Do boys at the juniors still wear shorts in the summer?

Because I haven't seen much evidence of it yet and I know DS1 would prefer to wear something cooler, but won't want to stand out in the crowd.

He is in Yr 3.

Yes they do at our school. As soon as your ds wears his they will all be wearing theirs.

PersonalClown · 08/05/2008 14:07

Yup. Ds has his on today.

MrsBoo · 08/05/2008 14:09

At our school it isn't compulsory, but boys up to P7 are wearing them

MehgaLegs · 08/05/2008 14:10

Yes, I have just ordered three pairs for DS1 (Yr 3) as last year's were too tight around his bum.

Niecie · 08/05/2008 14:10

Thanks.

Now I have the problem of where to get them as the ones he had last year are too small and more like hot pants which probably would make him stand out in the crowd for all the wrong reasons!

Next have got some cargo, pant style ones with the big pockets. (Although I have gone for the flat fronted ones as I am old fashioned.)

Niecie · 08/05/2008 14:12

Oh, where did you order them from MeghaLegs?

Shops round here seem to have sold out.

I've got some from Asda and the ones I ordered from next came today.

Ds1 in Yr4 wore some yesterday but was back in trousers today.

Ds2 Foundation 2 loves his.

Niecie · 08/05/2008 14:29

Oh dear, I can't order from Next. I had a falling out with them as I paid my bill on their website several different occasions and for some reason it didn't register so they kept hassling me for money I thought I had paid. I ended up telling them to stuff it not to send their catalogue again.

I'll have to go into the shop at the weekend.

Thanks again.

There is a smattering of boys wearing shorts at our school. DS (Reception) has been in his on and off since term started (mostly because DD1 in Yr 1 starts getting her gingham dress out around December and saying, "it's quite warm today isn't it mummy?").

We have 2 boys in Year 5 that wear shorts all year round. Even with wellies in the snow. Nutters.

Blandmum · 08/05/2008 14:34

Mine does.

Their summer uniform is Grey shorts and a white shirt.

He comes home with filthy knees and legs. V healthy!

wordgirl · 08/05/2008 14:36

DS3 (yr4) refuses to wear shorts for school now

bozza · 08/05/2008 14:37

It is a shame they don't. I have just managed to persuade DS into his for the first time this year. Despite him coming home hot and sweaty every day. And the girls are all swanning around in their light, floaty linen dresses.

wordgirl · 08/05/2008 14:37

Yes much easier to wash legs than trousers.

Iota · 08/05/2008 14:38

neither of mine will wear shorts (6 and 9)

Blandmum · 08/05/2008 14:38

makes me realise how filthy his trouses must have been. Thank goodness they are grey and don't show the dirt

Ds would love to but I won't let him as he runs to fast and falls at least once a week. I would rather have worn out trousers than huge cut knees.

Blandmum · 08/05/2008 14:40

They have to wear them to the end of year 6 (poncy private uniform). Uniform is vile, school is good

serenity · 08/05/2008 14:41

DS1 (yr5) really wants to wear them, but I'm having trouble finding them (even the over priced school shop doesn't have any) The problem we have is that they have to wear Navy, and it's a pita to find.

Niecie · 08/05/2008 14:42

Problem is that as soon as he wears shorts for the first time, he WILL fall over and skin his knees - he always does.

Never falls over in trousers. Perhaps they somehow 'strenghten' his legs!

DS1 is definitely a geek so probably why he would be happy to wear the shorts.
