My friend signed up about a week ago and got his first lot of stamps yesterday!

Soupdragon - I am a nurse, do long-day shifts, can't guarantee I'll get a break, let alone at a designated time. Ho hum.

Yurtgirl · 06/09/2008 21:32

Boo hiss - apparently my area is full of willilng people! So I wont even get some free stamps

weepootle · 07/09/2008 07:45

I just signed up- my 4th time of trying a different reference code, they must have quotas to fill for each of the references.

amidaiwish · 07/09/2008 07:48

have to post friday afternoon which is fine for me.

those of you working can't you post from work?

weepootle · 07/09/2008 07:48

Oh, and it finally worked with the WRVS code.

littleducks · 07/09/2008 07:50

I got the pack with items to post etc. but no free stamps for my use, is that right?

amidaiwish · 07/09/2008 08:15

have another look littleducks. it took me a while to find them. they were right at the bottom of the pack, 2 of those normal gold small packs with stamps in,

Grublin · 07/09/2008 08:34

Ooooh, just signed up for this.
Will see what happens.

BexieID · 08/09/2008 13:54

thanks for this, just signed up and got the "all full" message but read about trying different codes, worked after 5/6 codes

will see if I get a pack, email not through yet

dilbertina · 08/09/2008 15:24

I did this for 6 months or so...be warned it gets incredibly tedious. I got a huge envelope of stuff to post out each week (which all had to be prepared) at various times, then you had to log in to say when and where you posted it exactly, and that was before you started logging the stuff you got in. Is a fair bit of work. Only for those with lots of time and lots of postboxes and a post office nearby, and you do need to be pretty organised. If you can keep going till Christmas though you do get prezzies on top of usual stamps. (1st day cover, extra stamps, diary etc)

SaintGeorge · 08/09/2008 15:25

Hmmmm.

Just had an email from them saying my area is full, hence I didn't receive my welcome pack.

Strange that when I joined (mid August) the system didn't tell me the area was full and I received an email welcoming me and saying my pack was in the post.

Two of my friends, living in the same postcode area, joined a fortnight after me and have received their packs.

Suddenly, when I email to complain, my area is full so they have 'removed me from the panel'.

islandofsodor · 08/09/2008 15:26

Does anyoneknow if your postal ares is just the first two letters or the first 3 as I was hoping I could post things from work.

eg I live in ST7 but work in ST4. I don;t get home before last post goes.

kiddiz · 08/09/2008 16:14

I did this up until about 5 years ago. I used to get a £5 high street shopping voucher and 12 1st class stamps each month so it would appear they have got a little meaner since I stopped !!!!
It is quite time consuming and tedious. I actually sat and worked out how much time I was spending doing it and it really wasn't worth it. Certainly wouldn't do it again.
I have some doubts about their efficiency too as 5 years on I am still receiving test mail!!!
Maybe things have changed but I used to get a great envelope of stuff to post each week all of which had to be filled, stamped and addressed. It then had to be posted at specific post boxes at a specific time. I also got "told off" for not using a wide spread variety of post box/office locations which would have involved me using the car!
On top of that I would receive loads of items through the post which I had to record and return once a week.
I stiil received a load of stuff while I was on holiday which was all piled up behind the door. I had told them well in advance so no excuse.
I naively thought it would just involve posting a couple of items on the way to work. That is certainly how the person who recruited me over the phone made it sound. (they approached me not the other way round btw). For me that was certainly not the reality.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/09/2008 16:46

Not had my pack yet but had a small funny on friday 5th. I received 3 birthday cards - all sent via the same sorting office. One had the date stamp of the 4th. The other two were dated the 14th! Am wondering whether its a cunning ploy for the PO to improve their delivery times

roisin · 08/09/2008 19:54

dilbertina - Do you have to use a variety of letter boxes? I've just logged two - one regular one and one at a PO.

We are on the edge of our postcode area, so the closest ones I intended using are not in our postcode!
If it ends up being a pain, I will drop out swiftly.

dilbertina · 08/09/2008 20:02

Yeah, they like you to use a number of different post boxes....

It is a fair bit of work for not much reward TBH, unless of course it fits in to your normal routine easily...and you use a lot of stamps.......

Hulababy · 08/09/2008 20:12

Had my first pack, with my 18 stamps, and to envelopes to post - one this week, one next.

Need to remember to register postboxes now.

singyswife · 08/09/2008 20:19

Where do I find the promo cose? Thanks

singyswife · 08/09/2008 20:21

Code even

kiddiz · 08/09/2008 23:29

When i first did it it was just a couple of items a week but quickly increased. By the time I stopped I was getting over 10 a week all to be posted on different days at different times of day and different locations. I was also receiving stuff every day all which had to be logged and returned to them. All for less than £10 a month!!

dilbertina · 09/09/2008 10:28

Hulababy, just wait, they're breaking you in gently with one envelope a week! They're checking you can understand the instructions, then they whammy you. I was getting between 15 -20 envelopes each week to prepare and post at various locations...
Good luck!

WendyWeber · 09/09/2008 11:27

Hmmmm - I'm wondering whether to cut and run now after reading your posts! I was already struggling with the pages & pages of online instructions, plus I changed my password & then it wouldn't let me back in - it's all too complicated for an old woman

n5rje · 09/09/2008 13:57

I signed up a couple of weeks ago and got the first envelope with the free stamps and test letters then I read the recent comments and began to worry about what I'd let myself in for. Now I've just had an email saying that my area is full and they don't need me anymore but to keep the stamps so a result all round.

roisin · 09/09/2008 18:12

Me too n5rje. I'd got the stamps, pack, test letters etc. Then an email today to say I'm not needed.
