Am away for a week now - so good luck to new starters, and hope the ones already into term hold up ok. Back next Sat, then school on Tuesday.

Will be needeing you all then, I think Bodens dd starts late like ours too.

Good luck with the week ahead everyone. Hope you have a great weekend together.

PinkTulips at being a little late. I am a shocker for that but have many resolutions. Like being early. ANd getting a proper brolly. ANd a decent bag to sling everything in so I haven't to juggle paintings, lunchbox, bag, baby, scarf..........

BIIIIIIG bag needed.

Bye

Acinonyx · 05/09/2009 09:04

Well dd's first afternoon went better than the settling in session. She pleaded with me not to go to school but was somewhat mollified by the choice of 2 new red dresses, hair slides and new tights. No tears this time. Seems to have sat drawing the entire time.

All went well until half way home and she needed a wee! Not a good spot - managed to get behind a tree in someone's garden - just as the lady came out with a toddler! She was very nice about it though.

So in future, I will carry the travel potty and come home a different way with more greenery. And I will ask the TA if she could encorage dd to go during the day

One afternoon down, just 14 more years to go.....

Aranea · 05/09/2009 18:10

Hooray Acinonyx, I'm glad to hear there were no tears. Sounds like a lucky choice of house for the wee.... a childfree home might not have been so understanding!

PinkTulips · 05/09/2009 23:03

dd broke her leg at a birthday party today

just back from hospital now, she definitely won't be at school monday as she has fracture clinic and i have no idea how much longer she'll be off for.

poor thing is more upset about missing school than about the leg!

Aranea · 05/09/2009 23:08

OMG PinkTulips that's awful! Rotten thing to happen anyway, but really bad timing!

How did she do it?

Aranea · 05/09/2009 23:10

Argh, just saw your thread.

PinkTulips · 05/09/2009 23:49

yeah, timing couldn't have been worse.

she's plonked on the couch munching cereal now... i'm still shaking!

EldonAve · 06/09/2009 07:50

OMG PinkTulips! I hope you both got some rest overnight

golgi · 06/09/2009 08:15

Sorry to hear that PinkTulips - hope fracture clinic goes OK and she's not in plaster for too long.

bodenaddict · 06/09/2009 10:30

Thanks all, she had a good night but is now sadly under the illusion that she can exist on ice cream as long as she has a broken leg as we gave her some as a treat when we got home last night!

I've calmed down a bit now but the reality of 4+ weeks of this is starting to sink in and i'm worn out just thinking of it

Acinonyx · 06/09/2009 12:11

Oh no - what bad luck! How did she break her leg?

PinkTulips · 06/09/2009 12:13

She was at a birthday party and she and her best friend were sat on a low wall. Said friend took it into her head to jump off and run away still holding dd's hand and she was pulled off the wall and twisted her leg in some way when she landed.

Acinonyx · 06/09/2009 14:12

That must have been quite a trauma for all of you! And 4+ weeks with a partly immobilised 4 yr-old - eek

PinkTulips · 06/09/2009 16:00

it's facinating, she's making more mess sat on the couch unable to move than she ever does when up and about

golgi · 06/09/2009 16:07

PT - it will be OK, I'm sure. Not sure about 4 weeks on ice cream though. My son broke his leg when he was 18 months falling off our bed, and he was just learning to walk. I had to carry him and cast everywhere (and was 8 months pregnant!). I expect they will be able to get her mobile-ish at the fracture clinic.

PinkTulips · 06/09/2009 17:06

we've agreed on one bowl of ice cream a day (for the calcium ) as long as she eats properly the rest of the day.

it was quite funny yesterday, she was handed a party bag as we were leaving and she spent from there til the hospital (an hour at home and an hour in the car) munching her way steadily through all the sweets and jellies... i think the suger high had as much to do with the good spirits as the neurofen did

paisleyleaf · 06/09/2009 20:00

Big day for DD tomorrow. I so hoped she'd get to sleep early....but I think she's got busy-brain, and is still a bit restless.
Went shopping together for packed lunch bits today, uniform hanging on the wardrobe - all ready to go.
My mum's just phoned to say she's more worried about how I'll be than DD, and I think that is the way of it - DD will probably have a great time, I'll probably..... (I don't know, clean the house like mad?)
It just does seem so much, 5 full days on the trot.

PinkTulips, OMG the timing couldn't have been worse eh? Your poor DD.

geogteach · 06/09/2009 20:18

DS2 starts tomorrow too, just afternoons for the first week We went to London for a treat on Friday which was lovely (just the 2 of us) but he has become a shocker since his brother and sister went back to school, with them he is loud and lairy and with anyone outside the immediate family he grunts. The teacher will have a fine old time with him either grunting in the corner or climbing the walls and shouting at the top of his voice!

EldonAve · 06/09/2009 20:24

Good luck to all those starting tomorrow

PinkTulips · 06/09/2009 20:26

Good luck everyone... hope all the lo's go in happy and come out happier

swissmiss · 06/09/2009 21:25

Good Luck to all those who start tomorrow, DS amongst them .

PT - sorry to hear about DD's accident. Hope you have a decent appointment at clinic tomorrow.

Got DS dressed up in his full uniform for the first time this morning. He suddenly went very shy and didn't even want to show his uniform to DH. I was quite surprised as he's been quite blase about it all when ever it's been talked about.

Have decided to let him have school lunch tomorrow so he gets to see how it all works at the same time as the other newbies.

golgi · 06/09/2009 21:49

Mine is starting tomorrow - full time straight in so will do a full week - he still has a nap after lunch if he gets half a chance so am expecting him to be very very tired and grumpy by Friday. He went a bit funny when we tried the uniform on, too.

I'm going to drop him off then I have to go to school and sit in meetings all day - I will be chewing my fingernails!

I'm sending him with packed lunch because can't figure out how school lunch works and didn't want him to be sitting there with no dinner - although I'm sure that wouldn't have happened.

Acinonyx · 06/09/2009 22:17

I have talked to dd about doing school dinners and she has looked at the menus happily etc but tonight she was pleading with me to have a packed lunch tomorrow. But we have already specified cooked dinners (although I have forgotten to pay - must do that tomorrow ). Even dh wieghed in with an opinion supporting that. We want her to take some responsibility for her food and learn some food-oriented skills. And she's a big girl - frankly if she eats a little less that wouldn't be an entirely bad thing!

Must ask when they do PE. Still needs to sew on the labels for that.

nicefleece · 06/09/2009 22:31

Mine doesn't start for AGES - teachers came to visit last Weds, and DS starts on this Weds for 2 hrs in the afternoon - very staggered start, I am bound to forget where he is meant to be and when....
