When will VAT legal challenge outcome become known?

Does anyone know the answer to this?

(I’m to pay the first invoice with VAT on it and pondering what will happen if the legal case is successful).

For anyone wanting an update on the challenge here is most up to date info about 1 of the 3 challenges:

Remember each challenge has a different focus so this is just the SEN one brought by 3 single mums, it isn't the ISC one or the one being brought on religious grounds.

Legal challenge over private school VAT hike's devastating impact on special needs children

James Gardner, senior consultant solicitor at Sinclairs law, acting for the claimants, said the tax was 'ideological politics at its worst'

Another 2 schools to announce closure. That's 6 since 1st Jan.

This was entirely predictable

That’s all a 20% tax will do is close schools

It would do the same in any sector

So? And? READ the statements that the schools are releasing. These schools:businesses were not viable for years, many have other schools they own and pupils will move there, they are siting falling pupils numbers over years - People have perhaps woken up to what a scam some of these schools are.
If they were any good wouldn’t they have families queuing up to send their children there ?

Today's announcement that Judge refused governments request for separate permission stage, and agreed to an accelerated timeline

The irony that the government asked for more time, having rushed VAT through, mid-academic year, for parents!

Araminta1003 · 17/01/2025 20:03

I suppose the Government are going to have to hire some really expensive lawyers now to do late hours and instruct experts to gather last minute evidence: all at the taxpayers cost. All to prove proportionality.

And what happened to Dan Neidle’s previous assertions that it is a simple tax and Governments can tax as they like! It’s all rather confusing.

Its not irony, it is downright disgusting. To say THEY need more time yet that's exactly what they wouldn't allow parents!

Government has until 21st Feb to submit their reply and the case will be heard mid-April.
