In the current situation, my car usage has dropped a fair amount. Went to my insurer for renewal in September , and the renewal was like £1000 (I was expecting like 600-700 which I could negotiate down from). Any way, By miles kept showing up, and I work in tech so was keen to try it out. They charged me a flat premium of about £300 and then the rest would be charged monthly (I put in a healthy estimate of annual miles just to see what I would roughly be spending and the total came to £650). I'm on month 2 now and since I'm not driving as much, I've been paying peanuts (£12-18 a month) and so my overall final cost will probably be closer to 500 than 650. Would recommend it, and also the tracker they give you doubles up as a car tracker (I bought an amazon one and the whole SIM card setting up thing was a little confusing, this was just a plug in and set up on the app tracker).
