Wondered if hand holding for Sept newbies would be nice?

Just that really. Like an antenatal thread but for parents of children starting primary in Sept.

We have our taster afternoon in a couple of weeks - it all feels so alien. Haven't felt this out of it since I bought my 1st pack of nappies and got the giggles at the checkout!

They're stunning tea,I love the idea of eloping, very romantic.

My not so perfectly white house is for sale at the moment, i don't know what we were thinking with the white sofas but we bought them when dd was about 4 mo and we were naive, what can i say, thank god they are washable. I'm currently planning a new colour sheme of grey for the new house

tree dunno, it was simpson asking about your LO's! I'm still struggling to keep up with the Sept starters let alone all the siblings!

treedelivery · 23/06/2009 23:43

Whoops sorry!

OP posts:
swissmiss · 23/06/2009 23:48

no worries. it's busy on here!

treedelivery · 23/06/2009 23:53

It is, and I'm a bit delighted! I was worried it wouldn't get going or make it to Sept, but we are storming here!

I guees it might go quite in the weeks ahead, but then get crazy aroound....say.....late Aug early Sep?

We are away till the Monday of the week they go to school. At a music festival of all things. Not ideal really she'll be tired before she starts.

Just had to look at your pics tree. Beautiful.

It's great this thread picked up. It's really helpful too. I always enjoyed the ante/post natal group stuff but that seems to run out after a couple of years and now on DC3 none of it is so new anymore iykwim. But starting school - eeekk - nerve wracking. Nice to have some hand holding.

swissmiss · 24/06/2009 00:00

Btw, forgot to say - Enjoy the festival. I wouldn't worry too much about the tiredness, is she on full days straight away or is it a tapered start? She'll have some fun news that's fresh in her memory for what did you do in the hols. Mine always come out with "nothing!" at preschool, even if we have been to Switzerland to visit my Mum or the like.

treedelivery · 24/06/2009 00:02

YesI thought that. Once a pn thread runs out of steam [if it does] and the weaning and all that is done, then this is the next big thing we have in common!

Really in common as all the concerns are very similar, which is interesting.

poo, pens and pal making. Next thread title!

Must got to bed. Too hot though!! It's gone muggy here.

OP posts:
swissmiss · 24/06/2009 00:21

night, hot and muggy here too. i should be asleep, using laptop in bed, but am waiting on DD3 to wake for her nighttime bf, but she's over and hour late now. that would have been a whole extra hours kip if I hadn't been on here.

good thread title for the next one.

swissmiss · 24/06/2009 00:24

lol, just noticed we've pushed this onto the most active list. really is time to say good night then!

treedelivery · 24/06/2009 01:00

Nah lets keep it there!!

Been under the bed fishing out baby clothes from the 6-12 month box. Need advanced storage solutions me thinks.

Where the begger am I going to put 5 blouses 3 jumpers and various pinafores?

You are a chatty bunch

Tree I mean your tiny baby LO

PinkTulips · 24/06/2009 10:14

we just moved dd into her own room with her own wardrobe.. half of it is already filled with uniforms! makes me simultaneously sad and excited whenever i see them.

Chrysanthemum5 · 24/06/2009 13:38

Hi
So glad I found this thread! PFB starts school in August (we are in Scotland), he'll be 5 at the end of September so under the Scottish system will be among the younger children in his year. I went to the parents' evening a few weeks ago, and just sat there wondering if it was too late to home school

DH has taken him to his induction session today, which he was really looking forward to.

I feel like such a baby about all this!

Hi
DD starts school in sept, luckily for her 27 of the kids she goes to Nursery with are all going to Nursery with her, only 1 extra child starting.
DD is really excited and we've been lucky enough to have Nursery at the school so she already knows where she is going and has older friends in school.

I've got most of my uniform, just shoes and socks to get in the holidays and I think we're ready for almost anything.

We're going to practice changing into uniform and PE kit in the summer hols and also more varied lunchbox ideas. School has a ban on sweets and drinks that are sugary so that makes things simple.

DD has her induction morning in 2 weeks time and is looking forward to it.

Just found this thread! My youngest DS2 starts in September when he will be 4.7. He is a messy eater, can dress himself (sort of), knows letters and numbers and can write his name. Going for second school visit tomorrow and he is so excited! Not sure how I am feeling about it all...keep thinking end of an era,no more kids at home, more time for me etc etc but at the same time feel a bit sad...not about him starting school...more about him leaving nursery blub

treedelivery · 24/06/2009 18:17

simpson - thought you must have Sh e is a whole load bettter for being on dairy free mamma milk thank you! Have just done a dairy challenge [10 cups of tea a day and some cream teas, bliss] and she hasn't been as bad as before, but stinky mucus poo is back and she is more unsettled and cries more. Paed in Aug for the final decision - then I guess dietician to help me know what to do with a dairy free baby till 3. oo er!

Hello new people and welcome.

Just back from Sainsbury, had a look at uniforms. All greay . Little hair stuff in gingham very cute though.

tree glad things going ok for the mo.

My DD is now intolerant to oats too which makes getting her 20oxs for ff in her very difficult.

DS has had total melt down this evening with tiredness so God knows how he will come Sept

Also all the sewing involved re name tags is scaring me!!

treedelivery · 24/06/2009 18:28

Intolerant to OATS? Blimey. Its like being in a buble thats shrinking - options just keep getting taken away!

Name tag sewing looks a pita for sure.

DD has just refused tomato, sticky honey and spy chicken drum stick, mash. mash sweetcorn and pea potato cake, chicken bits......am

She can jolly well go hungry tonight. I put hemp seeds in the mash and hemp oil in the chicken glaze to get fatty acids in her. Phht!

OP posts:
simpson · 24/06/2009 18:34

Yum, send the left overs my way

DS also said he was hungry after refusing most of his tea.

DD as usual scoffed the whole lot

Yes oats major pain in the wotsit TBH as now she can't have porridge.

However good news in now all seems normal so think we have sorted all intolerances...

treedelivery · 24/06/2009 18:58

So she can eat everything again? You mean it's gone?

Or it seems normal to you to not use these things?

OP posts:
simpson · 24/06/2009 19:04

No meant that all intolerances seem sorted, sorry

When we went dairy/soya free I still thought there was a problem with something else iyswim and that something was obv. oats.

treedelivery · 24/06/2009 19:07

Blimey! That would rock, I really hope it's true!

does anyone else on here have their dcs in private nursery? If so, are you planning on finishing them at nursery just before starting school or giving them a break before? I feel ds needs a break of a week (if I can sort the time off with wor - especially as I have to work out half days initially etc) - it will also help him get used to a later start to the day as he has to get up at 6.15am at the moment!
