Is anyone else's son studying for the WUS 7+ next week? It's now going online... so I'm now worried this has basically turned it into a Cheaters' Charter. Surely there'll be loads of parents just completing the tests for their kids? What do you think?

@fionaming I agree with you that the decision making is probably done. Well only less than 24hours to go and the mystery will be over. I wonder if they will play safe and pick all Wetherby’s boys. It’s probably a safe space for them.

I believe there will be quite a few Wetherby boys as it is always each year. And if we also take capable siblings into consideration, there might not be more than 10 spaces left ?

Nowworried · 21/01/2021 17:04

So approximately 70 DC fighting for 10 spaces!

I feel the chance is very slim tbh. Actually, it is over 300 for around 10.
Nataly21 · 21/01/2021 17:27

@fionaming They said 180 sat for the initial assessment this time.

Nataly21 · 21/01/2021 17:28

But there will be about 10 spaces left considering siblings and feeder school preferences

annalenav · 21/01/2021 17:35

Siblings don’t get a preference.

Nataly21 · 21/01/2021 17:38

@annalenav really? We know a couple of families at the school who have had a second/third son in, not to take away form their children's talents, but I presumed they had the added advantage of having an older sibling at the school. Isn't that the case with most schools though?

annalenav · 21/01/2021 17:46

@Nataly21 official policy is no and I know two families where the younger sibling didn’t make it. But who knows for sure?

fionaming · 21/01/2021 17:49

They take capable sibling. It's merit based only

fionaming · 21/01/2021 17:50

Thanks. I thought it was more or less the same as last year

Nataly21 · 21/01/2021 18:00

@annalenav I suppose @fionaming has a point. Both younger siblings are very talented. Tutored yes but also talented.

Sunnysidewalk · 21/01/2021 18:10

They do have sibling preference but they have to be capable.

Sunnysidewalk · 21/01/2021 18:14

No point in only having those who got first round offers on the zoom today. If they offer 22 places and 2 say no (and some do for all sorts of reasons) the other parents further down the list wouldn’t have “seen” the school.

MsMeanwhile · 21/01/2021 19:32

@Sunnysidewalk. That’s why these schools won’t just give the same number of offers as what they would admit. They always over offer and also have a waiting list. I heard last year KCS over offered so much that nobody on waiting list moved

icantbelievethis001 · 21/01/2021 21:24

Last year the offers went out in the morning. Good luck all.

StrugglingPa · 21/01/2021 23:57

The webinar gave no option to see how many people were on the call or to unmute. I just wanted to make sure I was muted and in the process realised that didn’t have any options available. It felt that the decision has been made as it was all referred in the past tense. Questions related to selection weren’t answered directly.

StrugglingPa · 22/01/2021 12:00

Has anyone received an email?

StrugglingPa · 22/01/2021 14:54

The letter has come DS got offered

Relieved1234 · 22/01/2021 15:22

@StrugglingPa so did we

Lazymum78 · 22/01/2021 15:24

When did you get your offer relieved1234 ?Is this for 7 or 8 plus?

annalenav · 22/01/2021 15:35

DS got an offer!

Relieved1234 · 22/01/2021 15:42

We got in by email before 3 . This is for the 7+

StrugglingPa · 22/01/2021 15:57

@Relieved1234 Congrats!

Eitherway · 22/01/2021 16:04

We don’t and my assumption is right. School is dishonest and has no respect towards all the parents and students.
