my dreams i have a big house, in reality i would settle for a utility room....

pictish · 20/01/2012 19:34

Fab - but very overpriced.

It looks like restaurant from the outside, and it's a bit uninspiring inside.

Do not get me wrong - I would give my eye teeth to live in a house like that.

If I could afford a house that cost as much as that though....I would buy something else. Probably. Boring views as well.

fossil97 · 20/01/2012 19:38

I think it looks light on storage. On the agent's particulars is a floor plan. The garage looks like a double but is only a single as the utility room is partitioned out of it. There won't be much loft space with all those roof windows. If it was us we'd be building in cupboards everywhere. Is it too big and "statementy" to be a family home?

noonar · 20/01/2012 19:41

good point re the windows.

TheBolter · 20/01/2012 19:44

Nice but far too clinical-looking for my taste.

MerylStrop · 20/01/2012 19:45

I think it's a bit characterless inside and that there's no chance of adding any value to it (should that be an issue)

almondfinger · 20/01/2012 19:48

A little soul less.

You'd have to plant a bit tree to sort out the overlooking house's window.

It's all a bit too clinical

member · 20/01/2012 19:50

Nice house - three things I'd want to check

  1. The status of the farmland and the likelihood of the farmer selling the space to a developer & whether the local council would be likely to approve plans to build on it.
  1. The soundness of the weatherboarding, how often would it have to be treated (looks a big job, could be expensive/time consuming) & whether the render is a modern one like k-render that doesn't require repainting
  1. Suspect that the photos are from summer - has it been on the market since then? If so, why??

They've done a good job with the photo - makes it look more isolated than it actually is!

Cinquefoil · 20/01/2012 19:55

Honest answers? I think it looks a bit motel - like.

Do you know the area? What do you want, from a home?

I can see how it could be a dream home, but my honest opinion is that it reminds me of motels and dreary Sundays.

MadameCastafiore · 20/01/2012 19:58

Blimey now I have lots of other issues to worry about regarding it.

What about this one?

I think your current house (previous lurker Grin - assuming im remembering the right thread?) has buckets more charm and character. Lovely garden but the house does look a bit like a Harvester. I dont like the windows You did say to be honest...

MadameCastafiore · 20/01/2012 20:02

OK - I get your points - what about the second one?

OP posts:
Auntiestablishment · 20/01/2012 20:03

Not my cup of tea - a downstairs bedroom, the inside is not to my taste (characterless though expensively done out) and I agree about the lack of proper windows upstairs.

Are you buying or selling?
