Do boys at the juniors still wear shorts in the summer?

Because I haven't seen much evidence of it yet and I know DS1 would prefer to wear something cooler, but won't want to stand out in the crowd.

He is in Yr 3.

Most of the boys in DS1's Y5 class are in shorts this week - there are a couple who also wear shorts whatever the weather, pretty much all year round.

DS2 loves shorts and can't wait to put on short sleeves. I put it down to his infancy in Singapore.

serenity marks and spencers sell navy shorts and when i ordered them yesterday they had most sizes in stock.

Not compulsory from Year 5 but many, including ds, still are.

I looked on M&S, and they had DS1s size, but not DS2s in Navy. I was umming and ahhing over whether it was worth it and then I followed Littlelapins link to some nice floaty summer trousers and ended up buying both

Ds1 will have his shorts by next week......

boys have to wear shorts at our school all year right up to year 6! Its a cause of much stress when the year 6s go to visit their high schools for the day

Don't know why I didn't think of it before - just ordered some from M & S website. In two different sizes mind you, as they seem to be a bit hit and miss in the sizing.

I'm like you serenity, just ordered myself some sandles too which I hadn't intended to do when I got up this morning.

It will probably start raining the day they arrive and not stop until the autumn.

I had to bump it up to £30 to get the free delivery..........

I got some for Ds on Monday. H eis only 5 so doesn't care anyway, but god he looks so cute in them

Yes, mine was the first one with them on on Tuesday and today i noticed all of reception had them on followed by most of yr1/2/3 and a couple from yr 4 and 5 but none from yr 6.

Have to say love them in shorts as they look so cute and especially with sandals on as well.

Even year 6 when it gets hot.

DS2 (yr3) will wear them, DS1 (yr6) not a chance. He had his jeans on today in this lovely warm weather, even though he does have nice trendy shorts in his wardrobe.

At our school even yr 6 wear them. They tend to wear the longer style shorts.

Maybe his friends are waiting for someone to take the first move! Has your School announced it "SUMMER" yet! Ours did last week and sent home a letter stating what is required.

Shorts optional until half-term, compulsory after half term (apart from inclement weather but that doesn't stop people)
