DD1 started school last week & seems to love it,thank goodness. It is a village school,so not huge, but there are only 9 of them in reception.I wondered how many children are in the average reception class?

21 (started today), there should have been 20 so another obviousl got in on appeal - and the stated no. is 17 -
Average at the school is around 15, but it is a small village school.

12 and 3 of them are from last years recepton.

Gobbledigook · 06/09/2007 21:22

30 - 20 yr1 and 10 reception. 1 teacher and 2 TAs.

The school is hugely popular so all classes are at capacity and with a waiting list.

9 in ds2's class with teacher and full time TA, 2 classes for reception both with 9 (both have own TA). It is private though, and it's why we moved dss last year, ds1 had 30, and is now in a class of 14 in yr3.

The school is quite popular, but only has 15 in reception because after reception the classes double up - yrs 1+2; 3+4; 5+6.

The school doesn't have the capacity for bigger classes.

It was built as a village school originally, although wouldn't class it as such now.

Toothyboy · 07/09/2007 20:02

45 split into 2 classes! How do you all know who many boys/girls? Are you quick counters or does the school tell you? Our school hasn't even re-done the contacts/illnesses bit yet!!

  1. One FT teacher and one FT teaching assistant. There are more boys than girls in the class.

ours had 6 girls, 15 boys. I knew most of the kids from pre-school, there are 5 extra boys who weren't at pre-school. School hasn't issued stats.

As of Friday there were 8 children However by end of this week coming it will have risen to 20. In January this number will rise to 30
