I haven't seen another thread similar to previous years, so thought it would be beneficial to start one as exams are now 1 month away.
I think SHHS, UCS, KCJS and WUS are all in October.

Also - Curious to see if number of applicants are down this year, with Labour's VAT raid.

2minutesplease · 15/11/2024 09:55

After 16:00 =>

SWlondonmum123 · 15/11/2024 09:55

oh it is today? So when they said Mid November they actually meant literally mid November ie 15th

Yes, can’t be any more mid November than 15th late afternoon 😂

😂😂 thank you for calling! One of us had to do it!

Caps0218 · 15/11/2024 11:33

Our 2nd round invitation email arrived just after 5pm, while others got theirs after 4pm, so I would expect a similar time and then they will log off, so as to avoid parents calling etc...
Someone mentioned they do 70 offers + a waiting list? Would SPJS also do similar or perhaps not as many as they are the last of the 3 to offer, so would expect boys who are sitting to have it as a 1st choice?

I think all numbers are pure speculations including the number of kids who sat the tests etc I don’t think anyone asked the schools directly.

Absolutely. But I was basing it on 20 groups of 15 for the exam and 11/12 groups of 12 for the activity day. But just that someone said Kings over offer to 70, just curious if St Paul's do also.

OP posts:
Naliny · 15/11/2024 15:45

Why would they do 70 offers + reserve list if only 54 places? Shouldn’t it be more like 54 offers and then maybe 20 or so on the reserve list?

Caps0218 · 15/11/2024 15:51

@Naliny It's because if someone has an offer from school A and is on the waitlist B, likely to go ahead and take school A as opposed to wait and see if there is movement on the waitlist etc. They have years of data to base this on. City Junior School,2 years ago, offered 110 for 75 places. You have to assume that 20-30 kids might want have preference for SPJS or WUS.

So sorry to hear that :( Will you try SPJS?
plenty of kids successfully enter at 8+ and it will be so much easier as the base is already solid! ♥️♥️

Caps0218 · 15/11/2024 21:43

We are NW London based and it was more to gauge his level….so he’s not far off. So we now try SPJS next week….and let’s see.

DS got an offer as well. Really surprised because he wasn’t feeling very confident about it.
