summer hols start earlier here than elsewhere in uk

gscrym · 14/08/2007 15:43

Falkirk schools start next week. DS can't wait. He's been walking around with his school bag on.

Spockle · 14/08/2007 15:53

DD1 will start in Sept; I will be away on business for her first week! I am gutted, but I don't think she'll give a stuff, she is so excited...

Gobbledigook · 14/08/2007 15:55

Oooh, nailey, hadn't thought of that! So when we go to Scotland on 23rd it won't be so busy round about because Scottish children are back at school?

Gobbledigook · 14/08/2007 15:56

NAB3 I've been going to school 3 times a day for the past academic year and will do this year as well!!!

Dropping off ds1 in the morning, taking ds2 to school nursery at lunchtime, picking up at the end of school. This year it's ds3's turn to go to school nursery so it's same again!

tortoiseSHELL · 14/08/2007 16:03

Dd will be 4.1

happyathome · 16/08/2007 22:39

hi everyone.my DD started primary last year.sorry if you see my addition as a hijack, however i wish you all luck,as it is scary.Iv'e posted on the parenting topic about the things iv'e done with myself and how i've found this year and DD's first experience of school,if you want to read it.
it's under the title thread "ellasmum,i've not forgotton you".
as the title suggests,i wanted to say hi to ellasmum,if your'e still lurking on this thread.
all i can say is,starting school is not quite the ordeal i imagined and you/they gradually adapt, like anything else.
The worst part is your child being tired all the time at first(especially if youngest in class).I just compensated by not pushing DD into doing anything else extra-curricular,let her relax at night. Her stamina has greatly improved after a year!.

Clary · 17/08/2007 00:26

Yes me
DS2 (clarette #3 and final) will be 4.5 and very ready IMHO.

Have been having a lot of "Mrs XXX won't/will like you doing that" all holiday.

F&Z are you home edding then??

harrisey · 17/08/2007 12:17

In 3 weeks time all us scotland mummies whose kids started this week will come back adn wipe away your tears. Ds started yesterday, at 5yrs 6 months, about as old as you can get, and he had a ball. At least we think he did!

"How was school?"
"Good"
"What did you do?"
"We didnt get any homework!"

"Can I play someplaystation when I get home?"

and that was that.

I didnt even cry a little bit (sobbed 2 years ago when dd1 started but am an old hand now. Will probably cry next week when dd2 starts preschool though - she's my youngest (3yrs 9 ms). But hey! 3 children in free state childcare means I am getting value for money I reckon!
